    MUMBAI: India Today Group has witnessed a flurry of activity at senior levels with the recent being Supriya Prasad and Rahul Kanwal getting elevated to news directors in Aaj tak and India Today respectively. And now it’s time for three more executives to get promotion. The latest movers in the hierarchy include Prerna Kaul Mishra, Sanjay Sinha and Amit Gupta, who were elevated by the company. A source close to the development confirmed the news to Indiantelevision.com.

    Mishra will now be the managing editor, social media and content services and she will also play a key role in ensuring the social media policy is followed and prevent abuse and misuse in a politically charged atmosphere.

    Sinha has been leading the rapid success of Tez and Astro Tak, which has recently crossed one million subscribers. He has now been promoted as the senior executive editor and will continue leading Tez, Tez’s contribution to YouTube via Astro Tak and the brand new The Lallantop show.

    Gupta, who is the chief executive officer of Mail Today, will take on added responsibilities as the head brand solutions across publishing and digital. His job will be to support clients in reaching target audiences through unique, customised experiences across publishing and digital platforms.

    Last month India Today TV appointed Ranjana Mangla as the national revenue head. Earlier this year, the network promoted Kalli Purie to managing director and vice chairperson for a tenure of five years, which started from 1 April 2018.

    Ranjana Mangla appointed national revenue head of India Today TV

    MUMBAI: Ranjana Mangla has been appointed the national revenue head of India Today TV. She will report to the chief revenue officer Rahul Kumar Shaw and will be based out of the ITG Mediaplex, Noida. 

    Previously, Mangla has worked with Discovery Jeet where she served as director – ad sales, India. Other than sales responsibilities, she also managed content partnerships for the entire network. She handled Viacom18 as vice president – sales and served the organisation for more than four years. 

    Mangla has over fifteen years of experience in large and medium sales team management, complex commercial deal negotiations with expertise in revenue strategy, large scale product launches and C-level market relations.

    Starting her career as a marketing and PR specialist in Visionaire India, Mangla has also worked with companies like NDTV Lifestyle Ltd., NDTV Imagine, Star India Private Ltd., and the Dainik Bhaskar Group of Publications. 

    Hersh Bhandari, who Mangla has replaced, will now take charge of Tez as national revenue head. He will continue reporting to Shaw.

    Bhandari joined the India Today Group as national revenue head (India Today TV) in April last year. Previously, he has worked with the Times Network for more than 10 years. Bhandari started his career as a marketing manager at Star TV’s Channel V and served the organisation for two years.

  • TV Today numbers up

    BENGALURU: TV Today Network Limited (TVTN) reported greatly improved consolidated results for the year ended 31 March 2017 (FY-17, current year). The Arun Purie controlled company’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) increased 60.7 percent to Rs 991.13 million (15.7 percent margin of Total Income) as compared to the Rs 616.66 million for the previous year. TVTN’s Total Income increased 4.7 percent to Rs 6,305.77 million in the current year from Rs 6,021.98 million in FY-16.

    The improvement in performance was due to the improvement in the company’s Television Broadcasting (TV) segment, which was offset by the poor performances of TVTN’s radio and Newspaper Publishing segments.

    The TV Today television network is an English-Hindi news television network. It consists of the several news channels that include Aaj Tak (Hindi), India Today Television (English), Tez (Hindi), Business Today (English) and Delhi Aaj Tak (Hindi). TVTN’s TV segment reported operating revenue growth 5.7 percent forFY-17 to Rs 5,637.53 million from Rs 5,330.29 million in the previous year. TV segment operating profit for the current fiscal increased 1 percent to Rs 1,577.26 million from Rs 1,561.04 million in the previous fiscal.

    TVTN has made attempts to dispose its radio segment – it which runs FM radio stations under the brand Oye FM. It has been partly successful in that endeavour to the extent that government regulators have permitted it to succeed. TVTN’s radio segment revenue was almost flat (increased 0.4 percent) to Rs 90.21million from Rs 89.88 million in the previous year. The segment had an higher operating loss for FY-17 at Rs 175.09 million as compared to Rs 136.06 million in FY-16.

    TVTN reported 10.1 percent decline in revenue of its Newspaper Publishing segment in fiscal 2017 at Rs 360.81 million as compared to Rs 401.43 million in the previous year. The segment’s operating loss in FY-17 increased to Rs 28.35 million as compared to Rs 16.07 million in the previous year.

    Total expenses in FY-17 increased 6.3 percent to Rs 4,858.79 million (77.1 percent of Total Income) as compared to Rs 4,572.06 million (75.9 percent of Total Income) in FY-16. Production costs were almost flat (increased by 0.9 percent) in FY-17 at Rs 714.20 million (11.3 percent of Total Income) as compared to Rs 707.97 million (11.8 percent of Total Income).

    Employee Benefits Expense increased 2.2 percent to Rs 1,569.13 million (24.9 percent of Total Income) from Rs 1,534.92 million (25.5 percent of Total Income). Finance Costs increased 31.3 percent to Rs 84.10 million (1.3 percent of Total Income) in the current year from Rs 64.04 million (1.1 percent of Total Income) in FY-16. Other expenses in the current year increased 13.2 percent to Rs 2,170.92 million (34.4 percent of Total Income) from Rs 1,917.81 million (31.8 percent of Total Income)) in the previous year.

    MUMBAI: One of the leading broadcast networks, TV Today Network, is seeing some top level restructuring. As part of the changes, Rahul Kumar Shaw has been instated as the chief revenue officer (CRO) for TV Today Network. He was earlier the CRO of India Today TV and business head radio. Shaw will oversee ad sales and all revenue opportunities across the Hindi cluster which includes channels like Aaj Tak, DAT and Tez. He will also look after India Today TV and the network’s radio business.

There is no reason behind my exit. I just want to pursue other career opportunities”, says Rikhy.

    Prior to joining TV Today Network, Rikhy served at BCCL New Delhi as vice president(R).

In his role, he will be responsible for addressing revenue maximisation, driving cost efficiencies and building brand salience. Merged entity magazines like India Today English, Hindi and its supplements, Business Today, Robb Report, Reader’s Digest, etc., will be under Sharma’s ambit.

    Q2-2014: TV Today reports Rs 12.83 cr as compared to loss in Q2-2013

    BENGALURU: TV Today Network Limited (TV Today) reported a PAT of Rs 12.83 crore for Q2-2014 as compared to a loss of Rs (-9.15) crore in Q2-2013. PAT for Q2-2014 was 0.7 per cent higher than the Rs 11.98 crore for Q1-2014.

    Its radio segment reported improved performance with a 27 per cent lower segment loss of Rs (-2.02) crore for Q2-2014, as compared to the Rs (-2.76) crore for Q2-2013 and 13.3 per cent lower loss as compared to the loss of Rs (-2.33) crore for Q1-2014.
