Sun Pharma’s #SecondBirthDate returns with a shot of inspiration from Sumit Antil

MUMBAI: Sun Pharma is back with its acclaimed #SecondBirthDate campaign this National Doctors’ Day, and this time, it packs a javelin throw of inspiration. Fronting the initiative is para-athlete Sumit Antil— a five-time gold medallist, Padma Shri and Khel Ratna awardee — who credits his second shot at life to the doctors who pierced him back together after a devastating accident.

Antil’s moving story begins in 2015 when a road accident at age 17 shattered his dream of joining the Indian Army or becoming a wrestler. “26 May 2015 is my #SecondBirthDate — the day I began chasing a new dream,” said Antil. “It was the doctors who helped me rise again.”

The campaign, now in its third year, continues to honour doctors as life-givers, with Antil joining previous campaign faces like actor Sushmita Sen and cricketer Rishabh Pant, both of whom shared their stories of recovery and gratitude.

Sun Pharma CEO – India business, Kirti Ganorkar said, “#SecondBirthDate is our tribute to doctors who give people a second chance at life. What began three years ago as a humble initiative to celebrate the life of healthcare professionals has grown into a national movement, powered by countless personal stories of hope, courage, and gratitude. We are truly honoured to have Sumit Antil join the initiative this year. His resilience and determination to make a meaningful impact reflects the same spirit that drives our doctors, a shared commitment to making a difference in society.”

Also lending their voices this year are Indian Idol winner Pawandeep Rajan and digital creator Himani Guher, both sharing deeply personal accounts of resilience and recovery.

Crafted by Ogilvy India, the campaign has gone live across print and digital, with past champions like Harmanpreet Kaur and Sushmita Sen once again backing the cause.

MUMBAI: With summer season descending on the Indian subcontinent, Sun Pharma Consumer Healthcare has roped in Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi as the new brand ambassador of Abzorb anti-fungal powder dusting powder.

In a new campaign conceptualised by Lowe Lintas Mumbai on the theme ‘Apnao Abzorb ka haath’, Tripathi is seen promoting the prophylactic usage of Abzorb dusting powder to keep fungal infections at bay.

Sun Pharma launches ‘Thank you Doctor’ campaign

NEW DELHI: Sun Pharma has launched a ‘Thank you Doctor’ campaign to express gratitude towards doctors for their sacrifices and selfless service. The campaign features a one-minute TVC which is based on testimonials of 12 real-life patients who have recovered from cancer, heart attack and Covid2019 disease, among others. The patients are seen thanking doctors for their bigger role of being their family, friend and nurturer. Originally shot in Hindi, the video has been dubbed in six regional languages. The three week campaign is now live on TV and social media platforms.

‘Paheli meeting mein dard nikal diya’ (Removed pain in first meeting itself), ‘Haath thama, dil jeet liya’ (Extended help and won my heart), ‘Maut ke munh se khinch laaye’ (Saved me from death), ‘Maa jaisa khyal rakha’ (Cared like a mother) – the patients are seen thanking doctors in the TVC.

In the times of Covid2019 pandemic, every day, we hear new stories of their compassion & patriotism and are indebted to them for their sacrifice and commitment. The idea behind this campaign is to show the feelings of real-life patients who want to thank doctors for treating them.”

Created by Lowe Lintas, the video is about thankfulness, gratitude and hope. The fear, anxiety and loneliness that accompany the disease are much bigger than the pain from the illness and the video captures emotions of survivors towards the doctors and health workers who treated and cared for them.

Lowe Lintas president – creative Madhu Noorani  said, “The idea comes very simply from genuine real-life narratives of patients who have been taken care of by doctors in their most difficult times. The film is a touching display of gratitude from these real-life survivors to their doctors who have gone beyond their duty as doctors, playing multiple roles to emotionally support these patients in their most difficult times in the hospital, simply captured in two heartfelt words – Thank you.”
