    BCCI asked to file affidavit on fresh telecast tenders

    MUMBAI: The Delhi High Court today asked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to place on record its decision to invite fresh tenders for grant of telecast / broadcast rights in India for the next five years.

    The directive came from a Division Bench of justice MK Sharma and justice Sanjiv Khanna. The Bench has been hearing a petition filed by Zee Televisions challenging BCCI’s earlier tender condition as arbitrary and aimed at ousting Indian bidders.

    According to a PTI report, the court asked BCCI to file an undertaking with regard to the said decision and posted the matter for further hearing on 16 December. The court was responding to Zee counsel Rajiv Nayar’s submission that the BCCI’s decision to invite fresh bids is placed on record on an affidavit.

    Earlier, the BCCI counsel G L Sanghvi had asked the court to dispose off Zee’s petition since the board has already taken a decision to invite fresh bidding.

     

    In a separate ruling, the Supreme Court declined to entertain any further argument relating to the recently concluded BCCI elections that saw the ouster of the Jagmohan Dalmiya faction from the seat of power.

    PTI quotes a Bench comprising Justice SB Sinha and Jusice PK Balasubramanyan as saying that any questions or objections pertaining to the report submitted by observer T S Krishnamurthy, could be raised at an appropriate forum.

    MUMBAI: The Annual General Meeting of the cricket Board would be held in Kolkata on 29 November for election of office-bearers.

    The AGM’s date was decided after a meeting BCCI secretary S K Nair had with T S Krishnamurthy, the Supreme Court appointed observer for BCCI meeting, at Chennai yesterday, says a PTI report

    Other issues on the agenda would be taken up after the election and the meeting would continue the next day if necessary.

    The Board had sent out notice about the meeting to affiliated units along with the direction given by the observer for the smooth conduct of the elections, the report adds.
