    GiveIndia’s ‘Team for Humanity’ fundraiser supports COVID-19 aid in India

    MUMBAI: Online giving platform, GiveIndia has launched the ‘Team for Humanity’ fundraiser to provide financial support to low-income families who have lost an earning member to COVID-19. This immediate financial aid can help ease the loss of grieving families who are at greater risk of falling further into poverty. 

    With 250,000+ families losing earning members to COVID-19, this aid will help them tide through this difficult time, as only 30 per cent of bereaved families can sustain for over a month in their current financial state. Through this fundraiser, low-income families of COVID deceased will receive a one-time cash support of Rs.30,000 (approximately $ 400/family), said the platform in a statement.

    Through one of the largest collaborative efforts towards COVID relief, the initiative has already seen support from the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Mary Kom, Dua Lipa, Lilly Singh, Pep Guardiola, Robert Pires, Yuvraj Singh, Sunil Chettri, Washington Sundar, Devdutt Padikkal and Kareena Kapoor among others. Companies including PUMA, Facebook, Myntra and Miss Malini have also joined the cause. DDB Worldwide is the communication partner for the fundraiser.

    MUMBAI: Rannvijay Singha, Rajkumar Rao, Sunil Chettri & Gurpreet Singh unboxed the much-awaited Vintage & Rare Limited Edition Collection Jeans by India’s top fashion denim brand, Spykar. 

    The pre-launch campaign included a teaser release on social media to build curiosity and buzz around the product before the big reveal. Here, the celebrities were seen giving a sneak peek of the wooden cask packaging on their Instagram stories and a shoutout saying “stay tuned for the unboxing tomorrow!” 

    On the launch day, these celebrities unboxed the specially curated wooden cask. After much build-up, the contents of the wooden casks were finally revealed… The Limited Edition Vintage & Rare Jeans by Spykar! The campaign story was weaved around the concept ‘Born 18’ to highlight the importance of being 18. The narrative was to focus on vintage denims that have been pre-aged 18 years using authentic treatments. So now, one doesn't have to wait 18 years to get into a vintage pair of denims to kindle or rekindle their 18-year-old spirit. Here, the celebrities were seen sharing personal experiences and stories about being 18. 

    The next phase of this campaign included India's top fashion bloggers promoting the limited edition Vintage & Rare Jeans on their Instagram handles through posts and insta-stories. These bloggers were carefully chosen to meet with our brand's aesthetic and theme of the collection. Our main aim was to focus on genuine engagement and quality content rather than chasing the ‘number of followers’.

    To amplify the campaign further, radio was added to the mix. India’s leading RJ, Mallishka and her counterparts were been on-boarded to spread the word.

    Bollywood actors take on cricketers in football for charity

    NEW DELHI: Demonstrating their care for fellow Indians, film personalities led by Abhishek Bachchan took on a team of cricketers led by Virat Kohli in a charity football match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in a charity football match at New Delhi over the weekend.

    The All Heart Team of cricketers emerged victorious by 4-3 on Saturday night against the All Star team.

    The funds raised from the match went to the Magic Bus foundation, which works for underprivileged children. Virat Kohli launched the team for his foundation ‘All Heart Football Club‘ against the All Stars Football Club.

    The All Stars team was coached by former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia and Sunil Chettri trained the All Heart Team.

    Manoj Tiwari who scored two very important goals for his team was awarded man of the match.

    "Indian cricketers are in a habit of winning matches with a scoreline of 4-0. We were scared we would get the same treatment, but all credit to our team especially Ranbir Kapoor for having fought so brilliantly against the cricketers," said Bachchan at the press conference after the match.

    Talking about the team composition, vice-captain Ranbir Kapoor who was disappointed at having missed the penalty said they had been practising for over six months for the match.

    "Everyone who was regularly practising with us today was given a chance to play. There is nothing to be ashamed of in losing 4-3 and it was an honour to step up and compete against the mighty cricketers," he said.

    Talking about the prospect of arranging a revenge match, Abhishek said a few games were in the pipeline with talks doing the rounds that the two teams will square up again in Sikkim for Bhaichung Bhutia‘s foundation.
