    CNN-IBN shines at the 13th Indian television academy awards

    NEW DELHI: India’s Most Awarded News Channel, has once again proved its mettle by winning three awards at the prestigious 13th Indian Television Academy Awards. CNN-IBN was adjudged the Best English News Channel of 2013 – for the seventh time in the last eight years and four times in a row. Sagarika Ghose, was conferred the Best Anchor – Talk/Chat Show for Face the People. The other award was bagged by the channel’s flagship show INDIA at 9 in the category Best News/ Current Affairs Show.

    The Indian Television Academy Awards is an annual event organised by the Indian Television Academy. The awards are presented in various categories, including popular programming (music, news, entertainment, sports, travel, lifestyle and fashion), best television channel in various categories, technical awards and best performance awards.

    Gourmet superstars coming to Fox Traveller

    MUMBAI: Travel and Lifestyle channel is launching a latest international show- The Taste.

    Fox Traveller is teaming, for the first-time ever, with internationally acclaimed culinary geniuses – Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Brian Malarkey and Ludo Lefebvre who will get down to what truly matters, the way the food tastes!

    The show will feature the chefs who will in return select 16 contestants – both amateur and professional cooks – by tasting just one spoonful of their food while they are blindfold. The judges then mentor their team of four contestants, but the blind tasting continues, meaning a judge may unwittingly vote off their own team member.

    Elaborating on FOX Traveller’s decision to bring ‘The Taste’ to India, Fox International Channels vice president marketing Debarpita Banerjee said, “We continue to introduce different twists and perspectives to travel, food and lifestyle. With this show, we are confident of breathing a fresh lease of life into the way cooking reality shows are seen, in our country.”

    The Taste will air every Friday at 9:00 pm starting 18 October 2013 only on Fox Traveller.

    MUMBAI: Shagun – India’s first wedding entertainment channel is all set to launch its first ever fiction show Sajna Hai Mujhe. As the channel’s theme is to celebrate the evergreen festival of wedding so with this show they follow the same theme. Marriage in our country is treated as the most prominent happening in every person’s life and the channel is thus focusing on strengthening and enhancing the concept of marriage. The channel after presenting its viewers with non-fiction shows on travel, chat, astrology, shopping, matrimony, fashion and fitness it is soon going to please its viewers with this fresh fiction show also.

     

    Shagun channel MD Anuranjan Jha said, “Fiction has always grabbed the attention of the masses. It is the one stop which has always been all time favourite category of the television audience. So keeping in mind this factor we are now jumping into fiction category also which will definitely add more flavor into the channel.”

     

    Sajna hai mujhe aims to showcase the diversity in marriages in the Indian society. With this aim the story will revolve around three different couples who will be shown facing the ups and downs in their respective relationships. The show is believed to strengthen the factors like patience, sacrifice, empathy, love, understanding and forgiveness which are believed to be the core competence of every successful marriage.

     

    The show promises to be an interesting journey packed with drama, emotions and entertainment. The show is produced by Park Media and Ideaz Pictures and the cast includes actors like Amit Behl, Aadesh Chaudhary, Darpan Shrivastava, Nirmai Bali, Manmohan Tiwari and new face Shikha. The situations in the show will be realistic and circumstances will be common. The story line of the show will be quite relatable and the viewers will feel rooted to the norms and culture which are common in every second household of our country.

     

    Sajna hai mujhe will be on air from 2 September running from Monday to Wednesday at 8:00 pm on Shagun.

    BBC World invites entries for a show on Indian weddings

    MUMBAI: Looks like the big fat Indian wedding with its diverse facets is becoming a strong subject for channels. Last year Discovery’s lifestyle channel Travel and Living had kicked off its localisation plans with The Great Indian Wedding.Now news channel BBC World is inviting applications from soon-to-be-married Indian couples for its forthcoming programme on Indian weddings. The programme scheduled to air in the summer will focus on the business that Indian weddings generate, in addition to the traditions and mystique.

    BBC World will telecast the wedding of one Indian couple, across the world. Produced by Pulse Media, this programme will give a couple who are scheduled to get married in March, an opportunity to have their wedding featured on the channel. The short-listed entries will be chosen on the basis of their profiles and auditions will take place in Delhi.

    BBC World commissioning editor Narendhra Morar says, “With this innovative series we plan to exhibit an Indian wedding from a business perspective which we believe will be a revelation to audiences across the globe. From the bridal trousseau to the banqueting options and the wedding planners, Indian weddings provide a commercial opportunity across many industries. By showcasing a real wedding, we believe BBC World will be able to effectively capture the fascinating customs while at the same time accessing the financial intricacies of modern-day marriage in India”.

    The entries for BBC World’s wedding series auditions are open until 14 January 2007 for Indian couples getting married in March 2007. Filming will take place that month.     Tangerine Global inks HDTV entertainment deal with Pennisula Hotels

    MUMBAI: Tangerine Global, a global player in high-definition television (HDTV) programming for the five-star hospitality marketplace, has been selected by luxury group The Peninsula Hotels to provide the media company’s premier HDTV entertainment services to its hotels.

    The contract makes Tangerine Global’s service available as early as this summer to Peninsula’s deluxe properties worldwide, including its flagship hotel, The Peninsula Hong Kong and The Peninsula Chicago. Tangerine Global will present its offering of programming-spanning travel, fashion, lifestyle, adventure and sports-to The Peninsula Hotels’ discerning guests.
