    Chinta Shyamsundar returns as CEO of Asianet News Network

    BENGALURU: Chinta Shyamsundar will return as CEO of Asianet News Network (ANN) to steer Rajeev Chandrashekar-promoted Jupiter Media & Entertainment Venture’s (JMEV) news business following the exit of Suresh Selvaraj.

     

    Shyamsundar is currently serving as the Director of JMEV, a subsidiary of Jupiter Capital Venture.

     

    An MBA in Finance, Shyamsundar has been with JMEV for almost four years working in various capacities like CEO, CFO and COO. Infact he was Executive Director and CEO of ANN till February, 2012.

     

    His responsibilities at JMEV included value creation and acceleration for all media and entertainment ventures including regional news channels (Suvarna News 24×7, Asianet News), regional Print Media (Kannada), FM radio channels 91.9 (Bangalore, Goa & Kerala), and live music (Indigo Music).

     

    As reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, Suresh Selvaraj whom Shyamsundar now replaces, had quit the company as CEO and executive director of ANN after spending almost a year at the company. He had joined ANN in February 2012 from Outlook Group, where he spent almost 13 years.

     

    Selvaraj’s last day at ANN was 29 March.

     

    JMEV owns and operates Kannada news channel Suvarna News 24×7 and Malayalam news channel Asianet News. The company also owns and operates radio brands including Best FM and Radio Indigo.

    Asianet makes it mandatory for senior editors to disclose assets

    BENGALURU: At a time when the Indian media’s credibility has taken a beating due to cases of corruption, Rajeev Chandrashekhar’s Asianet News Network (ANN) has set the ball rolling by laying down guidelines that require among other things its senior editorial staff to mandatorily disclose assets.

    The news network said as part of its editorial and newsroom guidelines, it will also disclose the ad sales and revenues during the months leading up to and during elections.

    ANN said it will also disclose all ad sales and revenues accruing from political parties and politicians.

    For the company, which runs a Malayalam news channel Asianet News, Kannada news channel Suvarna News and a daily newspaper Kannada Prabha, the Code of Conduct and Ethics policy are an intrinsic part of the employment contract of every team member.

    ANNPL CEO Suresh Selvaraj said, “Our news brands Suvarna News, Asianet News and Kannada Prabha enjoy high credibility amongst our viewers and readers. Our leadership position in our markets is a direct consequence of the high trust in our news and in our team.

    Suresh Selvaraj joins Asianet News Network as ED and CEO

    MUMBAI: Asianet News Network (ANNPL) has appointed Suresh Selvaraj as executive director and CEO.

    Selvaraj comes from Outlook Group, where he spent 13 years.

    Selvaraj will be responsible for overall operations and management of various businesses of ANNPL, which consists of Malayalam news channel -Asianet News, Kannada news channel Suvarna News 24×7 and Kannada newspaper Kannada Prabha.

    Selvaraj said, “I am quite excited with the opportunity provided to me in this role. I am getting familiarised with the people and the processes and am very confident of doing my bit to elevate this business to the next level.”

    ANNPL chairman Rajeev Chandrasekhar added, “I am happy to have Suresh Selvaraj on board. With his successful stints earlier and media experience spanning over three decades, we are confident of consolidating our existing media brands and growing them further. We have definite plans of expansion including making further investments and expansion to new markets and platforms. I am sure having a person with Suresh‘s background will help our endeavours.”

    Selvaraj comes with over 30 years of experience in media in organisations like The Times of India Group, Deccan Herald Group, The Statesman, Outlook Group including Marie Claire, the Indian edition of the French fashion magazine.
