    DocuBay, IN10 Media’s SVOD service, launches operations worldwide

    NEW YORK and MUMBAI:DocuBay, the premium international documentary SVOD streaming service by IN10 Media, officially announce the launch of operations worldwide. DocuBay members are now able to stream documentary films on a variety of platforms and mobile devices, and view films from a wide range of genres including Travel, Culture, Nature, Adventure, Sports, and Biography.

    DocuBay is available in 180+ countries on a range of platforms and devices including iOS/App Store, Android/Google Play, Apple TV, and Fire TV, as well as directly through the DocuBay website, with additional platforms on the way. DocuBay will offer two methods for viewers to stream films, by choosing between two membership packages:

    Premium Membership – a quarterly/3-month membership package priced at USD/GBP/EUR 9.99, allowing viewers to stream any of the films available in DocuBay’s library with a limit of 3 downloads to watch later.

    OneTribe Membership – an annual/one-year membership package priced at USD/GBP/EUR 29.99, which also includes access to 4K titles, the ability to screen on 2 devices/platforms at a time, and unlimited downloads.

    Films are organized in affinity-based “bays” such as NatureBay, ScienceBay, CultureBay, etc., with notable features including DocuBytes, which will preview short clips of selected features; DailyBay, showcasing the release of the day; DocBuster, highlighting a select title every month; and TrendingBay, featuring relevant films from trending topics. All movies are available in English, with a new film released on the platform every day, including premium titles recently acquired through partnerships with Journeyman Pictures, Kwanza, and Ananda Media.

    MUMBAI: Leading Indian DTH player Airtel Digital TV is increasingly going to subscription video on demand (SVOD) way. Adding to its range of offering, the company announced the launch of Bangla Hitz a Bengali SVOD service. The DTH operator already offers language services in Gujarati, Tamil and Punjabi.

    This ad free service is available at f Rs 39 per month and can be accessed on channel number 702 on Airtel Digital TV. The new service will offer a whole new range of exclusive entertainment options in Bengali for Airtel DTH customers. This includes, a showcase of seven unique Bengali movies in a day, totaling up to 15-20 unique titles per week. A company press release says that the frequency will gradually be increased to four new premieres every month.

    Additionally, customers also get access to some of the finest musical performances from the region via the huge music catalog that comes with the service.

    “We are delighted to announce the launch of our subscription video on demand services in Bengali.,” said Airtel Digital chief marketing officer S. Siram,. “This service will give our users access to exclusive local entertainment content, right from the comfort of their homes.     SVOD subscriptions on the rise, pay-TV subs declining

    MUMBAI: A new report from the NPD Group reveals that the number of US households subscribing to premium TV channels over the past two years has witnessed a six per cent decline as against an inverse growth spike of four per cent for SVOD subscribers.

     

    The report, The State of SVOD, states that 32 per cent of US households were subscribed to premium TV channels in August 2013, compared to 27 per cent that subscribed to SVOD services. Overall, digital video transactions were up three per cent since 2012, reaching 70 per cent of all home video transactions in 2013. SVOD made up 71 per cent of all digital video transactions, and it continued to increase faster than all other digital acquisition types.

     

    The SVOD service, Netflix, emerged as the clear leader in SVOD. However, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime are receiving the largest growth benefits in the category, as consumers begin to add on secondary SVOD services.
