    Network18 enters into an agreement with Carnival Cinemas

    MUMBAI: Multiplex chain Carnival Cinemas after having a great 2014 has set the right tune for the new year. While it was in December 2014 when Reliance MediaWorks (RMW) sold its multiplex business to Carnival Cinemas, 2015 has begun with Network 18 Media & Investments entering into an agreement with the multiplex chain. 

    The agreement has been done through Network 18’s venture capital arm, Capital18 Fincap. Network18 with this will divest its entire stake in Stargaze Entertainment, which operates multiplexes in emerging urban centers of India under the brand name ‘Glitz Cinemas.’ 

    Capital 18 is a majority shareholder at Stargaze and the transaction, expected to be completed within the current financial year, will result in a profitable exit for Capital18.

    It can be noted that the proposed transaction with Reliance MediaWorks had placed Carnival amongst the top three multiplex operators in the country, with over 300 screens nationwide.
    The agreement with Network 18 is yet another move by Carnival Cinemas to reach its target of 1,000 screens by 2017.

    Stargaze Entertainment launches multiplex in Jodhpur

    MUMBAI: Stargaze Entertainment, the film exhibition company operating a chain of multiplexes in emerging cities, has launched a new three-screen property at Jodhpur.

    This is the eighth multiplex under the company‘s brand – Glitz Cinemas. It has 651 seats and is situated at Blue City Mall, Circuit House Road, Jodhpur.

    The property houses Glitz Lounge, which offers the Gold Class experience with flat-bed recliners and personalised service; and Glitz 3D for 3D movie-viewing.

    The tickets are priced between Rs 110 and Rs 130 and Rs 400 for Glitz Lounge.

    Stargaze Entertainment MD Sumant Bhargava said, "This is our second cinema in Rajasthan, the first cinema being at Ajmer. We have received tremendous response from the state so far and hope to build-up the same momentum with Jodhpur cinema launch. At Stargaze, it is our commitment to provide international quality cinema services beyond metros. This is a leap forward towards our vision and we will continue to expand our footprint across the country to reach out to wider audience."

    With the launch of Jodhpur operations, Stargaze Entertainment now operates 22 screens across eight locations in India.
