  • Star World Premiere HD to air finale episode of Better Things

Star World Premiere HD to air finale episode of Better Things

MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD is all geared up to premiere the final season of Better Things. The final episode will premiere on this 17 November at 10 pm.

The series, centered on Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon) – a divorced Hollywood actress who juggles between raising her three daughters and focusing on her professional and personal commitments, captures characters rarely seen on television — single mothers, young girls and middle-aged and elderly women — and depicts them in an authentic, thought-provoking light. Unlike the other moms on television, Adlon’s Sam isn’t just trying to survive. Rather, she is holding on and doing her best and, with the grace that so few of us have, doing it without losing her temper every five or so minutes.

On the season finale titled as Only Women Bleed, Adlon remarked, “I have favorite moments, but this episode is my favorite because it’s more like a portrait. It doesn’t overly explain, but it really exposes you to this family and how they just get through the day. That scene in the morning, when everyone comes in and out of the house — it’s more like a feeling. You’re watching what Sam has to deal with.”

The season finale is promised to be an emotional one as it brings out the beauty in the ordinary chaos of life and holds onto the love in a family that often spews hateful things at one another.

  • ‘Rectify’ final season on Star World Premiere HD

‘Rectify’ final season on Star World Premiere HD

MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD is all geared up to premiere the new and final season 4 of the critically acclaimed show Rectify. The show will air on 9 November at 10 pm.

Created by Oscar winning director, producer, actor and screenwriter, Ray McKinnon, the show answers the eventual question of acceptance and rejection, progression and regression and life and death.

McKinnon said, “I think we live in a world where we tend to put people in boxes. We’re not looking at each other’s humanity enough. And ‘Rectify,’ hopefully, has allowed people to look at a group of small town people in a more complex way than they’re often portrayed. When I go back to my hometown, I’m continually reminded that even though we may think differently on some issues, there’s a common humanity there. That’s what we need to continue to seek out in each other, and hopefully ‘Rectify’ has brought that out in some way.”

The story follows the life of Daniel Holden played by actor Aden Young, a man recently released from death row after serving 19 years for the rape and murder of his high-school girlfriend.

Abigail Spencer from the fame of Cowboys & Aliens, This Means War, Oz the Great and Powerful, J. Smith-Cameron, Adelaide Clemens from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Great Gatsby and Parade’s End fame, Clayne Crawford, who has played crucial role in TV shows like TV shows, CSI, 24 and Law & Order, Bruce McKinnon and Jake Austin Walker play extended members of his family who are finding ways to relate to him after his newly found freedom sends him back to their small Georgia town.

‘Chance’: Star World Premiere HD to telecast Hugh Laurie show

MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD will telecast psychological thriller ‘Chance’. Adapted from Kem Nunn’s noir-ish psychological thriller novel of the same name, it is also produced by Hugh Laurie who stars along with Diane Farr. The show, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, will air on 21 October at 10 pm.

Laurie is all set to make his comeback to prime time television with yet another story about a doctor, with a twist. Slated with entropy and darkness, the psychological thriller follows the story of Dr. Eldon Chance, a San Francisco-based forensic neuro-psychiatrist who reluctantly gets sucked into a violent and dangerous world of mistaken identity, police corruption and mental illness.

Hugh stated, “I honestly don’t see any similarities, maybe because I’ve artificially erected a wall between the two things [in my mind]. Maybe I’m incorrect and it will be a distraction for the audience, but I hope not, because the characters are massively different. Their attitude to life is different; the story that unfolds is infinitely removed from [the world of House].”

Laurie said, “Underneath there’s a story of passion, love, violence, fear joy, and the profound exploration of what it is to be human. That’s in the first 90 seconds.”

He further added, “Generally speaking, the older form of television was about the central characters remaining the same while the surrounding characters changed. We’re doing something rather different here, we’re seeing a genuine transformation where characters are unrecognizable from where they started.”

The show also comprises of Gretchen Mol and Paul Adelstein.
