  • X-Men: Apocalypse is set for 11 June on Star Movies

    MUMBAI: What do you do when you’re up against a God? Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant has awakened and along with the four horsemen he recruits; is determined to destroy the world as we know it. All hope for survival is futile, but the young mutants will have to step up as X-Men in their biggest challenge yet. A battle no true superhero fan can ignore.

    Directed by Bryan Singer, the ninth installment in the X-Men film series and a sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse will premiere on Sunday 11th June, at 1pm & 9pm only on Star Movies.

    X-Men: Apocalypse offers a perfectly cohesive combination of action, drama, science and fantasy to deliver a compelling narrative with some top-notch special effects and prodigious action sequences. It combines the color, wonder and exuberance of a real comic book with gloriously cinematic storytelling that results in an action-packed ninth installment of the X-Men franchise.

    A superhero movie’s strength lies in its capability to win over the audience and this film has managed to become a huge success story in the X-Men franchise leading the box office across most markets globally. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, director Bryan Singer said, “Our movie is all about our characters. I mean, yes, there is that stuff — the big stuff, I guess you’d say – and the audience will get their fair share of that. But ultimately, it’s about the characters.”

    Star India revenue head Amit Chopra to look after distribution

    MUMBAI: Star India had announced change of roles for its distribution head Krishan Kutty to business head English cluster on January 18. This left the distribution head’s post empty.

    A senior official at Star India told www.indiantelevision.com that the network was looking for a permanent replacement, “Currently revenue head Amit Chopra is looking after the distribution business as an add on to his existing portfolio and he will continue to do do until further developments are announced.”

    In 2013 Chopra made his move to Star India from HT Media where he was CEO of its listed arm, Hindustan Media Ventures Limited (HMVL). Chopra joined Star India as head of sales and later in 2015 was the revenue head.

    MUMBAI: On 5 December, Star Movies Select HD will showcase the tale of how Boxtrolls were saved from extermination in the adventure movie The Boxtrolls at 9 pm. 

     

    Additionally, on Sunday, 6 December, Star Movies HD will premiere Dracula Untold at 9 pm and 1 pm.

     

    The Boxtrolls, which is directed by Graham Annable and Anthony Stacchi, is based on a novel Here Be Monsters!by Alan Snow. It narrates the story of Eggs (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), an orphan, who lives with the Boxtrolls — a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who inhabit a cavern beneath the city of Cheesebridge. When villainous Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) hatches a plan to get rid of the pretty harmless beings, Eggs decides to go above ground, where he meets and befriends feisty Winnifred (Elle Fanning). Together, Eggs and Winnifred devise a daring plan to save the Boxtrolls from extermination

     

    Dracula Untold directed by Garu Shore narrates the story of a young lord Vlad Tepes played by Luke Evans and his family who are living a peaceful life ruling over their small kingdom but when a Turk warlord demands from Vlad a thousand country boys and his son to create an army, Vlad seeks a terrible power that will allow him to protect his kingdom and family from the Turks at a terrible cost.

    Dish TV adds Star India’s five HD channels to its bouquet

    MUMBAI: Dish TV Monday said it has added five new HD channels from Star India bouquet comprising Star Plus HD, Star Gold HD, Star World HD, Star Movies HD, and Life OK HD effective 8 April.

    Star bouquet of HD channels will be included and made available in all existing HD packages starting from Rs. 399. With this addition Dish TV now boasts of 25 HD channels and 17 HD services.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dish TV COO Salil Kapoor said, “We are excited to add the most anticipated Star channels bouquet in HD and give our customers a viewing experience that is incredibly lifelike. We recognise that our customers have already been enjoying many of their favorite programmes in HD, and I‘m delighted that we can now broaden their choice with maximum 25 HD channels and 17 HD services.”
