    Sheriden, Sufri emerge winners of Dance Singapore contest

    MUMBAI: The second season of Dance Singapore Dance on Zee TV APAC comes to an end with a spectacular grand finale. Sheriden Newman, 29, danced her way to victory after emerging as thewinner of Season 2. Sheriden, 29, a dance graduate from Queensland University of Technology outperformed over 200 contestants in the auditions and 11 others during the grueling 10 episode journey to take home the prize money of SGD 15000 (Rs 7.2 lakh). Mohamad Sufri Juwahir and Mumtaz Angullia were the first and the second runners-up and took home cash prizes of S$3000 and S$2000 respectively.

    The runaway success of the first season set the stage for an even bigger canvas for the second season of Dance Singapore Dance. There were many breath-taking moments as the level of performances soared episode after episode. Each contestant left no stone unturned to keep the audiences and judges captivated with their exceptional performances.

    The season started with a new panel of judges with Bollywood ace Choreographer Master Mudassar Khan all the way from Mumbai and popular local classical and contemporary dancer Sreedevy Sivarajasingam.Guest judges on different episodes included Najip Ali (Host & Entertainer), Kavitha Krishnan (Artistic Director, Maya Dance Theatre), Daisy Irani (Creative Director & Actor, Hum Theatre), Shantha M Misra (Indian Classical Dancer and Choreographer) and Zaini Tahir, (Artistic Director and Dance Singapore Dance S1 judge) also provided their expert opinion as part of the judging panel.

    Sheriden Newman, 29, winner of Dance Singapore Dance Season 2, said “I would like to thank everyone who supported me throughout this journey, especially Sahil, my mentor for constantly pushing my boundaries and helping me excel. With the prize money, I plan to establish my new dance company Soul Signature with my dancing partner, Sufri Juwahir.”

    The finale night saw all the five finalists put their best foot forward but Sheriden managed to edge out other contestants with an enthralling contemporary performance.

    Zee TV brings season 2 of ‘Dance Singapore Dance’

    MUMBAI: Zee TV, the flagship channel of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), has announced the return of its highly popular reality dance competition, Dance Singapore Dance season 2. The open category competition is open to all residents of Singapore aged 16 and above, and aims to provide a platform for amateur and experienced dancers to showcase their talent. Pre-registration for the show has begun on www.apac.zeetv.com/dsd and auditions will take place on Saturday 28 of May 2016 at 9 am onwards at the La Salle College of the Arts, 1 McNally St, Singapore 187940.

This year we have increased the prize money for the winner to S$15,000 and included cash and other prizes for the first and second runners-up.     Dance Singapore Dance is a localised version of the popular Dance India Dance series. Returning for its second season, the show will bring together aspiring dancers from different backgrounds and cultures from across Singapore. The winner and finalists from Season 1 were catapulted to fame with many of them gaining experience through various on-ground events organized by Zee TV and their partners.

    After the audition process on 28 May, the top 12 dancers will be shortlisted by an international panel of judges. These 12 will then get to train with some of the industry’s best choreographers and their performances will be featured on the show ‘Dance Singapore Dance Season 2’ on Zee TV, which will be broadcasted across 18 countries. The top three winners of the competition stand to win prizes of up to $20,000.

    From the audition rounds to the various studio challenges, the 12 episodes will culminate in one dancer winning the title of “Singapore’s Best Dancing Star”. The winner of Season 2 will take home S$15,000 and the First and Second Runners-Up will also be awarded prizes.

    Dance Singapore Dance S1 Winner Shahrin Johry:

    Shahrin Johry, 33, is the winner of Zee TV’s Dance Singapore Dance. A professional dancer/choreographer at Maya Dance Theatre, Shahrin recently concluded his full-length production, KA; he used a portion of his prize money from Dance Singapore Dance to produce the hour-long dance piece. While contributing to the local art scene, the production was a gift to his teachers who have taught him and moulded him to be an artist.

