Experience ambition, greed, love, and passion in Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Sultan of Delhi’

Mumbai: Agar Delhi ka Sultan banna hai toh, jung bina goli chalaye jeetni hogi! Disney+ Hotstar has launched the trailer of their upcoming drama, Hotstar Specials ‘Sultan of Delhi’. Based on the book, Sultan of Delhi: Ascension by Arnab Ray, the series is produced by Reliance Entertainment and directed by ace director, Milan Luthria. Set to release on 13 October 2023 on Disney+ Hotstar, Sultan Of Delhi is set to take you on a journey where life is at stake and power is all you need to change the game in your favour!

The series stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anjum Sharma, veteran actor Vinay Pathak and Nishant Dahiya in pivotal roles, alongside the supremely talented ladies Anupriya Goenka, Mouni Roy, Harleen Sethi, and Mehreen Pirzada in key characters.

Recreating the magic of the vintage era of the 60’s, Sultan Of Delhi follows the story of Arjun Bhatia (Tahir Raj Bhasin), who works with Delhi’s biggest illegal arms dealer, Jagan Seth (Vinay Pathak). In a high-stakes battle for power, Arjun is tested time and again by those around him. Fuelled by ambition, and his calling to become the Sultan Of Delhi, Arjun must navigate a treacherous landscape to emerge victorious, where there is no stopping him and vengeance is unleashed.

Talking about the series, director Milan Luthria said, “I never expected such a thunderous response to our teaser. Many people called me asking if it was my next film. My team and I have worked very hard on Sultan Of Delhi, as I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned for my first outing on the web. The attempt has been to achieve a clutter breaker, a page turner of sorts. I hope the audience picks that up and enjoys it to the fullest.”

Talking about his character and the show, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “The journey of portraying Arjun Bhatia proved to be a very exciting multifaceted challenge. Arjun Bhatia serves as the central character of the series who evolves drastically as the narrative unfolds. Playing the graph of this transformation was both compelling and exhilarating. Arjun’s character helped me push my boundaries as an actor in a very different way. It was a constant balance between a physically challenging part that needed stunt and weapons training and a nuanced emotional journey that was unique to his individual relationships with other characters in the script. A very special dynamic was the friendship I developed with Anjumm Shharma. Our chemistry in the series echoes the timeless camaraderie of iconic duos like Jai and Veeru, and I am eagerly anticipating the audience’s response to it.”

Talking about his character and the series, Anjum Sharma said, “Collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar and Director Milan Luthria was an incredible experience at various levels. I used to often speak to Milan over the phone and rehearse the scenes with him before actually shooting it. Playing the role of Bangali was heart-warming and complex at the same time. Bangali is a friend that one definitely needs in today’s day and age. While shooting, it was crucial to find a correct graph of friendship between Arjun and Bangali and this helped Tahir and me develop a friendly equation and mutual respect off-screen as well.”

Talking about her role, Mouni Roy said, “Playing the character of Nayantara was a one of a kind experience. While she is bold and fearless on the outside, she is vulnerable and emotional on the inside. She has a side to her that was always looking out for love, care and acceptance. Making my web series debut with a show like Sultan Of Delhi and a Director like Milan Luthria was indeed an incredible experience and this streaming on Disney+ Hotstar is like an icing on the cake. I enjoyed being a part of the 60s era and I hope my fans and audiences enjoy this cool and subtle side of me.”

Get set to be transported to Delhi in 1960’s with Sultan of Delhi, 13 October 2023 onwards, streaming exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.

Voot’s new series to show urban marriage issues

MUMBAI: Viacom18’s OTT platform Voot announces a new 6-episode original series titled Time Out featuring Tahir Raj Bhasin and Sarah Jane Dias. After the success of its recent Voot Originals like Yo Ke Hua Bro, It’s Not That Simple, Untag and others, Time Out is Voot’s tenth original series streaming from 28 November.

It tells the story of Rahul and Radha’s perfect romance, perfect relationship and perfect life until he realises that he’s been living the life he’s supposed to and not necessarily the one he wants to. The series will introduce the audience to the side of urban marriages where the couple has to deal with issues of responsibility, reliability and readiness.

During the launch, Voot head of content Monika Shergill said, “Adulting in India has never been easy! And the cocktail of expectations & pressures, from family & society, make it even more challenging. With Time Out, we take the audience on a dramatic, fun and totally vicarious journey to explore this highly relevant & relatable modern day theme. Originals at Voot are maturing with every offering and in the coming year with a robust lineup of big series, we are aiming to become the preferred destination for the new discerning digital viewer.’

