    TAM week 51: Colors leads; Star Plus & Life OK only gainers

    MUMBAI: Colors continued to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) genre and secured leadership position in week 51 without any changes in the ratings according to TAM Media Research data.

     

    On the other hand, Star Plus and &TV were the only channels that witnessed a rise in ratings.

     

    Colors bagged the first position with 246 GRPs against 246 GRPs in the previous week followed by Star Plus in the second slot in week 51 with 234 GRPs as against 225 GRPs in week 50.

     

    Zee TV stood at number three with 164 GRPs as against 171 GRPs in the previous week.

     

    Sab TV bagged the fourth slot with 144 GRPs followed by Life OK in the fifth slot with 116 GRPs. On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television saw a downfall in ratings and stood in the sixth slot with 102 GRPs against last week’s 135 GRPs.

     

    &TV saw a hike in ratings and stood at the seventh position with 78 GRPs.

    MUMBAI: Free to air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol was perched firmly at the top of the Hindi general entertainment channels (GEC) genre after securing 752782 (Rat 000s) in week 50 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India analysis.

     

    In a major Christmas cheer for Viacom18, its Hindi GEC Colors climbed up to the second slot, toppling Star Plus. While Colors was with 725713 (Rat 000s), Star Plus garnered 707219 (Rat 000s).

     

    Zee TV, placed fourth, witnessed a drop in ratings with 677089 (000Sums) as against 718536 (000 Sum) in week 49.

     

    On the other hand, Star Ustav bagged the fifth place with 506990 (000Sums) followed by Life OK with 438496 (000Sums) in the sixth slot. Sony Entertainment Television came in seventh with 365546 (000Sums).

     

    Sab TV with 328664 (000Sums) stood at number eight, while Rishtey and Sony Pal saw a downfall in ratings as compared to the previous week. Rishtey stood in the ninth spot with 272506 (000Sums) as against 305570 (000Sums) in week 49, whereas Sony Pal held on to the tenth spot with 238738 (000Sums) as against 302045 (000Sums) in the previous week.

    MUMBAI: Colors continued to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) genre and secured leadership position in week 50 according to TAM Media Research data. On the other hand, Star Plus and Life OK were the only channels that fell back from last week’s ratings.

     

    Colors bagged the first position with 246 GRPs followed by Star Plus, which witnessed a drop in ratings but managed to garner second slot with 225 GRPs against 230 GRPs in previous week.

     

    With a marginal rise in ratings, Zee TV stood at number three with 171 GRPs against 141 GRPs in week 49.

     

    Sab TV bagged the fourth slot with 150 GRPs followed by Sony Entertainment Television in the fifth slot with 135 GRPs and Life OK in the sixth slot with 118 GRPs against 123 GRPs in last week.

     

    &TV saw a hike in ratings and stood at the seventh position with 77 GRPs in week 50.

    MUMBAI: Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) leader Star Plus witnessed a downfall in ratings but continued to lead the top 10 list across genres in week 49 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U+R) data excluding Tamil Nadu / Puducherry.

     

    Star Plus garnered first position with 806592 (000Sums) against 854074 (000Sums) in week 48, followed by Colors in the second place with 784923 (000Sums). Zee TV, which was in the fourth place last week, jumped up to the third spot in week 49 with 781916 (000Sums). 

     

    Zee Anmol saw a drop to stand in the fourth spot with 780847 (000Sums).

     

    Star India’s free to air (FTA) channel Star Ustav stood at number five with 571080 (000Sums). Life OK grabbed the sixth position with 490139 (000Sums) followed by Sony Max with 467376 (000Sums) and Sony Entertainment Television with 453407 (000Sums) in the seventh and eighth slots respectively.

     

    ETV Telugu bagged the ninth position with 438849 (000Sums), whereas Zee Cinema with 402569 (000Sums) stood at number ten in the pecking order.

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s (Zeel) free to air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol has toppled Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) market leader Star Plus to become the leader in the genre in week 49 according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 4+ Individuals.

    Since the introduction of rural data by BARC India, FTA channel Zee Anmol has been amongst the top three in the Hindi GEC genre since week 41.

    Zee Anmol secured its leadership position with 779821 (000 Sum), whereas Star Plus was second in the pecking order with 751510 (000 Sum).

    Colors was perched at the third position in the genre with 746799 (000 Sum) followed by Zee TV in the fourth spot with 718536 (000 Sum).

    Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav stood at number five with 568630 (000 Sum).

    Life OK with with 474327 (000 Sum) and Sony Entertainment Television with 429400 (000 Sum) maintained their positions at sixth and seventh slot respectively.

    Sab TV grabbed the eight spot with 356366 (000 Sum) whereas Rishtey, which was in the tenth spot last week, stood at number nine with 305570 (000 Sum). Sony Pal dropped to the tenth position with 302045 (000 Sum).

    ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ culminates on Hotstar after 8 episodes

    MUMBAI: Star Plus’ popular show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, which was renamed as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn on the network’s OTT platform Hotstar, is now reaching its climax after eight episodes. 

     

    The Hotstar original series, which was launched on 24 November,  ended on 15 December.

     

    It may be recalled that on Star Plus, the show went off air almost three years ago.

     

    As reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, the show took the lead characters’ Arnav (Barun Sobti) and Khushi’s (Sanaya Irani) story forward, picking up from where the serial ended on the channel.

    Produced by Entertainment Mafia, the show was brought back on Hotstar with eight 10-minute episodes, showing a day in the life of the protagonists, set three years into their marriage.

     

    A source close to the channel informed this website, “The show has done phenomenally well for Hotstar. It became one of the biggest hit in terms of original content. It had also done well for the channel on social media. On Twitter, the show trended at least four to five times.”

     

    The source added, “The first season of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn is over but going forward, the network may come up with more such seasons. While nothing has been decided as yet, but looking at the response, there might be a second season in the offing soon.”

     

    Speaking about the per episode expenditure on digital, another sources says, “The per episode expenditure is almost similar to television for this show. On Hotstar, there were only eight episodes but on television, big shows see 200-300 episodes being made. However, on digital the cost remains more or less the same.”

     

    Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was among the top rated show on Star Plus in 2011-12 before it went off air in November 2012. The show was also immensely popular among international viewers.

     

    According to the source, the show on also garnered an exceptional response from advertisers.

     

    It now remains to be seen if Star brings a second season of the show on its OTT platform.

    MUMBAI: At the sixth edition of the Big Star Entertainment Awards, Amitabh Bachchan and his co-star Deepika Padukone bagged the top honours for Best Actor of the year (Male) and (Female) respectively for their performance inPiku.

     

    The audience witnessed Varun Dhawan bag the most honors with two awards under different categories for his work in Badlapur.

     

    Salman Khan won the award for Bajrangi Bhaijaan under Big Star Most Entertaining Actor in a Social Role (Male). 

     

    The 92.7 Big FM ‘Hit Thhe Hit Rahenge’ award went to evergreen sensation Anil Kapoor, while Alia Bhatt won the award for Big Star Most Entertaining Dance for her moves in the song ‘Gulabo’ from her recent film Shaandar. 

     

    Laughter sensations Bharti Singh and Manish Paul played host to the awards ceremony.

     

    Bajrangi Bhaijaan child artist Harshali Malhotra received her first ever award for her work in the film.

     
    Salman Khan dazzled the audience with his moves on recent tracks like ‘Aaj Ki Party Meri Taraf Se,’ ‘Selfie Le Le Re,’ ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Prem Leela.’ This was followed by Alia Bhatt, who took the entertainment quotient to another level with her performance on songs like ‘Gulabo,’ ‘Shaam Shandaar’ and others.

     

    Sonam Kapoor was awarded the Big Star Most Entertaining Actor in a Romantic Role (Female) for her performance in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo while Ranveer Singh was awarded Big Star Most Entertaining Actor in a Romantic Role (Male) for his work in Dil Dhadakne Do.

     

    The award for Big Star Entertaining comedy film was won by Anand L Rai for Tanu Weds Manu Returns, while Meghna Gulzar won Big Star Most Entertaining Thriller for Talvar. Sooraj Barjatya won Big Star Most Entertaining Romantic Film for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

     

    Bhumi Pednekar won her first ever award for her work in Dum Laga Ke Haisha under Big Star Most Entertaining Actor in a Social Role (Female), while the Big Star Most Entertaining Social Film went to ABCD 2.

     

    The Big Star Most Entertaining Actor in a Thriller Role (Female) went to Tisca Chopra for Rahasya and Big Star Most Entertaining Action Film went to Gabbar Is Back.

