  • Deconstruct partners with Supari Studios for a brand film

Deconstruct partners with Supari Studios for a brand film

Mumbai: Supari Studios has collaborated with science-based skincare brand Deconstruct on their latest brand film.

With the Deconstruct film, Supari has skillfully brought attention to the brand as well as its mission of ‘Information over impulse’ in skincare regimens.

Deconstruct wanted to break through the clutter and address the deeply ingrained impulse-buying habit in consumers. With this in mind, Supari Studios created a film that identifies with Deconstruct’s 18–25 year old, primarily female audiences, and highlights the unsolicited advice that they may encounter on a regular basis.

The campaign’s protagonist represents anyone who has been confused and overwhelmed by the amount of information and misinformation they must wade through in order to find a skin care product that works for them.

Speaking on the campaign, Supari Studios creative lead Sakshi Bhasin said, “Working on the campaign with Deconstruct, we knew we had the unmissable chance to do something different and clutter-breaking. Leaning into the brand’s philosophy around skincare, we decided to bring in an aspect of humour, and talk about the unsolicited advice and ever-changing trends that surround this industry. With the kind of experience our Director, Devika Chaturvedi, brought to the table, we were able to add that exaggeration to the situations in the film and marry a skincare product with a humorous concept, a combination rarely seen in this space. As someone who has worked on a myriad of campaigns with beauty and skincare brands, this was the perfect opportunity to do something fresh and experimental”

“Since our childhood, we have been provided with unsolicited advice from multiple sources, especially when it comes to skincare,” Malini Adapureddy added, “but in the new age of knowledge economy, consumers are changing and seeking their own information.” Deconstruct aids them in this journey by providing well-researched and simple information on the website, our product labels, and our social media channels and helps them decide what is best. We want them to purchase on the basis of logic and science rather than trying to entice them with vague beauty results. Supari Studios helped us put this concept out in a succinct and relatable manner by using daily instances that most of us must have gone through at least once in life. They pulled the entire project into execution in a crunched timeline, and we are very happy to see our vision come to life beautifully in the video.”

Supari Studios creates launch campaign for CRED

India: Supari Studios, the award-winning content studio invites you to watch the quirkiest explainer video to hit our screens yet – the launch campaign of the members-only platform CRED that allows users to manage their credit card payments from one place.

Founded by Freecharge Co-founder, Kunal Shah, the team at CRED was eager to push creative boundaries; their brief to Supari Studios simply being, “Make this the best fu**ing film you’ve made”. The concept behind the launch film was to bring to life CRED’s several attributes and uniqueness, in the form of a quirky and engaging explainer video using a protagonist who is both charming and funny.

Jim Sarbh, portrayed as a typical CRED member- young, tech-savvy and sophisticatedly worldly, chronicles the many attributes of CRED in an unassuming yet humorous manner that keeps the infotainment gripping from the start. Directed by Supari Studios’ Co-founder and CCO, Akshat Gupt, the film is set in a studio that emulates life, with its narrative flowing seamlessly through very specific camera movements and transitions, serving as the hook of the film and holding it together.

Here is a link to the launch film:

Akshat Gupt, Co-founder and CCO, Supari Studios, and Director of the film on the launch campaign says “When CRED approached us to create this launch film, their ask was simple: ‘Make this the best fu**ing film you’ve made’. Keeping that in mind, I really wanted to experiment and do something we’ve not pulled off before. This was an introduction to the brand; whose character Jim embodies perfectly. Cool, suave and confident. That’s exactly why we needed someone like Jim who could pull off explaining the brand’s features while really keeping you glued.

In terms of production, we challenged ourselves and wanted to do a couple of long one- takes. We put significant effort into the production process and did several things in-camera itself rather than in post – used single-takes where we felt it could really elevate the script and narrative, rigged every light from the main source down to the smallest practical and timed them, allowing transitions from one set to another to be as smooth as possible. For one sequence, we even built a custom circular turntable that could hold Jim and our camera in position, while they transitioned between different setups – from a theatre to backstage with DIVINE, in a single take.

