    BBC boosts coverage of MotoGP

    MUMBAI: UK pubcaster the BBC has announced that its coverage of MotoGP will be the biggest yet, with more live races than ever before and extended interactive coverage of both qualifying and post race action. In India viewers can catch MotoGP action on Ten Sports and ESS.

    All 17 races will be shown live either on BBC Two. There’s also a new addition to the team with the arrival of former Dorna Sports MotoGP commentator, Matt Roberts.

    Matt will join presenter Suzi Perry and expert duo Charlie Cox and Steve Parrish in bringing viewers all the latest pit-lane action from all 17 races to be shown in 2006.

    For the first race of the season, coming live from Jerez, the BBC will also have extended qualifying coverage and post-race reaction on BBCi – the BBC’s interactive service available to digital viewers. Commenting on the 2006 season, the series producer Belinda Rogerson says, “This is our fourth year of broadcasting the MotoGP Championship, and we are delighted to be providing viewers with more live and interactive coverage than ever before.”

    Pakistans tour of Sri Lanka live on Ten Sports

    MUMBAI: Ten Sports will telecast live and exclusive the complete tour of Pakistan to Sri Lanka.

    The coverage starts with the first ODI at R Premadasa Stadium on Friday, 17 March. This will be followed by the second ODI at the same venue on 19 March, and the final ODI at SSC Ground on Tuesday, 21 March.

    The first Test will be played at the SSC from 24 March to 28 March, followed by the second Test match at Kandy from 1 April to 5 April.

    Live coverage of the first ODI begins at 2 pm, while the second and the third ODI will begin at 9:30 am. The two test matches will also begin at 10:00 am.

    The Schedule

    ODIs – 1st ODI – Colombo (RPS) 17 March; second ODI – Colombo (RPS) 19 March; 3rd ODI – Colombo (SSC) 21 March.

    Test – 1st Test – Colombo (SSC) 24-28 March; 2nd Test Kandy 1-5 April.

    India England series holds on to ratings

    MUMBAI: Holding on to the cricket loving audience. That is what the first test match in the India England series has managed to do. Tam figures indicate that the ratings achieved were similar to what had been done when India played Sri Lanka last year and only slightly less than what was achieved when India toured pakistan..

    Tam data c&s 4+ shows that for the first test match DD had a rating of 1.6 while Sahara One managed a rating of 0.9. This is similar to the ratings that the India Sri Lanka test series got last year.

    DD had a rating of 1.6 while Zee Sports had a rating of 0.8. Of course one must consider the fact that Sahara One has better connectivity than Zee Sports. Where Sahara One fared better was in the Hindi Speaking Markets. It managed a rating of 1.3 compared to the 0.9 that Zee Sports managed during the India Sri Lanka test matches.

    The good news is that the test ratings for the India England series was only slightly less than what Ten Sports managed for the India Pakistan tests which was 2.9 c&s4+. The India England series delivered 86 per cent of the audience for the India Pakistan series c&s4+.

    Test cricket rates better among men. For males c&s ABC 15+ DD managed a rating of 2.2 while Sahara One managed a rating of 1.2. The India Sri Lanka test series managed a rating of 2.3 on DD and 1.2 on Zee Sports. Ten Sports got a rating for 4.3 for the India Pakistan test matches.
