    MUMBAI: The flagship Hindi general entertainment channels of Star India, Viacom18 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises have maintained their place in the top three slots in the genre in week 5 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data in HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals.

     

    While Star Plus retained its numero uno position with an increase in ratings at 724223 (‘000s) in week 5, Colors also witnessed a spike in ratings with 713106 (‘000s) and managed to hold on to its second position. On the other hand, while witnessing a drop in ratings from last week, Zee TV held on to its third position with 684106 (‘000s).

     

    Zee Network’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol too saw a drop in ratings from last week but held on to its position in the fourth spot with 540883 (‘000s).

     

    Life OK climbed up the charts from its place in the eight position last week to perch on the fifth spot with 425211 (‘000s) in week 5, while Star Utsav with 355093 (‘000s) was down one spot to stand in the sixth place with a considerable fall in ratings from last week’s 487280 (‘000s).

     

    Sony Entertainment Television with 338638 (‘000s) and its sister channel Sab with 334730 (‘000s) were in the seventh and eighth position respectively. On the other hand, Sony Pal with 330874 (‘000s) was in the ninth place.

     

    Rishtey with 289121 (‘000s) saw a massive drop in ratings from last week’s 416858 (‘000s) and fell to the tenth spot from its erstwhile seventh position.

    On the other hand, Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus also continued to hold its place in the second spot with 773808 (‘000s) in week 5 as compared to last week’s 763739 (‘000s).

     

    Colors, which had dropped down to the third position in week 4, held its spot with 756373 (‘000s) and also saw an increase in ratings from last week’s 745916 (‘000s).

     

    Witnessing a drop in ratings from last week, both Zee TV with 736837 (‘000s) and its FTA sister channel Zee Anmol with 541811 (‘000s) managed to retain their positions in the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

     

    Climbing up the charts this week was ETV Telugu with 448885 (‘000s), which came up to the sixth position in week 5 as compared to last week’s eighth place.

     

    Rising up to the seventh place this week was Life OK with 440315 (‘000s) from its ninth spot in week 4.

     

    New entrants in the Top 10 channels list across genres in week 5 were movie channels Zee Cinema with 432528 (‘000s) in the eighth spot and Star Gold with 416222 (‘000s) in the ninth place.

     

    Sony Max, which was in the seventh place in week 4 dropped to the bottom of the list at number 10 in week 5 with 390616 (‘000s) and also witnessed considerable drop in ratings from last week’s 468771 (‘000s).

     

    Bowing out from the charts in week 5 were Star Utsav and Sony Pal, which were in the sixth and tenth slot respectively in week 4.

    Channel V gears up to launch two new shows

    MUMBAI: Star India’s youth and music destination Channel V is all geared up to add two new shows to its programming mix from February to March. 

    The channel will launch a new show titled D4- Get Up and Dance and is produced by Edge Storm Ventures LLP. The show will sport a new cast and story-line and will launch on 22 February and will be aired from Monday to Friday in the 7 pm time band.

    The show is a mélange of drama, romance and sheds light on the life of a young girl named Baby, who is a skilled dancer but however keeps her dancing skills a secret as a result of her parents’ disapproval. The lead’s life is turned upside down after she meets her dance idol Mikhail and decides to join his dance troupe leaving everything aside. While her talent continues to shine, romance blooms as Baby falls in love with Mikhail despite knowing the fact that he is emotionally secluded.

    Speaking on the show, Channel V business head Kevin Vaz said, “Channel V has always been at the forefront of delivering content that appeals to the youngsters. We introduced the youth to dance based fiction shows and continue to own that space, our new show D4 – Get Up and Dance will captivate audiences by showcasing energy bursting performances on the back of a romantic story.”

    Sources close to the development inform Indiantelevision.com that the channel is also coming up with a new fiction show titled Ishq Unplugged starring Mohit Gaur and Shruti Prakash, which is produced by Panorama Entertainment. The show is slated to go on air from 7 March in the early prime time band of 7:30 pm. The love story is set on the background of a singing reality show where the two leads fall in love during the contest. It will depict their love story with a singing twist.

    What’s more, while Sony Pal and Sony Max made an entry in the list of top 10 channels across genres this week, Star Gold and Zee Telugu made an exit.

    Even with a decline in ratings, Sun TV continued to rule the list at the pole position with 992291 (‘000s) followed by Star Plus in the second slot with 763739 (‘000s). Colors was pushed down to number three with 745916 (‘000s). 

    Zee TV with 743991 (‘000s) and Zee Anmol with 667604 (‘000s) maintained their position in the fourth and fifth place respectively in week 4.

    Meanwhile, Star Utsav with 491425 (‘000s) jumped up one rung in week 4 to take the sixth place.

    Sony Max made an entry into the list at the seventh position with 468771 (‘000s), whereas ETV Telugu held on to its eighth position with 447786 (‘000s).

    Life OK saw a considerable drop from last week’s sixth position to the ninth place in week 4 with 426773 (‘000s), whereas Sony Pal made its presence felt in the tenth slot with 423516 (‘000s).

    Zee Network’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol bagged the fourth slot in the tally with 665127 (‘000s), whereas Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav with 487280 (‘000s) stood at number five. 

    Sony Pal with 420179 (‘000s) and Rishtey with 416858 (‘000s) garnered the sixth and seventh slots respectively in week 4.

    Life OK bagged the eighth spot with 411480 (‘000s) followed by Sab TV with 341472 (‘000s) in the ninth place and DD National with 339276 (‘000s) in the tenth position.
