    ‘Election Ooh La La’ on Aaj Tak with Shekhar Suman

    MUMBAI: The prime time on one of India’s leading Hindi news channels is set to witness an outburst of giggles starting from April Fool’s day. Aaj Tak brings comic actor Shekhar Suman on its new election show Election Ooh La La from today at 9:30 pm.

     

    The 30 episode series will be aired from Monday to Saturday and will be a humorous take on elections. With quite a few episodes already in the bag, the final ones will be shot closer to the telecast date of those episodes, to ensure topicality of issues.

     

    The show has been outsourced to a production house and a multi camera set up is being used that will have Suman sketching many politicians, party symbols, presenting a unique take on mudslinging as well as connect the day’s big political story with the reality of India. This apart, he will also hold celebrity interviews.

     

    Aaj Tak managing editor Supriya Prasad said, “It is important to keep innovating and what better time to bring political satire than an action packed elections. The space has been vacant and we believe Shekhar Suman will bring an all new energy in the prime time with this show. “

     

    On air promotions for the show have already begun on the TV Today network channels. Apart from this, the channel is also going big on print, online and outdoor campaigns. To promote the new show.

    Broadcast Editors’ Association elects 15 member editorial panel

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA), the apex body of editors of news TV channels, elected its office bearers recently. The election process took place at an AGM held in New Delhi. The BEA decided to retain the status quo and unanimously took the decision and re-elected Shazi Zaman (ABP News) as the president of the body while Arnab Goswami (Times Now) was re-elected as vice president.  Deepak Chaurasia from India News was elected as the vice-president of BEA .

    Live India’s editorial boss NK Singh  was elected general secretary. There was good news for the India Today Group as well with  Supriya Prasad of Aaj Tak  being  elected treasurer of BEA.

    The 15-member executive committee of the BEA comprises: Shazi Zaman (ABP News), NK Singh (Live India), Arnab Goswami (Times Now), Deepak Chaurasia (India News), Ashutosh (IBN7), Sonia Singh (NDTV), Ajit Anjum (News 24), Vinay Tewari (CNN-IBN), QW Naqwi (India TV), Shailesh Kumar (News Nation), Supriya Prasad (Aajtak), Vinod Kapri (News Express), Dibang (senior journalist), Satish K Singh (senior journalist), and Pranjal Sharma (senior journalist).

    The BEA also constituted a credentials committee for inducting new members as the news industry has been proliferating with channels seeking to become members . The committee consists of: :  Shailesh Kumar (News Nation), Sanjeev Paliwal (IBN7) and Supriya Prasad (Aajtak).

    New Delhi 16th August, 2013: Aaj Tak, India’s undisputed Numero Uno News Channel is launching a one of a kind show, ‘Vande Mataram’ that will pay tribute to the martyrs and unsung war heroes who had put their lives at stake for the nation. The show, “Vande Mataram’ will premiere on 17th August 2013 and will be anchored by noted actor Kabir Bedi along with voice over narration by actor Raza Murad.

    The show will bring to life the untold stories behind the many wars that the Nation has fought and will honor the many soldiers who fought for the motherland. The show promises to take the viewer to the depth of India’s war stories and will get the audience to experience the patriotism, battles and victories by taking them to a different era.

    The first episode of the show will focus on the War of 1971 against Pakistan and will unravel a lot of facts including the on-ground realities, various war strategies and techniques that will be backed with original archive war footage, innovative graphics and visuals.

    The show will have a unique studio setup with real war room sets and exhilarating visual effects that will be backed with well researched content.

  • B.A.G Films Hindi news channel News24 to launch on 13 Dec

    vMUMBAI: B.A.G Films & Media Ltd is all set to launch its Hindi news channel News24 on 13 December. News24 is part of B.A.G Films & Media’s associate company B.A.G Newsline Network (P) Ltd.

    “We have successfully run the test signals. Now we are ready to launch the Hindi news channel News24 on 13 December,” said B.A.G Films and Media managing director Anurradha Prasad.

    Refusing to further divulge the programme details, Prasad said, “With the tag line Nazar Har Khabar Par, the news and current affairs channel will have news bulletin at every half hour.”

    Aaj Tak’s Supriya Prasad is News24 director of news, while Ajit Anjum is the managing editor. The position of executive editor has been filled by Times Now’s Vibhakar and Rahul Mahajan from Aaj Tak. 
    Sayeed Ansari from Star News has been appointed associate executive producer and anchor.

    Santosh Tiwari has been appointed as deputy editor – business and Kartikeya Sharma as chief political correspondent and anchor. Tiwari and Sharma are both from Aaj Tak.

    B.A.G Films & Media has three more channels in the pipeline. The channels include a wellness channel Bliss24, entertainment channel E24 and a glamour and lifestyle channel Life24.

  • B.A.G Films to launch two news channels

    MUMBAI: B.A.G Films & Media Ltd plans to invest Rs 2.70 billion for the four channels it proposes to launch as part of its strategy to diversify into broadcasting business from just being a pure content company.

    B.A.G Films will launch two news channels, says managing director Anurradha Prasad. For the Hindi news channel, it has roped in Aaj Tak director news Supriya Prasad.
    “We plan to invest Rs 2.70 billion for the four channels. We expect to launch the Hindi news channel by November. Supriya Prasad is joining us as director – Hindi news,” says Anurradha Prasad.

    The lifestyle channel could be launched during the same time while “Bliss” will be all about mind, body and soul which will roll out later.

    The two segments are being housed under two associate companies, B.A.G Newsline Network (P) Ltd and B.A.G Glamour (P) Ltd. While the news channels will be under B.A.G Newsline Network, the non news venture will be in B.A.G Glamour.

    B.A.G Films has already applied for uplinking facility with the information and broadcasting ministry to launch channels in news and non news category.

    The company will have its own distribution team. “We are in the process of hiring the distribution head,” says Anurradha Prasad.
