‘Robots’ to premiere on Star Movies this Friday night at 9

MUMBAI: This Friday, let the family fun begin!!! Star Movies presents a heart-warming story of an ambitious robot from a small town, which has a gift of inventing things and a hope of moving beyond his quaint surroundings. Tune in to the exclusive premiere of the fun filled animation film “Robots” starring Ewan McGregor, Mel Brooks, Halle Berry, Greg Kinnear, Amanda Bynes, Drew Carey and Robin Williams this Friday, December 22nd at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies.

The pixel-happy production company Blue Sky follows its successful feature Ice Age with more animated antics in Robots. Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a talented inventor who hopes to make his fortune by moving to Robot City and working among the nuts and bolts of the robotics industry. Rodney fantasizes about building robots for his boyhood hero and master inventor Big Weld (Mel Brooks), but when he meets him, Rodney’s dream threatens to turn rusty.

Big Weld reveals that his company is now being run by the evil Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), a merciless moneymaker who wants to rid the world of the antiquated robots that clutter up the streets of Robot City. This leaves Rodney’s aspirations needing a major oil change, and with little chance of finding work, he feels about as useful as a broken spare part.

So he takes to the streets, where he finds some unlikely salvation in a group of robots lead by Fender (Robin Williams). Fender urges Rodney to help save them from the scrap heap, while Ratchet and his company create threatening new policies on robot reconstruction. The ensuing action leads to a breathtaking set of adventures in the futuristic city.

A fun, dizzying delight, ROBOTS benefits from the many voices of Robin Williams, who is the perfect comic foil to Ewan McGregor’s central character. The special effects are masterfully handled, and the rendering of Robot City is a true sight to behold. Robots presents fast-paced animated entertainment at its finest.

So tune in to the exclusive premiere of Robots, this Friday night, December 22nd at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies.

‘Meet The Fockers’ on Star Movies

Don’t miss the exclusive premiere of the Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller starrer
‘Meet the Fockers’ this Friday, June 9th at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies

Mumbai, June 07, 2006: Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller are back for a new session of disastrously funny family bonding in the hilarious sequel to Meet the Parents. Tune-in to the exclusive premiere of the rib-tickling comedy ‘Meet the Fockers’ this Friday, June 9th at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies.

Following the knee-slapping hit MEET THE PARENTS, director Jay Roach once again keeps audiences roaring with laughter as he presents MEET THE FOCKERS. This time, young engaged couple Pam (Teri Polo) and Greg (Ben Stiller) are getting their parents together a few months before the wedding. Greg nervously plans out every detail of the trip, only to be usurped by Pam’s domineering ex-CIA-man father (Robert DeNiro).

Not only has he purchased an RV, insisting they’ll be driving from New York City to the Fockers’ home in Miami, but he’s bringing along his perfect baby grandson. When they finally arrive at the Fockers’ house, Greg’s parents, Bernie and Roz (Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand), turn out to be sex-addicted hippies and not at all what the Byrnes (DeNiro and Blythe Danner) had expected. With one pitfall after the next, the film takes the concept of awkward in-law experiences to new heights, leaving no stone unturned from stories about past sexual experiences to detailed discussion of current ones. Every conversation is totally inappropriate and downright embarrassing, keeping audiences braced for the next disaster. Along the way, all six cast members turn in topnotch performances, with Hoffman, Streisand, and Stiller leading the charge in true Focker spirit.

So, make sure you tune in to this fun film ‘Meet the Fockers’ this Friday, June 9th at 9 p.m. only on Star Movies.

Star Wars is a science fantasy saga and fictional galaxy created by writer / producer / director George Lucas during the 1970’s.

The saga began with the film Star Wars (later retitled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope), which was released on May 25 1977, by 20th Century Fox.

The film became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon – spawning five more feature films, three spin-off films, five television series and an extensive collection of licensed books, comics, video games, action figures, trading cards, card games, and other products – all of which are set within a fictional galaxy far, far away.

The all time US box office has all the six Star Wars blockbusters in its top 25, with each film earning over US$ 500 million worldwide. George Lucas’ franchise has also been a mainstay at the Academy Awards, honored with three special achievement awards and winning seven Oscars.

The Star Wars saga has had a significant impact on modern global pop culture. Science fiction since Star Wars, particularly in film, has often been influenced by and compared to Star Wars. References to the main characters and themes of Star Wars are casually made in Western society with the well-qualified assumption that others will understand the reference.

George Lucas is also famous for using the best possible cameras and technology in his movies. Many say that the visual and virtual effects that take over today’s movies would have never been created if not for Lucas’ revolutionising of the movie industry with Star Wars.
