Zee TV delights SNEHA foundation’s women with a Christmas bash

Mumbai: Zee TV, over the past three decades, has been one of India’s leading Hindi general entertainment channels that continues to bring its viewers stories that touch upon subjects close to their hearts and introduce them to characters, they fall in love with! With Christmas around the corner and the spirit of loving, caring and giving in the air, the channel invited women from the SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education & Health Action) foundation on the sets of its two popular shows- ‘Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on 21 and 22 December respectively, for an exclusive meet & greet with the stars and a Christmas celebration!

A festive Zee TV-branded bus picked up women supported by SNEHA foundation from their respective centers. They were invited to meet the stars of ‘Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye,’ Sriti Jha and Arjit Taneja, as well as Abrar Qazi and Rachi Sharma from ‘Kumkum Bhagya,’ alongside the entire cast. The actors turned santas as they came with a large bag of presents and warmly welcomed the special guests. Following introductions, Sriti and Rachi graciously led the ladies on tours of their respective sets, offering glimpses into their daily lives on set. The women were delighted with the experience, and the visit brought immense joy, turning it into a truly merry Christmas for them!

Sriti Jha said, “I am extremely happy that I got this opportunity thanks to Zee TV to celebrate Christmas with the working women of the SNEHA foundation. It was indeed an honor for me to meet them and get to know them. I just loved the smile they had on their face when they came to meet us. Christmas is a festival of spreading smiles and I am grateful for being a part of this.”

Arjit Taneja said, “I felt honored to have met these women from the SNEHA foundation and celebrated Christmas with them. They work very hard every day, and it was just a small initiative from Zee TV and our show’s team to make them feel special on this occasion. It was indeed a surreal experience for me.”

Abrar Qazi said, “Spreading love and cheer is what Christmas is all about. I am really delighted to be a part of the Kutumb and get involved in this celebration. I hope the women from the foundation loved the overall experience of visiting our sets and meeting us.”

Rachi Sharma said, “Christmas is a celebration of joy and enthusiasm, and I’m glad that our little effort of spreading cheer was met with so much love. The women from SNEHA foundation were really sweet and took a lot of interest in our daily lives on the sets. I am grateful to be a part of this celebration.”

SNEHA program officer Kunal Dambale said, “It was a great opportunity and new experience, meeting the television serial actors at Zee TV. They were curious to know about SNEHA and the work being done, so I shared about organisation with them. They appreciated the work done by SNEHA. I would like to thank Zee TV for this experience!

Stay Tuned to Zee TV and keep watching Kumkum Bhagya and Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye, every day at 9 and 10 pm respectively!

  • Zee TV’s Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye – an impossible love story

Zee TV’s Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye – an impossible love story

Mumbai Zee TV, a pioneer in groundbreaking television content, is set to captivate audiences with its latest offering, Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. The show, premiering on 27 November at 10 pm, is an impossible love story, weaving the journey of two contrasting characters – Amruta and Virat, portrayed by the immensely popular heartthrobs – Sriti Jha and Arjit Taneja respectively. It unfolds against the vibrant backdrop of Mumbai, where Amruta, a 29-year-old unmarried Marathi Mulgi and worldly-wise Punjabi Munda find their paths crossing in the most unexpected of ways. While she believes in the power of love and the sanctity of a meaningful life partnership that both sides need to constantly work on, he harbors a skeptical view on marriage after having burnt his fingers. He is anti-marriage, having concluded that most women are gold-diggers. Produced by Mukta Dhond, the show has a layered narrative, replete with twists and turns, making for an entertaining viewing experience.

The show delves into the intricacies of today’s love dynamics. This ideological clash sets the stage for an intriguing narrative encapsulated in the show’s one-liner-  ‘Ek ka pyaar mein yakeen atoot hai, toh dooja mane ishq hi jhoot hai’. With each episode, viewers can expect to be drawn deeper into the lives of Amruta and Virat, witnessing the evolution of their relationship against the canvas of their differentiated family backgrounds and the inevitable challenges that love must overcome.

