    Debkumar Dasgupta moves on from IndiaCast

    Mumbai: IndiaCast Media Syndication head (Middle East-Africa) Debkumar Dasgupta has moved on from the group after a long stint of over two decades. He will be in the company till 31 December.

    Dasgupta was currently posted in Dubai as senior VP and business head- syndication, Middle East and Africa of IndiaCast- the international and digital distribution arm of Viacom18 and TV18.

    He joined the group 24 years ago, and initially managed the domestic distribution of the channel. But his role expanded post the launch of Colors, when he was appointed to manage the Asia Pacific channel distribution and global content sales and syndication. The syndication business recorded significant growth during the subsequent decade. Later on, he was elevated to manage the channel business including subscription, ad sales, syndication in the Middle East-Africa.

    Cashfree appoints Ramkumar Venkatesan as SVP of engineering

    Mumbai: Digital payments and banking technology company Cashfree has appointed Ramkumar Venkatesan as SVP of engineering, to fuel the next phase of tech-stack innovation and product evolution.

    He will be responsible for scaling the engineering team to enable rapid innovation and customer delight, said the company in a statement.

    Venkatesan has more than 24 years of experience in ad-tech, big data, e-commerce, and database technology in the US and Indian markets. In his most recent role, he worked with Jivox as CTO and VP of engineering, where he led the growth of the engineering team and the acquisition of new customers through product innovation.

    Commenting on the appointment,  Cashfree, CEO and co-founder, Akash Sinha said, “Ramkumar has extensive experience in conceptualising and implementing quality in engineering and tech processes and teams, which is essential for a fast-growing firm like Cashfree. Over the course of his career, he has led engineering operations for tech-driven companies in many industries. Ramkumar’s expertise and domain knowledge will be invaluable as we develop our products and solutions to cater to a global customer base.”

    Venkatesan is passionate about scalability, sustainability and quality in technology and engineering teams and has a few patents in distributed systems.

    MUMBAi: In line with its recent senior management restructuring, The 120 Media Collective has brought in former Mindshare principal partner, Anita Karnik, as the senior vice-president and business head for Sniper, the commercials & content production arm of the company.

    She takes over from Chahna Rupani, and will report to the founder and CEO Roopak Saluja.

    The announcement comes shortly after the appointments of Kaizad Pardiwalla as president, and Abinandan Bose as creative director respectively, for Jack in the Box Worldwide, the company’s integrated communications agency.

    Commenting on joining Sniper, Karnik said, “I am delighted to join Sniper, which has always been a front runner (in its erstwhile Bang Bang Film days and thereafter as Sniper itself) in the business of Content – spanning commercials and multiscreen content. I look forward to creating some more magic, especially in this ‘Lean-in’ era.”

    MUMBAI: Dentsu Webchutney, the full-service digital agency from Dentsu Aegis Network, has announced the promotion of TanviJain to senior vice president and branch head in Delhi. Prior to this, Jain was vice president at Dentsu Digital.

    As part of her new mandate, Jain will be responsible for acquiring new clients apart from taking the lead in servicing the existing clients.     Etherton expanded his aegis to include financial planning on a global basis, last year. A 10-year veteran of Warner Bros., Etherton has been overseeing the entire Worldwide Television Distribution Financial Planning and Analysis team, responsible for all financial planning and analysis for the global television distribution businesses in order to guide senior management (both Domestic & International) in key decision making. Etherton will continue to report to Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution executive vice president – finance & contract administration Andy Lewis.

    “Allen’s knowledge, expertise and insights truly make him an integral member of the senior leadership team,” said Lewis. “We look forward to our continued ability to tap into Allen’s strategic smarts in our efforts to facilitate growth within our businesses.”

    Etherton joined Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution in 2005 as director of finance.     Etherton got his start in the participations department at Paramount, where he worked for three years. He joined Warner Bros. as an audit manager in the participations department. He returned to Paramount in 2000 as a production finance executive assigned to Entertainment Tonight, before returning to Warner Bros. in 2005.
