    Deepti Sampat has transitioned to Air India following Vistara merger

    MUMBAI:  Deepti Sampat has officially transitioned to the role of vice president marketing  at Air India, following  the merger of Vistara and Air India. Her shift to Air India took place in November, but because this was not reported earlier, we are posting it now.

    Having spent over five years at Vistara as VP-marketing, , Sampat reflects on her journey, expressing gratitude to her colleagues and the customers who supported the airline, helping build it into a strong brand within Indian aviation. She earlier  has had stints with Oberoi group, tripadvisor, Expedia, Talent Edge, and finally Vistara. In various roles.  

    Sampat’s rich educational background includes an MBA in marketing from the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, and a certificate in business strategy from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Her career trajectory spans multiple senior marketing roles, showcasing her expertise in driving brand strategy and customer experience in highly competitive markets.

    Her tenure at Vistara was marked by numerous accolades.As she embarks on this new chapter at Air India, Sampat aims to leverage her extensive experience to enhance marketing initiatives and further elevate the airline’s service standards in the Indian aviation sector.

    This new appointment emphasises Air India’s commitment to strengthening its brand identity while integrating the values and services of Vistara into its operations.

    Hari V Krishnan to step down as CEO of PropertyGuru group

    MUMBAI: In a significant leadership announcement, Hari V. Krishnan has decided to step down as CEO of the Singapore-based PropertyGuru group after nearly a decade of remarkable growth and innovation.

    Reflecting on his tenure, Hari highlighted key milestones such as achieving market leadership across regions, expanding into Vietnam, forming a transformative partnership in Malaysia, and leading the company’s public listing on the NYSE.

    Hari’s leadership also saw the incubation of new businesses and solutions, multiple funding rounds, and the recent strategic partnership with EQT Group wherein the Swedish  alternative investment firm acquired it at a valuation of $1.1 billion and delisted it from the NYSE. He will transition into the role of senior advisor to the board once a new CEO is in place.

    PropertyGuru announced that Lewis Ng will take over as CEO in March. With a robust background at global firms such as Seek, TripAdvisor, and Apple, along with prior experience at PropertyGuru, Lewis is poised to lead the company into its next growth phase. Trevor Mather will join as chairman, bringing extensive experience from AutoTrader and Thoughtworks, alongside new board members Janice Leow and Ed Williams.

    Hari expressed gratitude to stakeholders, reflecting on his journey of empowering communities to thrive and expressing confidence in the company’s future under new leadership.

    Prior to heading the PropertyGuru group,  Hari was a well-known executive in India as  Linkedin vice president & MD, Asia Pacific & Japan before that  country manager for India. He began his career wih Ciso as a product manage/ customer support engineer based in San Jose, moving onto assignments with Yahoo India, travelguru, Myspace, and then Linkedin. He is a mentor and investor in several startops.

    MUMBAI: Social networking site Twitter has named American Express EVP – global advertising, marketing & digital partnerships Leslie Berland as its chief marketing officer (CMO).

     
    On her appointment, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted, “Welcoming @leslieberland to Twitter! She will join as our CMO to help tell the stories of our iconic product!”

     

    To which, Berland replied, “Thanks @Jack! Excited to join you and the amazing teams to bring to life the power, uniqueness and magic of Twitter!”

     

    On joining the company, Berland said, “Twitter is a service like no other. It has and continues to change the world, shaping how we communicate and connect, how we’re entertained, informed and inspired. It represents everything that’s relevant at each and every moment – to me, there’s nothing more powerful. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Jack and the Twitter teams to bring the magic of Twitter to life, broaden its reach, and deepen its impact as the company enters this incredibly exciting new chapter.”

     

    Berland will be responsible for the company’s global consumer, product, and sales marketing.

     

    Having worked at American Express since 2005, she led a global team responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce through differentiated and innovative products, marketing and customer experiences globally.

     

    As a member of the company’s global management team, Berland oversaw advertising, media, sponsorships, content, brand identity and digital partnerships for the enterprise. Under Berland’s leadership, American Express forged relationships and created first-ever marketing and digital experiences with partners like Apple, McDonald’s, Uber, TripAdvisor, VeriFone, Twitter, Samsung, Foursquare, Facebook, Jawbone and Google. 

     

    During her tenure at American Express, Berland played a critical role in creating the company’s first social media strategies and presences, and led the social media partnerships and strategy for the first Small Business Saturday.

     

    A two-time recipient of the American Express Chairman’s Award for Innovation, Berland also provided strategic guidance to the American Express executive team and was a trusted advisor to numerous corporate partners of American Express on their brand, social media and digital endeavors.

     
    Prior to American Express, Berland led PR and online communications strategies for global brands on the agency side.

    National Geographic Traveller India Magazine wins India Travelers’ Choice Awards 2014 by Tripadvisor

    MUMBAI: National Geographic Traveller India, the world’s most widely read travel magazine published in India under license from National Geographic Society, by Amar Chitra Katha Pvt Ltd, has been awarded the Travel magazine of 2014 by www.tripadvisor.com, the world’s largest travel community.

    National Geographic Traveler India Magazine won the India’s Travelers’ Choice Awards through a Survey which was conducted across the world, where each country used a panel of more than 5,500 TripAdvisor travelers to shortlist the brands/products in each category. A total of 95,056 travelers then selected their favorites from the shortlists and the winner was chosen.

    Ms. Niloufer Venkatraman, Editor -in-chief, National Geographic Traveller India said “I am absolutely, totally, delighted than in just two years we’ve managed to establish ourselves as the best travel magazine in India. This public acknowledgement from travellers, and endorsement from well respected brand TripAdvisor, is a huge feather in our cap”. She further added, “It’s great to know that the two years of sweat have been worth it. And our team continues to be excited about the next travel story. We love what we do, and feel gratified that we’re producing a magazine with a readers’ stamp of approval”.

    Tripadvisor launches $1.5 million creative ad challenge

    NEW DELHI: Travel site TripAdvisor has launched a new creative ad challenge for travel brands and advertising agencies to design a creative ad campaign that will run on TripAdvisor websites.

    The company has set aside a total prize fund of $1.5 million, and the winning entry on the TripAdvisor India site will receive $100,000 in equivalent CPM (cost per mille).

    The 2012 TripAdvisor Creative Ad Challenge gives the industry an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent through the highly interactive medium of online ad display and the chance to impact a global audience of travellers, who are looking for inspiration while planning their next trip.

    TripAdvisor VP Display Sales EMEA Martin Verdon-Roe said, “The 2012 Creative Challenge gives travel brands the freedom to develop an engaging media campaign that tells a story and shows what their brand really stands for, rather than just focusing on the more traditional ROI price point creative that is so common online. Following the success of our last challenge which was hosted in UK last year, this year it‘s even bigger and provides multiple opportunities for travel brands to win specific market campaigns.”

    This year the challenge has been expanded to include 11 markets across Europe and APAC. From the Europe market UK, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain and Turkey are part of the challenge while in APAC, India, Australia, Singapore, China and Japan are included. All travel brands and advertising agencies from the respective countries are entitled to participate in the challenge.

    All entries must be submitted by 31 May – the winning campaigns will run on TripAdvisor between August and October.

    The campaigns will be judged by a panel of TripAdvisor sales and marketing experts, as well as representatives from the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
