WWE Armageddon explodes on Ten Sports

MUMBAI: Ten Sports 2006 coverage of WWE will finish with an almighty bang this Sunday when it brings exclusive coverage of WWE Armageddon.

Headlining the explosive bill will be the tag team match of the year when King’s Court made up of King Booker and Finlay face up to two champions in WWE Champion John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Baptista.

There has been no love lost between the two teams with tension brewing for the last couple of months but the big question is whether the veteran pairing of King’s Court will be able to gel as a team in order to hold off what is sure to be a ferocious onslaught from the double World Champions.

Another highlight will see Kennedy attempt to make it three victories in a row over The Undertaker in a Last Ride match where victory can only be secured by putting your opponent into the back of a hearse and driving out of the arena. Kennedy, one of WWE’s most vocal stars has pulled off two big surprise victories over the veteran Undertaker in recent months but how will he fare in a match that favours the veteran Phenom.

Kane takes on MVP in an inferno match in another much anticipated contest while Chavo Guererro tries to capture Chris Benoit’s United States title; Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms faces Jimmy Wang Yang and WWE Tag Team Champions Brian Kendrick and Paul London face Dave Taylor, William Regal, MNM and the Hardys in a Ladder Match.

South African Airways Open Live on Ten Sports

MUMBAI: Ernie Els heads a high-class entry list for the South African Airways Open, which is being broadcast, live on Ten Sports beginning Thursday 14th Dec’06.

Surprisingly the Big Easy has won the event only once before despite it being played in his home country and he will find it tough to increase that number against a top quality field.

Fellow countryman Charl Schwartzel is in the form of his life presently and will be desperate to make amends for missing out in the Alfred Dunhill event last week where he looked to be on course for victory before putting his second shot into the water on the 18th hole.

That mistake allowed rookie Alvaro Quiros to snatch victory and give him entry into this weekend’s European Tour Event where he will be competing against not only Els and Schwartzel but also Lee Westwood, Angel Cabrerra, Scott Drummond and two time winner Trevor Immelman.

For the first time the event will be held at the challenging Humewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth and as always it is the course that is the biggest obstacle for any of the players seeking to claim first prize.

Ten Sports coverage gets underway on Thursday at 17:30 hrs

  • Ten Sports to explode with Backlash on May 14th

Ten Sports to explode with Backlash on May 14th

Mumbai, May 12, 2006: The Terrible Trio — Cena, Triple H and Edge – will get involved in yet another hell-raising Battle of Fury. The mayhem is all set to explode on the WWE pay-per-view, Backlash on Sunday, 14th May 2006 at 11.00 pm on Ten Sports.

An annual WWE event, Backlash which started in 1999 has a huge fan following. Triple H is the only wrestler to have competed at every Backlash event with a win-loss record of 3-5 to date.

But the question that rankles all — is the reigning champ, John ‘The Champ’ Cena indomitable? Though Cena has been pinned down by both Triple H and the Edge in the past, this match could just change the fortunes of the ‘Champ’. Whatever the outcome, this match will display perseverance, muscle power and ofcourse, bloodied faces, the hallmark of Backlash.

Also present will be rivals, McMohan with son Shane who will try to beat the life out of Shawn Michaels and his divine, imaginary partner ‘God’. The ‘Kane v/s Big Show’ match could prove true to the most gory tagline of WWE : ‘an eye for an eye’ as Kane could probably make a beeline for Big Show’s eyes! Is he good at gouging? Wait and watch!

By far, an interesting and entertaining match will be featuring the two most athletic superstars in WWE today — Rob Van Dam and Shelton Benjamin — in the Intercontinental Championship. The stakes are definitely higher in this winner-takes-it-all match.

And not to be left behind are the female contenders to WWE. – Trish ‘Psycho’ Stratus and Mickie ‘Cat’s claws’ James – who will provide with a heady combo of brain, brawn and beauty – a match with so much edge-of-the-seat action, you’ll hardly be able to lean back in your armchair!
