    Warner Bros. Home Entertainment to debut UHD Blu-Ray titles in 2016

    MUMBAI: To coincide with the availability of Ultra HD Blu-ray players in the marketplace in early 2016, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will be offering four titles on Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-ray at initial launch showcasing 4K Ultra HD resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR), offering consumers a sharper, brighter and more colourful home entertainment viewing experience than ever before.  

    The first available titles will be Mad Max: Fury Road, San Andreas, The Lego Movie and Pan.

    Following quickly will be theatrical new release titles available day and date with their initial home entertainment release as well as a selection of catalog titles throughout the year including Man of Steel and Pacific Rim.

    By the end of 2016, Warner Bros. will have over 35 titles available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. To complement the disc releases, Warner Bros. will also expand the titles available on 4K Ultra HD with HDR via digital retailers. Dolby Atmos will also be included on select titles for a truly immersive home theater experience.

    Warner Bros.’ Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs will feature 4K resolution, High Dynamic Range for enhanced picture vibrancy and colour contrast, a wider range of available colours, smoother colour transitions, and immersive audio on select titles.

    Merlin Entertainments plans 4D film on ‘The Lego Movie’

    MUMBAI: Merlin Entertainments is partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The Lego Group to bring a new 4D animated film based on the popular characters of The Lego Movie, from Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures and Lego System A/S, to guests at LegoLand Parks and LegoLand Discovery Centers around the world later this year.

     

    The new 4D animated film will open exclusively at the six LegoLand Parks and 11 LegoLand Discovery Centers in North America, Asia and Europe.

     

    Using elements such as wind, water, smoke and special lighting effects, the larger-than-life experience brings the film’s main characters, Emmet and Wyldstyle, back together with their friends for another awesome adventure.

    ‘Hunger Games’ actress to direct Pitch Perfect 2

    MUMBAI: Elizabeth Banks, the actor, who brought life to the Capitol-born chaperone in the Hunger Games film franchise, is all set to make her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 instant hit – Pitch Perfect.

     

    According to Variety, Elizabeth Banks has been targeted to head the project after directing a segment of last year’s sketch comedy – Movie 43. The actress worked as a co-producer on Pitch Perfect and starred as commentator Gail Abernathy-McKadden.

     

    Banks will produce the sequel alongside Max Handelman (Surrogates) through their Brownstone Productions. Gold Circle Films’ Paul Brooks (The Wedding Date, Over Her Dead Body) and Jeff Levine will co-produce, while Scott Niemeyer (The Haunting in Conneticut, Life as We Know It) will be the executive producer. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are both expected to reprise their roles in the sequel.

     

    Banks recently reprised her roles as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which has grossed over $850 million worldwide, and is one of the voice artists in The Lego Movie, which opens 7 February in India.
