    Mumbai: Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment dropped the teaser of Bengali language film Athhoi offering a tantalizing glimpse into this eagerly anticipated cinematic experience. Capturing the essence of Shakespeare’s exploration of human emotions, Athhoi promises to be a compelling portrayal of love, deception, and rivalry in a modern setting.

    The teaser opens with the chilling line, “Every individual harbours animosity towards one another,” setting the tone for a narrative that intricately weaves together themes of honesty and love against a backdrop of intrigue and ambition.”

    In this adaptation, Sohini Sarkar breathes life into the spirited and intelligent character of Diya, reminiscent of Desdemona, while sirector Arna Mukhopadhyay brings depth and complexity to the role of Dr. Athhoi Lodha (Othello). Anirban Bhattacharya takes on the enigmatic character of Gogo, echoing the Iago from Shakespeare’s original work, and serves as the creative director of the film.

    “Athhoi,” director Arna Mukhopadhyay remarked, “With ‘Athhoi,’ our aim is to delve deep into the complexities of human emotions and present a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s timeless tale. Through this film, we hope to engage and provoke audiences, sparking conversations about love, jealousy, and ambition in today’s world.”

    The film is set to release on 14 June, “Athhoi” is poised to be a cinematic milestone, eagerly anticipated by audiences worldwide. Through its innovative interpretation, the film promises to offer viewers a thought-provoking exploration of jealousy, ambition and love in today’s society.

    Mumbai: Short video app Josh has inked a strategic partnership with East Indian media and entertainment company SVF. The collaboration paves the way for the creation of short video content from Bengali influencers and celebrities on the Josh app, said the statement.

    SVF will enable the production of more regional content by Bengali talent on the short video app Josh with the aim to empower regional creators. SVF will additionally extend its vast Bengali music library of SVF Music ranging from Bengali films, web series, and hit singles from popular artists from India and Bangladesh. This wide range of songs can be accessed by Josh’s 115+ million-strong user base.

    The partnership was announced on the eve of 25 October and was graced by hoichoi co-founder and executive director of SVF Vishnu Mohta; Josh head – creator and content ecosystem Sunder Venketraman, and VerSe Innovation chief marketing officer Samir Vora.

    “Josh and SVF, with the similar intention to create a wider content building ambiance in Bengal, is certain that this partnership will enable a lot of talents to create short format content in their regional language with advanced and easy to use video making features,” said Vishnu Mohta.

    “We at SVF, are delighted to have this avant-garde partnership that will not only enhance the scope of content innovation but also recognise the local talents, thereby supporting the overall growth of the industry,” said hoichoi co-founder and director of SVF Mahendra Soni. “The SVF-Josh tie-up is all poised to make Bengali music library available to all creators across the country, opening up the paradigm beyond mainstream content visibility.”

    SVF earmarks Rs 100 crore for 25 big-ticket movies

    MUMBAI: At a glittering ceremony held in West Bengal, the co-founders of SVF Entertainment Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni made an ambitious declaration of producing 25 big-ticket films over the next three years (until 2020), allocating Rs 100 crore for the same–a figure unheard of in Tollywood so far.

    The announcement was made at SVF Stories, which aims at becoming an annual gathering bringing notable personalities from the industry under one roof.

    SVF co-founder & director Shrikant Mohta said, “At SVF, we have always tried to do our bit to raise the bar for Bengali cinema. Our commitment will not only aim at taking Tollywood to the next level but also serve as a platform to harness fresh young talent in the industry. In fact, with the super success of Amazon Obhijaan, we are excited and motivated to make the third part of the franchise even bigger.”

    The three-year journey will also see SVF’s first film with the brilliant filmmaker Mainak Bhowmik titled Generation Aami – a ‘coming of age’ story. Birsa Dasgupta will return with a bang with Crisscross – based on Smaran-jit Chakraborty’s best seller novel as well as Bibhaho Obhijaan– an emotional saga. And Debaloy Bhattacharya will be directing his next with a new take on Byomkesh titled Bidaay Byomkesh.

    SVF co-founder & director Mahendra Soni said “We are coming up with movies with diverse genre and themes for old and young alike. The next three years will also see many firsts – we will be expanding into Bangladesh with the release of the first film starring the Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan. Siraj-Ud-Daulah will be the first ever war film of Bengal, will also see the debut of new talents and there is plenty in store for the audience to look forward to.”The first edition saw leading celebrities like National Award winning directors Aparna Sen, Srijit Mukherjee and Bengali superstars like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dev, Abir Chattopadhyay and others attending the event.
