    MUMBAI: Tata Salt, one of the most trusted and loved brands in the country, through an innovative form of salt art paid rich tributes to the nation’s heroes while calling for support to Indian athletes in the Asian Games that started on 18 August in Jakarta.

    Celebrating India’s progress since independence, laurels in sports and commemorating India’s 72nd Independence Day, the salt art artistically encapsulates India’s growth story by highlighting a few of its defining moments.

    What makes this initiative special is the connect between the magical art and the brand through the usage of salt metaphor ‘Namak Ke Waastey’. The rendition of these remarkable milestones was carried out using Tata salt by artist Nandakishor Nana Tatar.

    The salt art video tagged as #NamakKeWaastey has already garnered over 2 million views on Facebook and YouTube in a day. It has received over 7k tweets and was trending at number 1 spot nationally on Twitter on 15 August. It was also shared by Mary Kom, Indian Olympic boxer and Geeta Phogat, a freestyle wrestler who won India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 on their social handles.

    The video begins with the iconic speech of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and proceeds to highlight critical moments like the green revolution, wars, the launch of Aryabhata, and the nation’s achievements in sports. The salt art tribute was not only about reminiscing India’s glorious past, but also urging the nation to come together and support the Indian athletes participating in the upcoming Asian Games #NamakKeWaastey

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Aegis Network today announced the acquisition of WATConsult, one of India’s leading social and digital media agencies, with over 160 professionals in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. WATConsult will become part of  Isobar, Dentsu Aegis Network’s global digital marketing agency and will be referred to as “WATConsult – Linked by Isobar”.

    Tata Chemicals to kick start ‘Swach Silver RO’ campaign in Feb in Karnataka, West Bengal

    BENGALURU: Tata Chemicals announced the pilot launch of its Silver RO purifiers range in Karnataka and West Bengal today. Depending upon the acceptance of its products, the company plans to complete the all-India roll-out over the next two months.

     

    It is working with its media buying agency – Lodestar – to launch a Swach Silver campaign in early February across regional television, metro branding in Bengaluru and Kolkata, car branding, outdoor and banners and radio jingles, revealed company sources.

     

    At the launch of two models of RO water purifiers, the company showcased a 15 second TVC created by Draft FCB Ulka in Hindi. “There will be two more TVCs’ on similar lines and will run in Kannada and Bangla in the respective states. Once the pan-India roll-out is complete, we will have it in nine languages,” revealed Tata Chemicals Head of Water Purifier Business & Strategy Consumer Products Business Parag Gadre while talking to indiantelevision.com . “We are working on a media plan with Lodestar and expect to have the campaign on by the second week of February in these two markets,” informed Gadre further.

     

    Eyeing an 8-10 per cent market share of the organised RO and UV water purifiers market over the next few years that the company estimates as around Rs 2,600 crore, Tata Chemicals will spend around 20 to 25 per cent of revenue towards mass media communications say industry sources. Over the next 12 to 15 months, the company should cross revenue of Rs 50 to 60 crore, and hence its ad budgets would be in the range of Rs 10-15 crore until the end of the next fiscal in March 2015.

     

    Overall, Tata Chemicals estimates the size of the RO, UV, gravity and other types of water purifier market in the country as Rs 3,500 crore per annum that is growing at a CAGR of 22 per cent. In terms of number of units, Tata Chemicals pegs the current size as about 85 lakh units, of which the RO and UV water purifiers’ market size (that includes four or five national level players and many local and regional players) would be about 14 lakh units. National level players contribute to about 8.5 to 9 lakh units, and Tata Chemicals is eyeing an 8 per cent market share of this segment.

    Tata i-Shakti unpolished dals is a recent addition to its consumer products portfolio.

    MUMBAI: Tata Chemicals has said that advertising industry watchdog, ASCI, has upheld its complaint against leaflets circulated by Hindustan Unilever (HUL), said to be denigrating its water purifier brand Tata Swach.


    “Violating the professional code of business, Pureit, the water
    purifier brand from Hindustan Unilever, had been misleading consumers through persistent smear campaigns against Tata Swach, the water purifier from the house of Tatas,” the communiqué said.


    The company said the Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI) through Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) directed HUL to pull out leaflets from the market.


    HUL retaliated by saying, “Tata Swach makes the ambiguous claim of ‘Tested for bacteria as per US EPA standards’ which can mislead consumers to believe that Tata Swach meets US EPA standards on safe drinking water.”


    Suggesting a ‘safety challenge’ in Tata Swach, the leaflets claimed that Tata Swach does not protect against viruses and bacteria; neither does it have auto shut-off, nor has a sales and service network. Moreover, among other claims, the leaftet said that Tata Swach’s per-litre running cost is higher than PureIt.


    “The CCC considered the technical data submitted by Tata Swach and concluded that the statement made in the leaflet circulated by Pureit denigrates Tata Swach,” Tata said.


    Since launching Pureit in 2008, HUL has been openly challenging rivals and consumers that its water purifier is one of a kind in offering matchless germkill water protection.


    It challenges to give away Rs 100 million to any consumer who finds any other domestic water purifier meeting the safety standards of Pureit.


    “Pureit meets the stringent US EPA standards for germ kill and we have made the various laboratory test results available for consumers to access easily and at all times on the Pureit website. We wish to also clarify that the promotional leaflets of Pureit against which the complaint has been made are not in use since July 2010,” HUL’s
    statement added.


    It further added: “We wish to also clarify that the promotional leaflets of Pureit against which the complaint has been made are not in use since July 2010.”


    HUL exports the Pureit brand to markets such as Indonesia, Mexico, Brazil and Bangladesh.
