    Voot Select set to stream ‘Apharan 2’ on 18 March

    Mumbai: OTT service platform Voot Select is set to stream the second season of “Apharan 2” on 18 March.

    Produced by Ekta R Kapoor and Jio Studios, the show features a stellar cast Arunoday Singh, Nidhi Singh, Snehil Dixit Mehra, Saanand Verma and Sukhmani Sadana and spans across 11 episodes. The show is directed by Santosh Singh, and it is written by Siddharth Sengupta, Umesh Padalkar, Anahata Menon.

    “Apharan is a cult series that was a runaway success,” said Viacom18 Digital Ventures head SVOD and international business Ferzad Palia. “We couldn’t be happier than to bring the second edition exclusively to Voot Select members and play home to this popular franchise. Apharan Season 2 marks the start of a heavy line up of top-quality Originals with probably the most robust slate that India will witness in 2022.”

    A special screening was held for the launch of the show attended by industry honchos on Wednesday. The star-studded affair was attended by Ekta R Kapoor along with the entire cast of the show.

    “This is my first collaboration with Jio Studios and Voot Select and I am thrilled to associate with them for an unconventional show like Apharan,” said Kapoor. “After the overwhelming response received from the audience for the first season, it only made sense for us to take them by surprise with Season 2 by steering away from the mainstream action-thriller genre.  With never-seen-before plot twists, the sequel is sure to make many jaws drop. Be ready – Kyunki Sabka Katega Dobara!”

    Set against the backdrop of India and Serbia, “Apharan 2” follows the story of a cop Rudra who sets out on a journey to kidnap an intelligent criminal Bikram Bahadur Shah who wants to eliminate India from the world map. The trailer of the show on YouTube crossed 35 million views over 12 days, according to the streaming platform.

    “The Apharan 2 trailer has risen viewers’ curiosity for the sequel, but the wait is not too long now,” said actor Arunoday Singh. “Playing the character of Rudra Srivastava has been an unforgettable experience for me. The entire cast has kept every minute detail in mind while getting into the skin of our respective characters. We embodied their physical as well as emotional traits. All I can say is that it will leave you at the edge of your seat. Hoping that you guys like it.”

    Disney+ Hotstar to stream its first Telugu original ‘Parampara’

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar has announced that its first Telugu Hotstar Special “Parampara” will begin streaming on 24 December. The platform dropped a trailer for the new show on Wednesday.

    Written by Hari Yelleti and directed by Krishna Vijay L and Viswanath Arigela, the show features a stellar cast including Naveen Chandra, Ishan, Aakanksha Singh and others. The show is led by Jagapathi Babu and Sarath Kumar. The series is backed by Baahubali producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni of Arka Mediaworks Production.

    “‘Parampara’ is a drama that is based on the power ambitions of its characters,” said director Krishna Vijay L. “The audience will be treated to a power drama that packs emotions, actions and an enticing story that will keep them hooked on to the series.”

    “I am honoured to mark my digital web series debut with Parampara and the waves it is expected to create for Telugu digital entertainment space,” said veteran actor Sarath Kumar. “My role as a powerful business tycoon has multiple layers that have been masterfully maneuvered through Krishna Vijay L’s direction. As an actor working on a web series for the first time, there are certain transitions that need to be done and it was a journey filled with excitement and exploration about my acting process. I hope ‘Parampara’ finds resonance with the audience.”

    “‘Parampara’ has a very unique story to tell. Through the series, the audience will enjoy a roller coaster ride of power tussles, deception and family infightings,” said actor Jagapathi Babu. “For my character Mohan Rao, there is a silent intensity to the way he walks, moves and talks that is very captivating. The entire build-up of the character had several learnings for me both as an actor and human. I had a lot of fun playing Mohan Rao and I hope that comes through in the series as well.”

    Hoichoi’s biggest musical thriller has dropped its TRAILER

    MUMBAI: Shei Je Holud Pakhi, a Hoichoi Original Web Series, starring eminent actor – Saswata Chatterjee and popular actress – Tridha Choudhury dropped its much awaited trailer today. Tridha is back in the Bengali Entertainment Industry after a hiatus as she was busy doing projects in Mumbai. 

    Hoichoi has recently completed 6 months since its inception, and has promised to deliver Original web series, shorts and films every month. Shei Je Holud Pakhi is one of their most ambitious projects and aims to connect music with thrill in a unique way. It is directed by Anirban Mallik, who has previously directed two of Hoichoi’s other web series Hello (Raima  Sen, Priyanka Sarkar, Joy Sengupta) and Eken Babu (Anirban Chakravarthi). 

    The trailer of Shei Je Holud Pakhi shows a story like no other, which slowly unravels itself. It starts with Shom (Saswata Chatterjee), a police officer who has lost his daughter, Mitil, 5 years ago. He is trying to connect to his daughter through pop sensation and lead singer of Euthanasia, Vaidehi (Tridha Choudhury) by requesting her to sing one of Mitil’s songs. She promises Shom that her last song of the concert would be Mitil’s song but she does not keep her promise. She goes out for her regular drive after the concert, and an agitated Shom follows her only to see her car crash. The media gets involved and even Shom is accused for Vaidehi’s death. The mystery starts as all band members of Euthanasia are suspected even though it appears to be a case of reckless driving. An exasperating plot line develops as Shom with his right hand continue their investigation where they try to find the real Vaidehi through her music and songs. 

    Saswata Chatterjee, the lead actor of the series, went on to say: Shei Je Holud Pakhi is an emotionally driven series, where my daughter has walked out on me and how as a father, Shom becomes a broken man. Realising his mistakes, he is willing to do anything to get her back and finally, accepts the fact that music connects them.” 

    The pop sensation Vaidehi, is being played by Tridha Choudhury, who exclaimed: “Vaidehi is a very complex character which I had to portray, even had to learn how to strum a guitar. So, overall, it was a fun experience for me!”