     
    Indian cinema’s new entrants Omkar Kapoor, Akshara Hassan and Sana Kapoor were praised for their debut performances and collected awards in the debut categories, while Palak Mucchal and Armaan Malik bagged an award each as the Big Star Most Entertaining Singer (Female and Male) for ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Tumhe Apna Banane Ka’ respectively.

     

    The Big Star Most Entertaining Music award went to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Big Star Most Entertaining Song went to ‘Chittiyan Kalliyan’ from Roy.

     

    Saina Nehwal bagged the honour for the Big Star Most Entertaining Sportsperson of the Year.

     

    Among television shows Yeh Hai Mohobbatein (Star Plus) and Kum Kum Bhagya (Zee TV) won the highest honours as Big Star Most Entertaining Series TV – Fiction.

     

    Mohammad Nazim and Vishal Singh of Saath Nibhana Saathiya (Star Plus) fame won Big Star Most Entertaining Actor TV – Fiction – Male while Bharti Singh and laughing sensation Krushna Abhishek won Big Star Most Entertaining Jury/ Host (TV)- Non Fiction for the humorous show Comedy Nights Bachao (Colors).

     

    The Big Star Most Entertaining Series TV – Non Fiction also went to laugh-riot show Comedy Classes (Life OK).

    Star Plus to launch 2 new shows; Balaji’s ‘Kuch Toh…’ to go off air

    MUMBAI: Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Star Plus is all set to add a fresh breath of air to its programming with the launch of two new shows namely Silsilla Pyaar Ka and Swadhinta in the new year. These shows will replace two of the channels’ existing shows.

     

    Balaji Telefilms’ show Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan, which was launched on 28 September, will be going off air in January. The show airs at 8:30 pm from Monday to Saturday.

     

    A source close to the development informs Indiantelevision.com, “The show failed to generate sustainable ratings, and therefore it’s going off air. It might be replaced by Silsila Pyaar Ka produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, which is slated to launch in first week of January.”

     

    The promos of the show have already been released. Silsilla Pyaar Ka revolves around a possessive mother, her son and the girl in his life.

     

    On the other hand, the Hindi adaptation of Warner Bros’ Everybody Loves Raymond – Sumit Sambhal Lega is also in its final phase and is slated to go off air in the last week of January. Produced by DJ’s Creative Unit, the show was launched on 31 August and airs at 10 pm from Monday to Saturday.

     

    Another source added, “The show might get replaced by Farhaan Salaruddin headed Fortune Production’s upcoming show Swadhinta. Based on courtroom drama, the show will focus on the bureaucracy in our nation. The show is slated to launch on 1 February.”

     

    Additionally, Star Plus’ Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi hosted by superstar Amitabh Bachchan will soon reach its final phase. Launched on 18 October, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi airs on Sunday at 8 pm. The last episode of the show is slated to air in the second week of January.

    MUMBAI: In week 49, Colors once again moved ahead and emerged as the number one channel in Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) genre, while Star Plus saw a decline in ratings. However, it managed to garner the second slot according to TAM Media Research data.

     

    Colors bagged the first spot with 236 GRPs in week 49. Star Plus witnessed a decline in ratings to settle at the second slot with 230 GRPs as against 251 GRPs in previous week, followed by Sab TV in the third spot with 146 GRPs and Zee TV in the fourth place with 141 GRPs.

     

    Life OK secured fifth position in the genre with 123 GRPs. Sony Entertainment TV with 119 GRPs came in at the sixth place, whereas &TV was at the seventh position in the genre with 71 GRPs.

    MUMBAI: Star Plus continues to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) genre, while Colors replaced Zee Enterprises Entertainment Limited’s (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Chanel Zee Anmol and managed to perch at the second slot in week 48 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U+R) data.

     

    Star Plus maintained its top slot with 796378 (000Sums) followed by Colors on second slot with 763601 (000Sums) and Zee Anmol at number three with 756154 (000Sums). Zee TV bagged the fourth slot with 677344 (000Sums).

     

    With no change in the positions from last week, Star Utsav with 561813 (000Sums), Life OK with 516234 (000Sums) and Sony Entertainment Television with 412016 (000Sums) garnered fifth, sixth and seventh slot respectively. 

     

    Sab TV with 396853 (000Sums), Sony Pal with 366535 (000Sums) and Rishtey with 305368 (000Sums) bagged the eighth, ninth and tenth slots respectively.
