    &Privé HD to premiere the gripping thriller ‘The Hunter’ this sunday

    MUMBAI: &Privé HD, the newest destination for nuanced cinema, is all set to premiere the Australian thriller-drama The Hunter on 18th of March at 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Directed by Daniel Nettheim, the riveting movie stars Willem Dafoe, Sam Neill, and Frances O’Connor in pivotal roles.

    Based on the novel of the same name by Julia Leigh, The Hunter revolves around a professional and ruthless mercenary, Martin (Willem Dafoe) who is sent into the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger which is believed to be extinct. Posing as a scientist, he sets up a base-camp at a broken-down farmhouse living with a family whose father is missing.  As his attachment to the family grows, he encounters unforeseen dangers which complicate his already deadly mission.

    Presenting multiple facets of the protagonist’s character, the movie will make some feel the cold-hearted killer’s tryst with the bereaved family, but there will be those who will feel the revelation of a gentle long-forgotten soul.

  • Globo’s ‘Merciless’ & ‘The Hunter’ premiere on U.K. & U.S. VoD

    MUMBAI: Globo’s series ‘Merciless’ and ‘The Hunter’ are now part of the Walter Presents VoD service, which is dedicated to foreign drama and comedy in the UK and U.S. The service is part of Channel 4’s online platform. The licensing of the series to the streaming service is part of Globo’s strategy to produce and distribute creative and quality content covering a range of different platforms.

    The Brazilian series are available in the platform in Portuguese language with subtitles in English. Written by award-winner Glória Perez (‘India – a Love Story’ and ‘The Clone’), ‘Merciless’ revolves around the psychopath Edu (Bruno Gagliasso, ‘Rising Sun’), a handsome, smart and articulated man who uses all of his charm to hide his real and dark personality. Responsible for a series of murders that baffle the police, Edu captivates the emotionally unstable Ray (Débora Falabella, ‘Brazil Avenue’), who falls in love with the young man while doesn’t even notice his other side. In the international market, the series has already been licensed in 4K to the Korean group EPG. In addition, SIC, one of Portugal’s largest open TV networks and a large consumer of Globo’s content, has also invested in the show.

    ‘The Hunter’ is a breathtaking 13-episode series that tells the story of André – played by charming actor Cauã Reymond (‘Above Justice’ and ‘Brazil Avenue’) –, a cop who is wrongfully imprisoned. When he gets out of jail, he is driven by a single goal: tracking leads to prove his innocence. He starts working as a bounty hunter after he is kicked out of the force, and his relentless search for the truth in the criminal underworld begins. Packed with action and sensuality, the thriller was broadcast by SIC and boosted the Portuguese network’s ratings by 55 per cent during its premiere.

    AFCA announces winners

    The Australian Film Critics Association (AFCA) has announced its winners for its 2012 film awards, focused primarily on Australian productions.
     
    Thriller Snowtown was the big winner of the event winning four awards in the best Australian film, best actor, best director and best screenplay category. The film edged out others like The Eye Of The Storm, Mrs Carey‘s concert,Oranges And Sunshine and Sleeping Beauty.
     
    The Tree Of Life was adjudged the best film in the Best Overseas Film (English Language) category while in the best Overseas Film (Foreign Language) category Incendines won and Senna won the best documentary award.
     
    Daniel Henshall won the best actor award for Snowtown. He sidelined competitors like Willem Dafoe – The Hunter, Matthew Newton – Face To Face, Geoffrey Rush – The Eye Of The Storm, Hugo Weaving – Oranges And Sunshine and David Wenham – Oranges And Sunshine.
