  • Godrej’s ‘Kanta Didi’ lights up Diwali with a message of acceptance

Godrej’s ‘Kanta Didi’ lights up Diwali with a message of acceptance

Mumbai, 16 October: This Diwali, Godrej Industries Group’s brand-agnostic owned media platform, Godrej L’affaire, continues its ‘Celebrating Acceptance’ campaign with Kanta Didi, a film that challenges everyday stereotypes and redefines what acceptance looks like today. The campaign reminds us that acceptance is not the privilege of awareness but a practice of humanity.

Set within the cosy walls of a familiar home, the story unfolds between a domestic worker and a queer couple, capturing how understanding can emerge not from ideology but from instinct. What begins as a moment of hesitation turns into a heartfelt story of empathy and inclusion.

At the heart of the film is Kanta Didi, a domestic worker who encounters a queer couple for the first time while working in their home. She meets Kapil, who is new to the neighbourhood and searching for domestic help. Assuming he lives with a woman, Kanta Didi is surprised to learn the truth. Initially hesitant, Kapil finds comfort in Kanta Didi’s warmth. When he opens up about his identity, her simple, genuine response is “Acha, boyfriend hai? Toh mereko kya?” becomes a powerful moment of acceptance. Her attitude reflects a straight-forward philosophy: live and let live.

In this exchange, Kanta Didi normalises what should have always been normal. Her openness helps Kapil feel at ease, beaming with pride and confidence. The story captures the everyday India where change does not arrive through grand gestures but through small, human moments that shift perspectives.

Kanta Didi continues the conversation from Godrej’s previous Diwali films in the ‘Celebrating Acceptance’ series, reaffirming that empathy often begins at home. If Kanta Didi can learn about queer life through daily experiences and snippets from social media: “Aapke wo pride parade mein kya mast dikhte hai sab log rainbow flag ke sath!”, then what truly makes acceptance difficult for others?

Conceptualised by Agency09, the film encourages viewers to engage in honest conversations about love, identity, and belonging, from their domestic help to family and friends. Kanta Didi’s words, “Riwaazon se rishte nahi bante, hum rishton se riwaaz banate hai,” leave a lasting impression, reminding us that relationships, not rituals, define our celebrations.

Godrej Industries Group executive director and chief brand officer Tanya Dubash, said, “At Godrej L’affaire, we have always used storytelling to spark meaningful conversations around inclusion through our ‘Celebrating Acceptance’ series. Over the past three years, these films have delved into how acceptance finds expression in everyday life. With Kanta Didi, we continue that dialogue to show that true progress is when acceptance and inclusion become second nature.”

Godrej DEI Lab head Parmesh Shahani added, “At the Godrej DEI Lab, we’ve found that visible representation and policy change often reflect norms that have already begun to shift. The ‘Celebrating Acceptance’ films capture this quiet, everyday change beautifully and celebrate the fact that we are united by far more than what divides us. Recent milestones, from the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment’s consultations on lgbtqia plus inclusion to the recognition of queer partners in key social and financial frameworks, reinforce our belief that progress happens when acceptance moves from policy to practice, and eventually, into how we live.”

Onlyn India director Raz Rehman Ali said, “What drew me to Kanta Didi was its honesty. The film doesn’t try to teach; it simply observes. Its strength lies in the authenticity of a simple exchange. When someone like Kanta reacts with such effortless acceptance, it challenges the idea that empathy belongs only to the informed. Sometimes, the most powerful stories are the ones that just let life speak for itself.”

  • Godrej unveils heartwarming Raksha Bandhan films on L’Affaire and Vikhroli Cucina

Godrej unveils heartwarming Raksha Bandhan films on L’Affaire and Vikhroli Cucina

Mumbai: From our first frenemies to our oldest friends, siblings hold a very special place in our hearts. A relationship that transcends borders and time but rarely wavers. Godrej Industries Group (GIG), through its owned media platforms Godrej L’Affaire and Godrej Vikhroli Cucina, unveils two digital films celebrating Raksha Bandhan featuring Godrej Jersey. These films honour sibling bonds by blending tradition with modern values, highlighting themes of love, and connection, while subtly challenging gender stereotypes.

Godrej L’Affaire celebrates the spirit of Raksha Bandhan with a heartwarming film that unconventionally intertwines the values and traditions of the festival with #RespectAllBandhans, the third in its series. Historically, the roles of protector, breadwinner, and decision-maker were assigned to men; But times have changed and so why not celebrate our bonds with a new perspective? Raksha Bandhan highlights the sacred bond of protection and love between siblings, and this film takes a unique approach to showcasing a role reversal in the traditional Raksha Bandhan ritual. Godrej L’Affaire subtly challenges gender stereotypes and invites viewers to join them in celebrating the beautiful bond of siblingship.