We had a free reign in terms of length as well, and since all features had to be showcased, we indulged ourselves with a run time of over three minutes! It’s been a unique experience shooting this one. After the 20th take, when all the elements of the camera, acting and direction came together perfectly, it felt poetic.”

  • ‘Confident Beauty’ campaign launched by Supari Studios with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

‘Confident Beauty’ campaign launched by Supari Studios with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

MUMBAI: Award-winning digital content studio, Supari Studios, collaborated with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics to launch the Indian counterpart of its global ‘Confident Beauty’ campaign, featuring its first celebrity brand ambassador for India, Tara Sutaria.

‘Confident Beauty’ is a brand equity campaign that celebrates confident women and diversity, linked to their hero foundation products and equity in shade breadth, undertone and skin tone leadership. The brand’s multifaceted approach communicates face leadership and true beauty philosophy. To address this messaging, the film showcases brand ambassador Tara Sutaria reflecting on what beauty means to her; we see an engaging montage of Tara as she prepares for a performance by rehearsing her dance, in addition to using her Bobbi Brown’s Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15, which plays an important role in building her confidence and bringing out her natural beauty when she finally gets on to stage.

The lineup holds a breadth of 43 shades, which include the 12 newly launched shades globally complimenting different skin tones, making every woman feel confident.

Giving viewers glimpses into several aspects of Tara’s personality, the Supari Studios team detailed the film’s visuals in a manner that lent the campaign authenticity to stay true to its larger messaging. Along with being an actor, Tara Sutaria is also a ballet dancer and an opera singer; keeping this in mind, the music composed played a key role in defining the film’s visual tone, with its highs and lows perfectly matching those of the script and narrative. Being a counterpart of the brand’s larger global campaign, the Supari Studios team also ensured that Bobbi Brown Cosmetics’ overall brand language and campaign requirements were retained, while adequately tying it together with Tara’s story and perspective. The campaign thus, aims to encourage its audience to defy societal norms of beauty, urging them to be more comfortable and revel in their own true skin.

Director of the film  Tanvi Gandhi said, “Since Bobbi Brown was launching its first campaign with brand ambassador, Tara Sutaria, it was important that we maintained the perfect balance between a beautiful high-fashion aesthetic and staying true to Tara's personality so as to depict her life in the most authentic and genuine way. Along with being an actor, Tara is also a dancer and performer – a skill that shines bright in the film. If I could describe the essence of the film in one word, it would be "Rhythm". From whatever we know about Tara, she is always moving, always on the go, always expressing herself to a beat. In order to accurately depict her life, we decided to create a visual language of rhythm in our film. We adapted that treatment to our cinematography, editing and music. The camera is never static in the film, it's always moving along with Tara, as a mere spectator trying to keep up with her. The music acts as a metronome with a gradual graph ending on a high as Tara finally takes the stage. The style of editing further emphasises the sense of rhythm – alternating between fast and slow cuts depending on what is needed.”

Supari Studios executive producer Mitali Sharma said, “When Bobbi Brown India approached us to make the Indian version to their 'Confident Beauty' campaign, we wanted to ensure that we keep the spirit of the Global films intact, while staying unique to Tara. Dance and music is essential to her, which is why we used the idea of beats and rhythms in the visuals and distilled it to even the editing pace of the film. It has been an amazing collaboration and you can see the zeal and energy that Tara lends to the brand. There couldn’t have been a better face for Bobbi Brown India.”

Manoti Jain to be only Indian woman at Cannes Lions 2019 ‘See It Be It’ programme

MUMBAI: Supari Studios chief operating officer Manoti Jain , is the only Indian to be selected for the Cannes Lions 2019 ‘See It Be It’ programme.  15 women from across the globe were chosen for the programme this year, all of whom will benefit from a curated learning experience at the Cannes Lions festival.

Jain and the 14 other women were selected from over 760 global applicants across the globe. The programme supports the next generation of female creative directors and takes an active role in shaping the industry to become more representative of the world we live in.

