    Vodafone Idea and Starz launch Lionsgate Play in India

    Mumbai: Vodafone Idea Limited, India’s leading telecom operator and STARZPLAY, the international premium subscription platform from STARZ, a Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) company, have joined hands to launch Lionsgate’s premium service Lionsgate Play in India. This partnership will enable Vodafone Idea customers’ access to a broad portfolio of celebrated blockbusters and award-winning feature films from the studio.

    Video is the new growth driver in the digital content consumption today. Vodafone Idea’s partnership with STARZPLAY is a step towards boosting the growth of the digital ecosystem in India. The partnership will capitalize on this huge potential by offering viewers with an array of premium content across genres.

    Lionsgate Play will be available to Vodafone Play and Idea Movies & TV subscribers as a part of this strategic collaboration between the two companies. The offering includes multibillion-dollar global blockbuster franchises The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga, multiple Academy Award ® winner La La Land and the international breakout hit Wonder, with much of it available in four local languages. The content library will be spread across genres like horror, comedy, drama, action, thriller, documentaries to name a few.

    Following the launch, the offering will boast an illustrious line up of digital premieres of Lionsgate films coming to the service in the first year including Robin Hood, Crank, Sahara, Redcliff, Jersey Shore Attack, Killers, Grudge, Letters to Juliet, American Pyscho 2, Nerve, Facing Ali, Down A Dark Hall  and American Assassin.

    Anton Yelchin, Ashley Greene to star in indie horror comedy

    MUMBAI: Anton Yelchin, who starred in Star Trek Into Darkness and The Twilight Saga’s Ashley Greene will star in Joe Dante’s indie horror-comedy, Burying the Ex.

     

    To produce the film, Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures has come aboard.

     

    Alan Trezza has written the story of the film in which the lead characters – Max (Yelchin) and Evelyn (Greene) move in together as their relationship takes a nose dive. But soon Max discovers that Evelyn quite controlling and manipulative. However, he’s too scared to break up with her. When fate steps in and Evelyn dies in an accident, newly-single Max prepares to move on with Olivia (Daddario). His romantic life becomes complicated when Evelyn rises from the grave and sets out to get her boyfriend back, even if that means turning him into one of the undead.

     

    The production of the movie is scheduled to start on Monday in Los Angeles.

    Kirsteen Stewart to sell her sheer dress for charity

    MUMBAI: Kristen Stewart has decided to sell the sheer dress that she wore at the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 for charity.
    The actress is giving away the Erdem frock to a CharityBuzz auction that would benefit the Robin Hood Foundation‘s Sandy Relief Fund that provides long-term support to those affected by the storm.
    The current high bid on her garment, which has an estimated value of 7,500 dollars, is 3,750 dollars but it may increase.

    MUMBAI: PVR Pictures is all set to release Breaking Dawn- Part 2, the final instalment of The Twilight Saga in India on 23 November.

    The fifth and last film in the blockbuster vampire series is being eagerly awaited in India and is expected to better the box office records of the previous four films in the series so far.

    The film has already scored best weekend opening worldwide and in the history of the franchise, thanks to massive international business.

    Said PVR Pictures President Kamal Gianchandani, “The Twilight Saga has been a resounding success for everyone involved with the film. Whether it‘s the leading stars or the cult status that the book has achieved, it is all thanks to the film‘s universal appeal. With its huge global opening of $ 340.9 million, we are looking forward to a similar response to the film here in India as well.”

    The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 topped the worldwide weekend box office with $340.9 million opening, including $141.3 million domestically from 4,070 theaters and $199.6 million internationally from 61 markets.

    Directed by Bill Condon, Breaking Dawn 2 returns Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in the lead roles for a final time. Breaking Dawn 2 has drawn tremendous response from audiences globally, having captured the attention of teenagers, men, women and elders alike with each passing film. Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is easily among one of the most awaited Hollywood films in India, expected to surpass domestic box office records for all overseas films releasing this year.

    In North America, Breaking Dawn 2 opened ahead of the $138.1 million grossed by The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 on the same weekend last year. Overseas, Breaking Dawn 2 opened well ahead of previous Twilight films in almost every territory.

    The franchise has so far yielded over $2.5 billion worldwide, half of it coming from American theatres.

    MUMBAI: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 has topped the box office for the third week.

    The latest ‘Twilight‘ film has so far reaped in $16.9 million for a third-straight No. 1 finish during one of the year‘s slowest weekends at the box office. The Summit Entertainment blockbuster raised its domestic haul to $ 247.3 million.

    Coming in the second place again was Disney‘s The Muppets with a collection of $ 11.2 million dollars thereby enhancing the film‘s domestic total to $ 56.1 million.

    With no new wide releases opening after the busy Thanksgiving weekend, ticket sales nose-dived with other holdover films managing so-so revenues.

    Censor Board passes The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn without cuts

    MUMBAI: The Censor Board has cleared The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part – 1) without a single cut, but given it an ‘A‘ certification.

    The film has a love sequence between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the protagonists of the vampire movie.

    PVR Pictures is marketing and distributing the film in India.

    PVR Pictures president Kamal Gianchandani said, “Though we would have loved to have a ‘U‘ certification as it would have given us a large prospect, we are very happy that the film has been passed without a single cut.

    “We were apprehensive on one of the love making sequence of the movie which was already making news in the international media circle which was recorded without a single cut. We are happy to present the movie in totality to the Indian audience.”

    The movie had seen a bumper box office opening at the international box office with the opening day collection of $283.5 million. It will release in India on 25 November.

    Twilight saga collects $ 283.5 mn globally

    MUMBAI: Summit Entertainment‘s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn opened to a massive opening garnering $139.5 million in its first weekend domestically and $283.5 million globally.

    The domestic total now happens to the second-best debut weekend for the franchise after the $142.8 million opening that the 2009 film The Twilight Saga: New Moon collected. The new film did more than half of its business of $72 million when it opened on Friday.

    Opening in 54 overseas markets, Breaking Dawn roped in $144 million internationally, according to a studio estimate. The film opens in India on November 25.

    On the other hand, Warner Bros.‘ Happy Feet 2 could rope in just $22 million in its opening weekend; half of what the first film in the animated franchise earned in its 2006 debut. It stood at the second position.

    Last weekend‘s No. 1 film Immortals, Relativity Media‘s action tale, dropped to the third position collecting $12.3 million.

    MUMBAI: PVR Pictures is all set to release Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I on 25 November.

    Breaking Dawn, one of the most anticipated film in the Twilight series revolves around the love story of a vampire Edward Cullen and a human Bella Swan. The highlight of the film is probably the wedding of Swan to Cullen and her being impregnated with a vampire offspring.

    Twilight fans have been waiting to witness the much talked about wedding.

    PVR has also arranged a paid premiere for all those fans who want to watch the film before anyone else at selective PVR screens across Mumbai on 24 November.