Godrej Vikhroli Cucina’s digital film, “#SweetBonds,” hits a little closer to home, it is a nostalgic journey into the heart of siblinghood. It humorously rewinds time to capture the playful banter, to bickering over trivialities, and cherished moments that have shaped their bond. The film beautifully portrays how distance cannot dampen the love and connection shared between siblings. As the video unfolds, it culminates in a heartwarming Raksha Bandhan celebration, where a sister surprises her brother with a thoughtful ‘sweet’ gift. This gesture symbolizes the enduring sweetness of their relationship and the power of shared memories to bridge any gap. Godrej Jersey Mysore Pak becomes a metaphor for the sweetness of their bond, reinforcing the idea that love knows no distance.

Talking about the campaign Godrej Industries Group executive director & chief brand officer Tanya Dubash said, “This Raksha Bandhan, our films celebrate the deep and enduring bonds that define sibling relationships while embracing an unconventional perspective. These stories highlight the timeless love between siblings. From food wars to playful ribbing, all shared moments between siblings have now become ‘Sweet Bonds’. Resonating with the idea that distance cannot diminish the sweetness of shared moments the video reminds us to cherish these little moments, for they are gone in a blink of an eye.  Our films reflect our commitment to honouring these invaluable connections, ultimately celebrating the strength and love that unite us.”

Commenting on the campaign, Godrej Jersey CEO  Bhupendra Suri said,” Sweets play an essential role during festive celebrations in our country. A day of celebration and spending time with your loved ones, it adds up to festive delights. At Godrej Jersey, we have always focused on building trust and forging strong bonds with our consumers. Hence on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we are hopeful that our sweet products – Godrej Jersey Mysore Pak and Godrej Jersey Doodh Peda – will allow our consumers cherish the traditional values of this auspicious occasion,” he further added.

It did so, by unveiling a life-size installation made of e-waste material like electrical components and parts, cables, compressors, chargers, circuits etc. The creation, titled #TheNonThinkingHuman as a spin on the famous statue of ‘The Thinker’ and the concept of the ‘Thinking Man’, depicted the modern man/woman, who is not mindful of the number of electronics and appliances that he/she consumes and disposes off irresponsibly, without thinking about its harmful effects on the environment. Godrej Appliances business head and executive vice president Kamal Nandi commented, “As a responsible and environmentally conscious brand, Godrej Appliances has been developing and promoting green products and green manufacturing for quite some time. We are taking the conversation further to address e-waste awareness as a natural extension. We are also offering them an easy mechanism of just calling the Godrej toll free number 1800 209 5511 to schedule a pick up for their old appliance.”

"It's amazing the width and depth of things that Godrej does and makes, and the role they have played in nation-building over the last 122 years. The film endeavours to capture all of that in a tone and manner we've all come to expect from Godrej – with utter humility and childlike enthusiasm." said Creativeland Asia chief creative officer Anu Joseph.

Godrej says it’s “All Safe Here” on Republic Day

MUMBAI: To mark India’s 70th Republic Day, Godrej launched the campaign, “All Safe Here”, featuring a video highlighting Godrej’s contribution to safety and security for the people in the country. The campaign has been conceptualised by Creativeland Asia.

In a press statement, the brand said, “From securing homes with its unpickable locks to securing workspaces and banks. From helping create beautiful memories in green and safe Godrej homes to keeping germs at bay. From enabling a safe environment for kids at home or at play to fortifying our grounds in an effort to build a Malaria-free future India. From safeguarding the nation by manufacturing key subsystems for BrahMos and other missiles to a commitment towards making the world a lot greener.  Godrej has been continually at it. And will continue innovating constantly, to keep it #AllSafeHere.”

Speaking about the project, Creativeland Asia chief creative officer Anu Joseph said, “Putting together Godrej’s list of contributions to the nation and how the company touches and safeguards so many million lives every day, is both an enriching and a humbling experience. It’s also poetic in a certain sense. The effort was to say the story in a simple and yet evocative way. That’s what we’ve done.”

Godrej Group executive director and chief brand officer Tanya Dubash commented, “Godrej’s journey is intertwined with that of our country and we feel passionately about keeping India and our citizens safe. From Goodnight mosquito repellents to critical parts of Brahmos missiles, Godrej has contributed towards providing the nation with products and services that instill a feeling of protection in our consumers. On this Republic day, we reaffirm our commitment towards the nation and will continue innovating and creating products in line with this nation building philosophy.”

Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. executive director and president Anil Verma said, “At Godrej & Boyce, our mission has always been about enriching the quality of life every day, everywhere and a key element of this is that people feel safe and secure. It is a matter of pride to see so many of our businesses contributing to the wellbeing of Indians in so many different ways; we are truly privileged and blessed to be able to serve our country and our countrymen. On this Republic Day, we would like to renew our commitment to making all residents of India feel safer and, hence, more free than ever before.”