At the age of 22, Jain, along with co-founders Advait and Akshat Gupt set up Supari Studios in late 2012, after sensing a gap in the country’s digital media landscape. Since then she has helped the company grow into one of the leading content studios in India, winning international awards and building a global audience for brands such as Red Bull, Estee Lauder, Google and Twitter. She strives to create content at the intersection of film, design and technology that is empowering and relevant to audiences.

  • Supari Studios conceptualises Vh1 Supersonic’s campaign – #BeThereBeFree

    Supari Studios conceptualises Vh1 Supersonic’s campaign – #BeThereBeFree

MUMBAI: Leading up to the Vh1 Supersonic music festival, digital content studio, Supari Studios conceptualised and produced a film that draws attention to the sense of belonging that music gives us. The film uses a spoken word piece, complemented by interesting match-cuts and catchy music, to weave together a narrative targeting the festival’s tagline and collective ethos- ‘Be There Be Free’.

When did you first discover music? Was it in a quiet corner of your room, when you just got acquainted with the internet? Or was it in an old record shop down the street, a few blocks from home? Or perhaps on a sunny afternoon after school, when you and your friends shut yourselves from the world to write down new song lyrics and string together some tunes? Over the years, music brought us together and made us feel like we were all a part of something bigger, across ages and spaces, irrespective of who we were and what life threw our way.

Through the course of the film, we see a variety of different individuals in their own unique settings- all of whom can truly be themselves in a place that celebrates their uniqueness: the Vh1 Supersonic Music Festival.

Nisha Vasudevan, Director of the film said, “When the brief first came to us, the idea was to highlight VH1 Supersonic’s inclusive ethos and employ a visual language that would make it stand out from other festival properties in that space. We approached this piece with a heartfelt, poetry-based script that was meant to evoke nostalgia and take us back to a time when the internet first opened the world of music up to today's millennial. It was during those moments that we began to identify with specific subcultures, and those are the influences that make us the people we are proud to be today – and we wanted to specifically strike this chord. Visually, we decided to use match-cuts and action-cuts to move the narrative forward from person to person. The idea was to showcase a wide range of personalities while also alluding to commonalities between them all.”

Manoti Jain, Executive Producer, Supari Studios said, “When Vh1 approached us to create a film promoting their Supersonic Music Festival, we tried to put together a narrative that encapsulated the festival’s vibe and inclusive spirit, while also bringing back memories that people associate with music. The team went down a slightly different route from the usual festival videos, conceptualising a spoken word piece that was both nostalgic, as well as hard-hitting, with the aim to immerse viewers into a time and space that they could truly resonate with. We brainstormed on visuals that best represented our encounters with music, as well as on showcasing a diverse set of people, to make the film as reflective of reality as possible. Rather than using actors to play different parts in the film, we also chose to work with real people who were characteristic of each scene, so that we could best represent their stories.”

  • Supari Studios produces new campaign for Clinique ‘We Hear You’

Supari Studios produces new campaign for Clinique ‘We Hear You’

MUMBAI: Digital content studio, Supari Studios, produced the latest campaign for Clinique’s Even Better range of products and  is directed by Sameer Ghauri. Bringing on board four diverse influencers, Supriya Joshi, Lisa Mishra, Leeza Mangaldas and Teena Singh, it put together a series of fun and spunky films that offer viewers a glimpse into each influencer’s personality.

Supari Studios executive producer Mitali Sharma said, “With this campaign, we wanted to focus on the tagline ‘Even Better’ by bringing out the strong personalities of each of the influencers and how they don't like to settle in life, just like the Even Better foundation. We tried to encapsulate a piece of their life into the films by throwing in some minimal props that gave a suggestion of their profession. We also highlighted how Clinique Even Better Foundation helps each influencer, by mentioning a specific benefit of the foundation that works for them.”

Ghauri said, "Our goal was to keep the tone of the films honest and real, complemented by clean and elegant visuals that are crisply edited to music handpicked to pair with each lady’s distinct personality. The colour tone of each film was also meticulously chosen to complement the different skin tones of our influencers. The aim of the films was to celebrate the diversity of smart, independent Indian women and at the same time highlighting that the brand caters to over 50 types of different skin tones, and I feel our films managed to achieve that quite successfully."
