    Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts inks deal for 37 films with Zee

    MUMBAI: The Shubash Ghai-promoted Mukta Arts today informed the Bombay stock exchange that is has entered into an assignment agreement and executed a term sheet with Zee Entertainment Enterprises for 37 of its films.  The deal assigns the  satellite and media rights of the films to Zee for six years, commencing 25 August 2027.

    Mukta Arts announced that the duo agreed to a 25 per cent higher fee for the rights as compared to the previous agreement. The two did not disclose what the final deal amount is.  Amongst the big films that Ghai has helmed include: Karz, Khalnayak, Hero, Ram Lakhan, Karma, Pardes, Saudagar, Taal, Yaadein, Bombay To Bangkok, Good Boy Bad Boy, Khanna & Iyer, Sham Ghanshyam.

    Mukta Arts has had a long history of working with Zee with its films being licensed to the broadcaster repeatedly. The duo signed a deal wherein the veteran film maker would make three films for Zee Studios in 2021.The first of these was 36 Farmhouse which was released in January 2022.

    Recently, Mukta Arts, Mukta A2 cinema, Zee Cinema and PVR announced that the Anil Kapoor-starrer Taal would be re-released in theatres from 27 September in the twenty-fifth year of its first release.

    MUMBAI: Alok Nath, the popular film and television star, today joined Twitter. The actor, known for his fatherly roles in the film and television, became a pop culture icon as the Sanskari Babuji on Twitter a few months back, when one of his movies was being aired on television and users began tweeting about his character and his dialogues. In the last six months, there have been close to 2, 00,000 Tweets about him and his TV character.

     

    Alok Nath has spent nearly three decades in the television and film industry and came into limelight in the mega serial “Buniyaad”. He has acted in many hit films like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Vivaah, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Taal, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and many more. Not only that but he has also played role of Sanskari Babuji on various soaps such as Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai, Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli.

     

    Alok Nath on joining Twitter said, “I’m excited to join Twitter since people have popularised my character on it and I’m happy to now finally share the real Alok Nath with the world. It feels like there was a party thrown in my honour and I didn’t attend. So I’m attending now, fashionably later than never and I’m looking forward to engaging with my fans and friends in real-time.”

     

    Pratiksha Rao, Entertainment partnerships manager, Twitter said, “We are very happy to welcome Alok Nath on Twitter. Twitter is the global town square where users can engage in live and public conversation about their interests from news to sports to films to comedy. Twitter users can now engage in conversation with Alok Nath and discover more about him outside of his TV shows’ persona.”

    Sandy Media launches second edition of ‘TAAL’

    MUMBAI: Sandy Media, publishers of two magazines, Theatre World and SoundSolutions – Asia’s resource magazines on motion picture exhibition, and audio/acoustics technology applications respectively – is launching the second edition of Theatre AV Acoustics and Light (TAAL), to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 1 to 3 December 2006.

    TAAL, meaning rhythm, is aimed to be an industry platform for theatre, audio-visual, acoustics, and lighting industries in Asia. It is an initiative conceived and conceptualised in tune with the industry demand for a new platform between the equipment manufacturers and the user communities from across the continent / globe, asserts an official release.

    The national capital is now the focus of global attention for trade and commerce and therefore is a befitting event location for TAAL. In fact, TAAL will now be hosted alternately in south and north India to sustain the national footprint.

    This year the event will be a congregation of prospective cine-mall builders/multiplexes, performance space owners/builders from across Asia, and design professionals, consultants, manufacturers, integrators and people from entertainment industry from across the world, adds the release.

    Commenting on TAAL, AV integration expert Kavy Pradeep said, “The tech sessions are too good, they have thrown up many questions which we are not even aware off. It is good that something like this is happening.”

    TFEAC and CCFEA general secretary Abirami Ramanathan added, “Though the cinema exhibition industry has been witnessing tremendous changes in technology and management, most cinema owners in India are not aware of these changes. A convention and tradeshow such as TAAL would bring about the awareness.”