Commenting on the same, director Danish Aslam further added saying, “Voot as a platform encourages innovation in content that is both engaging and experimental. Thematically, the story is reflective of the cultural and social milieu I’m part of – married couples who are coming to terms with the idea of parenthood. Thus, directing Time Out was an opportunity to explore the insights that seemed the most relevant and immediate to my life and experiences.”

Talking about playing Rahul, Tahir Raj Bhasin said, “It was the complexity of the role that drew me to play Rahul. It was challenging to portray a character’s descent from order to chaos that leads to a journey filled with interesting yet gut-wrenching choices.”

Talking about playing Radha, Sarah Jane Dias said, “Radha is that girlfriend of yours who has her whole life figured out before she’s even lived it. For once, however, she’s forced into a situation where she has no choice but to give up the driver’s seat. I said yes to playing her because it’s always challenging for us as humans to ‘free flow’ through life and trust that things will always work out, eventually.”

  • ‘Force 2’ piracy: Viacom18 registers FIR; KSS blames it on a theatre

‘Force 2’ piracy: Viacom18 registers FIR; KSS blames it on a theatre

MUMBAI:  The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, BKC, Mumbai, has registered an FIR against K Sera Sera Digital Cinema Ltd (K Sera Sera) upon a complaint filed by Viacom18 in relation to online piracy of its film ‘Force-2’.

However, K Sera Sera Digital CEO Rahul Kanani had, on 7 December 2016, filed a police complaint against Prakash Cinema of Dabra, Madhya Pradesh, for the violation via a camcorder under different sections of the IPC and the Copyright Act, at the Amboli (Mumbai) police station, a copy of which has been sent to indiantelevision.com. The same had been intimated to Viacom18 via email as well as hand delivery of a hard copy which had been acknowledged, KSS claimed.

Starring John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin, Force 2 was released on 18 November, 2016 and the pirated print of the film was found online on the same day.

Viacom18 has alleged in the complaint that the film had been leaked online by K Sera Sera, thereby infringing Viacom18’s copyright on the film along with other offences committed by K Sera Sera under Information Technology Act, Copyright Act and Indian Penal Code.

K Sera Sera was one of the firms hired by Viacom18 for digital integration of its film ‘Force 2’, wherein the Digital Content Package (DCP) was sent to K Sera Sera before the release of the film. In order to tackle the menace of online piracy and identify the leak at source, Viacom18 had developed a pioneering internal security mechanism, involving the integration of unique identifiers in each copy of the film before the DCPs were distributed to the digital integrators.

Upon the release of the film, it was found that ‘Force-2’ was available in full length on various websites for both unauthorized download and streaming in a blatant act of movie piracy, the Viacom18 complaint stated.

Investigations by the Viacom18 team revealed that pirated copies originated from the one that was sent to K Sera Sera for Digital Integration.

According to Viacom18 spokesperson, “It is really frustrating to suffer a loss due to online piracy as tremendous amount of money is invested in production, promotion and distribution of a film. This mechanism developed by us can trace the source of piracy and further strengthens our commitment to battle movie piracy. I believe that a concerted effort from the Indian film industry and support from the general public will go a long way in eradicating this illegal act. The cyber cell is presently investigating the offences complained of and it is likely to bust the nexus involved in this illegal activity. We hope the culprits are caught and brought to justice.”

Indiantelevision.com reached out to K Sera Sera on Thursday morning, and it stated: “We would like to clarify that we have not received any intimation from neither Viacom 18 nor from the Cyber Cell department of the Mumbai Police about the said case.”

K Sera Sera further added, “As a part of this practice we regularly conduct audits of various across cinema chains where our servers are installed to stem any attempt of piracy. In November 2016, we identified one such attempt for piracy of the movie Force 2.

    • On 18 November 2016, as a part of our audit process, we purchased pirated DVDs of Force 2 from the market
    • All the movies distributed by us contain an additional watermark which helps us in our audit process
    • We inspected these DVDs for our hard-coded watermark and found one of our watermarks on a DVD, linking to Prakash Cinema in Dabra, Madhya Pradesh. The piracy seemed to be on account of a camcorder in the cinema hall.
    •         Following this discovery

o We immediately terminated the contract as well as access to the digital server for Prakash Cinema.
o We also withdrew the physical server from Prakash Cinema to check for any other attempts of infringement.
o On 7 December 2016, a complaint was filed in Amboli Police Station, Mumbai against Prakash Cinema.
o On the same day (7 December 2016) we intimated Viacom 18 about the entire matter with Prakash Cinema via an email, which also included a copy of the Police Complaint.
o On 8 December 2016, a hard copy of the email to Viacom 18 along with the Police Complaint was hand delivered to Viacom 18. The receipt of the same had been acknowledged,” KSS stated.
