MUMBAI: Television icon Barbara Walters, prominent broadcast station group leader Dennis Swanson and cable network pioneer Judy McGrath have been named as the 2004 Television Century Award recipients by the Promax&BDA organization. Jim Chabin, CEO of Promax&BDA, the world’s largest promotion and marketing organization, made the announcement.
Launched originally in May 2003, the Promax&BDA Television Century Awards were created as an annual award to honor television’s elite for their contributions to building brands. Walters (ABCNEWS correspondent, correspondent and anchor of ABCNEWS 20/20 and The Barbara Walters Specials; and co-host and executive producer of ABC Daytime’s The View); Swanson (EVP, CEO, Viacom Television Stations Group) and McGrath (MTV Networks Group president), will receive their Television Century Awards during a special awards ceremony as part of the annual PROMAX&BDA Conference, being held 23-25 June at the New York Hilton & Towers in New York City.
In making the announcement, Chabin stated: “As the television industry continues to reach undeniable milestones, it is the responsibility for our organization to honor the change agents who continue to build and maintain the strength of the worlds leading brands. Our award winners have displayed a passion for delivering unique entertainment experience to audiences. They exemplify what Promax&BDA is all about and we look forward to honoring them in New York.”
The second annual Television Century Awards will be presented as part of the Brand Builders Awards ceremony, recognizing the marketing and promotion executives in broadcast and cable television as well as program syndication.
