    MUMBAI: Grey group India has appointed Aritra Chaudhuri as new senior creative director in its Bangalore office. Chaudhuri will be responsible for driving the agency’s creative mandate for its impressive mix of clients based out of Bangalore.

    Grey group India chief creative officer Sandipan Bhattacharyya said, “While a lot is said about the need for experimental, medium-bending work in our industry, very few actually walk the talk. Aritra displays that rare knack for exploring the new and finding ways to create pop culture that makes brands famous”

    He joins with 10 years of extensive experience in various sectors including strategic planning, advertising, integrated campaign design, trans media storytelling, digital marketing, social media, art direction and graphic design.

    Before joining Grey, he has worked with Leo Burnett as the creative director, where he was responsible for creating a yardstick and setting up the creative team in Delhi. Brands he handled there includes Olx, Snapdeal, Bacardi and SBI Cards. Enormous, Commonwealth and Mccann Worldgroup, Ogilvy and Mather, JWT, TBWA are the other agencies he worked with. He has been creatively associated with various brands like SBI, Zaffran, Baskin n Robbins, Chevrolet, The Economist, Sony, Taco Bell, Tropicana, Mountain Dew, National Geographic, History Channel, Pedigree, Adidas, etc.

    Rage Communications appoints Neville Medhora as India business head

    MUMBAI: Rage Communications has appointed Neville Medhora as its head of India business.

    Medhora till recently, the head of Rediffusion-Y&R’s Mumbai office joins Rage Communications after a twenty-year journey that traversed across most of the leading advertising agencies in India. 

    Apart from Rediffusion-Y&R, Neville has had substantial stints with Equus, Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA and JWT. In his extensive advertising stint, Medhora has worked with some of the largest and most successful brands in India across many categories.

    Rage Communications director Karthik Kumar commented, “Neville’s joining Rage will add significant depth to Rage’s overall offerings in India and bring fresh thinking in the way digital will contribute to its clients building strong and sustainable engagements with their consumers.”

    MUMBAI: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi has named Meraj Hasan as vice president – planning.

     

    He joins the agency from Reliance Industries, where he was working on the company’s 4G service – Jio and will be based out of Mumbai.

    Omnicom bags top honors at 2015 Spikes Asia Festival

    MUMBAI: Omnicom agencies took the top honours at the annual Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity. BBDO received the night’s top honor, Network of the Year, for the second consecutive year, with DDB placing third. The award comes on the heels of BBDO winning the Cannes Lions APAC Network of the Year.

     

    On the other hand, Colenso BBDO won Agency of the Year and DDB Group New Zealand placed third. OMD China was among the top three Media Agencies of the Year.

     

    In total, over 40 Omnicom agencies in 12 countries contributed to nearly 150 Spike awards. More than any other holding company, Omnicom agencies won four Grand Prix awards in Design, Digital, Direct, and Promo and Activation, as well as three Creative Effectiveness awards.

     

    Colenso BBDO’s ‘Reduce Speed Dial’ innovative campaign for Volkswagen was a multiple award-winner taking the top prize in Digital and Direct. WhybinTBWA won a Grand Prix and two Golds for their ‘It’s Your Call’ campaign for 3AW. DDB Group New Zealand was among the top three agencies and won two Grand Prix awards, the highest honour, in Design, Promo and Activation.

    Percept restructures; gets Shiv Sethuraman as CEO

    MUMBAI: Percept has gone ahead to consolidate its diverse strategic business units to a single holistic entity called Percept One. The agency currently stands at having revenues of worth Rs 1,250 million. Along with this the agency has also appointed Shiv Sethuraman as CEO of Percept One, with effect from 14 July, 2014.

     

    He will be responsible for leading business development and integration of all marketing communication (marcom) services, creating opportunities for synergy within and across the marcom businesses of the Percept group, attaining profitability and revenue growth organically and inorganically, as also paving the roadmap for the overall marcom business of the Percept group. Sethuraman has a challenging mandate of driving a 30 per cent year-on-year growth with a target of achieving revenues worth Rs 2,750 million by 2017.

     

    Previously, the marketing communications services business of Percept spanned three separate verticals, namely creative services, media services and other marcom services. The creative services vertical encompassed advertising, brand marketing consultancy and communications, corporate identity, strategy, creative, design and packaging and integrated marketing communication consultancy services.

     

    The media services vertical spanned media planning and buying, out-of-home media, retail media, rural media and digital media. The third vertical included a host of services including experiential marketing, sports management and marketing, incentives, conferences and exhibitions management, event management and marketing, celebrity endorsements and talent management, entertainment branding and marketing, branded entertainment, brand activations and promotions, public and media relations and social media marketing.

     

    Sethuraman has had a remarkable two decade long career in the media and communications domain. He has handled dynamic portfolios spanning global brand development and business acquisition and served as country head in Europe and also in India.

     

    Prior to joining Percept, Sethuraman was associated with TBWA, India in the role of CEO and personally led the Nissan, Adidas and infrastructure/realty cluster within the agency. He kick-started his advertising career with Ogilvy where he cut his teeth on many of the key clients of the agency such as Cadbury, Castrol, Unilever and Shell amongst others. He moved to Ogilvy, Paris in 2001 as global business director and was later elevated to the position of MD, Ogilvy & Mather, Paris where he acquired large global and regional accounts such as Louis Vuitton, Coca Cola – Europe and Europcar and also managed several businesses including IBM, Unilever and Nestle. 

     

    Sethuraman said, “Percept has been a pioneer in the entertainment, media and communications space and has set many benchmarks over the decades. With the creation of Percept One we are now bringing together the very successful individual businesses to create an integrated entity. This entity is already 700 people strong and has over Rs 1250 million in revenue, making it one of the leading companies in its space.     MUMBAI: Razorfish Germany has appointed Preethi Mariappan as executive creative director. Her appointment further strengthens the creative department of 50 people across two offices located in Frankfurt and Berlin. One of Preethi’s most notable pieces of work is the Red Tomato Pizza Fridge Magnet, which picked up four Cannes Lions in 2012. Additionally she has received global recognition at One Show, Sabre, Dubai Lynx and Effies.

     

    Preethi’s appointment is effective immediately. She brings to the role an industry wide reputation and award-winning expertise across multiple sectors. Preethi will partner with all Razorfish clients helping navigate the unknown, drive change and enabling business transformation.

    MUMBAI: Contract Advertising has appointed Rahul Ghosh as vice president and senior creative director at its Mumbai office.

    Contract Advertising NCD Ashish Chakravarty said, “Rahul and I had a short but glorious run together back at Euro RSCG, Delhi, in the early 2000’s. We won some big accounts, few metals, and had a whale of a time while at it. He has grown into a leadership role since then, and created a solid body of work along the way, including my favourite ‘Manu-Ranjan ka baap’ commercial for SET Max. So I am delighted to have him on board.”

    Prior to this, Rahul was the group creative director at TBWA, Mumbai. This is Rahul’s second stint at Contract, who comes in with an experience of 17 years. In his new role, he will be leading a creative team and will be reporting to Kapil Mishra.
