    IBN7 & Pakistan’s Dunya TV tie-up for show on India-Pak clash at Asia Cup

    NEW DELHI: IBN7 has tied up with Pakistan’s Dunya TV for the first time to bring unique shows that will capture India’s clash with Pakistan in the T20 Asia Cup in its 13th edition.

    The matches are being held in Bangladesh. The show titled Asia Ka King Kaun? will be aired on 26 February at 7.30 pm and on 27 February at 6 pm.

    This is the first clash between India and Pakistan cricket teams since the two teams met in last year’s World Cup match in Australia, which India won comfortably.

    Top cricketers like Kris Srikkanth, Lalchand Rajput and Ashok Malhotra will be on the panel along with IBN7 deputy managing editor Sumit Awasthi and sports editor Vimal Kumar, while Saeed Ajmal and Ahmed Shehzad will be joining Dunya TV anchors from Pakistan.

    The experts will engage in discussing the strengths, the preparations and the chances of both the teams along with their own experiences from past matches.

    MUMBAI: IBN7 is all set to launch a special initiative called Dilli Ko Saans Lene Do (Let Delhibreathe) aiming on the deteriorating air quality in the city.

     

    The campaign will span from 22 December, 2015 to 15 January, 2016.

     

    In the first phase of the campaign, the channel will have discussions about the need and the impact of the measures proposed by the state government to curb the rising pollution levels in the city. In the second phase, the channel will do a reality check at various locations across the capital, evaluating the impact of the steps taken on air pollution and providing a clear picture to its viewers. 

     

    IBN7 managing editor Sumit Awasthi said, “The air pollution levels in Delhi have spiralled to alarming levels – literally choking the citizens of the capital. As a channel we have always believed in pushing the envelope when it comes to issues that directly impact people and it is this commitment that has spurred us to launch this campaign which we will run for close to a month.”

    IBN7’s ‘Operation Yamraj’ revealed counterfeit medicine racket

    MUMBAI: Operation Yamraj, a sting operation conducted by IBN7, unearthed a big racket of manufacturing and selling of fake & counterfeit medicines. The racket is based out of Meerut, not very far from the National Capital Delhi. 

     

    IBN7’s undercover reporter approached the masterminds of the racket posing as a businessman dealing in medicines. They were ready to supply cheap chemicals packaged in the bottles of a reputed company. They were so confident of their fake products that they claimed even the owners of these reputed companies will not be able to find any difference. They primarily target the medicines that are sold over the counter and do not require a medical practitioner’s prescription. Their offerings include medicines from common ailments such as cough, fever and pain to serious diseases of liver & kidney.

     

    The channel aired Operation Yamraj on 1 December 2015 at 9 pm. The Uttar Pradesh administration took cognizance of this immediately and the UP Health Department has ordered an investigation into the matter. Raids are being conducted at various places in Meerut by the UP Police in co-ordination with other concerned departments. S P Yadav, State Minister of Medical & Health, Uttar Pradesh has assured that strict action will be taken against the accused. Many prominent leaders including Rajiv Shukla, K C Tyagi, Jagdambika Pal and Meerut MP Rajeev Agarwal across political parties have lauded IBN7’s efforts and have promised to raise the issue in Parliament. Former UP CM Mayawati has demanded a CBI enquiry into the matter. The story found great traction on social media with the hashtag #IBN7OpYamraj was amongst the top trends in India.

    MUMBAI: Bihar’s political landscape has witnessed a lot of changes over the last one and a half years. And thus, the upcoming assembly elections in the state are sure to grab a lot of eyeballs.

     

    With a number of critical issues to be raised and discussed before people take their call at the elections, not just Bihar but the entire nation will have their eyes trained to observe the developments.

    MUMBAI: News channels CNN-IBN and IBN7 have planned to launch a Media Institute Initiative (MII) that will engage media schools in the country and abroad through a structured and collaborative approach aimed at unleashing the potential of the youth. Initiative aims to deepen the industry – academia engagement in the media space through seminars, internships, guest lectures and other interventions for sectoral capability enhancement.

     

    Speaking on the MII, Network18 president news Umesh Upadhyay said, “We are really happy to launch the Media Institute Initiative that will engage the industry, the youth and the sharpest academic minds on an on-going basis.     MUMBAI: In a bid to differentiate itself in the crowded Hindi news genre, IBN7 of the Network18 group has decided to re-launch itself once again.  

    It was in July 2013, that the channel had revamped itself.  Now on 19 October, it will again undergo change to reposition itself with the new tag line ‘Hausla Hai’, a fresh perspective and a committed team of reporters, new shows and pacier and cleaner graphics.

    Network 18 News president Umesh Upadhyay stated that the re-launch will be a defining milestone for the channel.
    “Our increased focus on news as against just views, clean look and feel, our unmatched footprint and coverage and our focus on strong journalistic values will resonate with the Hindi news viewers. We already have an exceptionally strong team with senior journalists like Sanjeev Paliwal and MK Jha which has become stronger, more vibrant and more credible with the addition of our new team members.”

    With over 2,200 reporters across the country, the channel plans to focus on providing more news as opposed to views and opinions that it says have become the norm on most news channels.

    The changes at the channel are being fronted by established faces of television like Sumit Awasthi, Richa Anirudh and Akash Soni along with Navjyot Kaur, Tejasvi Chandok Nayyar, Payal Bhuyan, Himani Naithani, Pankaj Bhargava, Amrit Anand and the channel’s present team of journalists and reporters.

    As part of the new launch, IBN7 will also be launching several new shows.     MUMBAI: IBN7 has appointed Sumit Awasthi as deputy managing editor. Prior to this, he was resident editor at Zee News.

     

    He will make a comeback on the channel with a special show on ‘100 Days of Modi Government.’ Awasthi has not only covered political news but also cricket and international affairs. Awasthi has worked with IBN7 earlier as well as with Aaj Tak.

     

    Meanwhile, Akash Soni also joins the channel as anchor. He has over 18 years of experience across TV, radio, print and online media including BBC World Service, London. His expertise is across various fields including Indian politics and international affairs.

     

    The channel will enhance its political coverage with the two of them.

    MUMBAI:  Zee Media Corporation Ltd has announced the appointment of Sumit Awasthi as Resident Editor, today.

    Sumit Awasthi, a Science graduate and post-graduate in Journalism from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, has rejoined Zee Media after a gap of 14 years in which he had been with Aaj Tak and IBN7. In his last assignment at Aaj Tak, he was the Deputy Editor (Political) and a Primetime Anchor (Dastak – the flagship primetime show was anchored by him). In addition he also was reporting on major assignments.