    A street dancer in his youth, Shahrin thirst for knowledge initiated him on a journey to learn different dance forms and genres, leading him to learn Bharathanatyam dance vocabulary for creation of works inspired from Asian aesthetics and dynamism and eventually enrolling in Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore to further hone his artistry.

  • &TV hops on to StarHub platform in Singapore

    &TV hops on to StarHub platform in Singapore

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises’ newest Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) &TV will launch on Singapore’s StarHub platform.

     

    From 16 September onwards, &TV will be available on StarHub TV’s Channel 165. To enable customers to view the channel on-the-go and across multiple devices, &TV will also be made available on StarHub Go, StarHub’s online streaming service.

     

    At launch, viewers will be able to catch content such as Agent Raghav – Crime Branch, a fast paced crime-mystery thriller;Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, a comedy television series, Deal or No Deal, a game-show that revolves around the opening of a set of numbered briefcases and Gangaa, an inspiring story of a child widow.

     

    “Zee Entertainment is one of India’s top entertainment companies, so  we are delighted to introduce &TV to our viewers, adding yet another quality Zee channel into our Hindi lineup. We are confident that &TV will be a breath of fresh air and delight our viewers with its exciting and contemporary content,” said StarHub head of media business unit Lee Soo Hui.

    To enable customers to sample the channel, &TV will be available for a month-long free preview from 9 am on 16 September to 12 pm on 16 October via StarHub TV and StarHub Go. Additionally, StarHub TV customers can subscribe to &TV as an a la carte channel at $8.56 (including GST) per month through Instant Buy via the blue button on their remote control, or sign up for Manoranjan Pack at a monthly subscription of $25.90. Both the subscribers of &TV and Manoranjan Pack will be able to view this channel via StarHub Go.

     

    Manoranjan Pack comprises seven other Indian channels such as Zee TV, Zee TV HD, Zee News, Colors, Life OK, SET Asia and Star Plus.

    Zee TV APAC begins auditions of ‘Dance Singapore Dance’

    MUMBAI: Zee TV APAC has launched its first reality dance competition in Singapore. The channel encourages local dancers by providing them a platform to showcase their talent on international television.

     

    Auditions for Dance Singapore Dance, held on 14-15 March at MDIS Campus received a good response. The dancers were judged by Shakti Mohan, winner of Dance India Dance Season 2, and Zaini Mohammad Tahir, artistic director and choreographer of National University of Singapore (NUS) dance Ensemble.

     

    Dancers auditioned for an opportunity to create history and perform on one of the most celebrated dance stages. The auditions drew dancers from different nationalities and backgrounds further enforcing Singapore’s cultural diversity. The dancers exhibited original choreography, strong technique, immaculate timing, never-before-seen passion and a universal appeal. Contestants at the auditions were as young as 16 years, whereas the oldest contestant was 68 years old.

    At the end of the first day open auditions, the top 50 shortlisted dancers were invited to perform on the second day.

     

    On the second day of auditions, the Super 12 that managed to impress the judges each received a “Hat of Destiny” in recognition of their dancing talent.

     

    Going forward the Super 12 will train with some of the industry’s best choreographers and their performances will be premiered in June on Zee TV APAC across 18 countries. The show will also be broadcasted on Zee Tamizh (Singapore feed) and StarHub’s Sensasi, a local Malay free to air channel.

    MUMBAI: Zee TV, the flagship channel of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., has announced the launch of Zee TV’s Hindi programming on YuppTV, one of the largest Internet TV providers of South Asian Content. The content will be made available on YuppTV’s OTT (over-the-top) platform, which is available for download on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

    Through this new partnership, viewers can now enjoy Zee TV programming across multiple channels on Internet enabled devices such as smart phones, tablets, smart TVs, and more. The full package of Zee TV’s programs including prime time drama series, television movies, theatrical films, specials and daytime dramas will be made available on YuppTV’s platform. Viewers will be able to enjoy the added benefit of Catch-Up TV for their favourite shows such as Kumkum Bhagya, Jodha Akbar, Satrangi Sasural and Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa – Little Champs.