Zee TV Business head Aparna Bhosle said, “Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye presents an interesting take on modern love and relationship dynamics where our lead protagonists not only hail from diverse sociocultural backgrounds but represent diverse outlooks towards the institution of marriage. And when their contrasting worlds collide, viewers are in for a delightful love story.”

Producer Mukta Dhond said “I am excited about our very first association with Zee TV, that too, with some of the finest actors we have on television at the moment. The story tries to depict the two most predominant outlooks the youth seems to have, today, about love and marriage. While half of them seem to be optimistic about finding a suitable match, there’s an equally large and growing number who have begun to question the institution or even view marriage in an unfavourable light. Writing Amruta and Virat, who represent these diverse schools of thought, has been a joy as they’re so culturally different with opposing mindsets, and still have one thing in common – they can go to any lengths for their families. Viewers will relate with both the characters and hopefully, find this unique love story intriguing!”

For the first time, the audience will get to see besties Sriti Jha and Arjit Taneja cast opposite each other. The show also boasts of an ensemble cast with Kishori Shahane Vij who will play the role of Babita Ahuja (Virat’s mother), an elitist Punjabi mother from South Delhi who is very proud of her social status and Hemangi Kavi as Bhavani Chitnis (Amruta’s mother) who is a true blue, middle-class, Maharashtrian woman for whom her family is everything!

Actress Sriti Jha said “Being a part of Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye is a thrilling experience and Zee TV has been my home for the longest time. Returning to the channel is homecoming and working opposite Arjit, will always be a delightful experience. We are not just co-stars but great friends, and I hope our friendship and chemistry translate onto the screen. I must say that Arjit is an exemplary professional and with our relatable show, we hope to touch the hearts of the audience in a unique and unforgettable way. It’s a journey filled with love, drama, and unexpected twists that will keep everyone hooked.”

Actor Arjit Taneja said, “It feels great to be back on Zee TV with a show as special as Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. The added excitement of being cast opposite my best friend is like a cherry on top. When I heard Sriti has been locked for Amruta’s character, I guess that was it, I immediately said yes too. Amruta’s optimism clashes with Virat’s wariness towards marriage and this paves the way for a rollercoaster of emotions. We can’t wait for audiences to see the show!”

Tune in to Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye starting 27 November, every day at 10 pm, on Zee TV

  • Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ launches on April 15

Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ launches on April 15

MUMBAI: Narrating tales that have captivated audience attention for almost two decades now, the master storyteller Ekta Kapoor is back with a new offering on Zee TV. Her new show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ launches on 15th April  at 9 PM, this time replacing her own immensely successful show ‘Pavitra Rishta’ on the channel. Based loosely on Jane Austen’s classic ‘Sense and Sensibility’, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ is its Indian interpretation, following the life of a Punjabi matriarch Sarla Arora who runs a marriage hall and lives with the hope of seeing her two daughters Pragya and Bulbul who’re poles apart, happily married some day! Known for making shows that are women-centric, the pivotal characters of this new show are a bunch of strong, feisty women, living together in an all-female, matriarchal family.

Sriti Jha plays the character of Pragya, the elder sister, who is practical, hardworking and committed to supporting her family … though she’s barely finished her own studies, she teaches at a college to ensure that her mother Sarla’s (Supriya Shukla) meager earnings from the ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ marriage hall never fall short in making the two ends meet. In the midst of all this pressure on her, she’s forgotten how to unwind or pursue any passions of her own. Mrunal Thakur plays Bulbul, the younger sister who has her head in the clouds. She’s vivacious, smart, stylish and a complete dreamer. It barely occurs to her to snap out her own make-believe, rose-tinted world and be of any real use to her family. She idolizes the ruling heartthrob of the country, Rockstar Abhi. Actor-turned-producer Shabir Ahluwalia, who has shied away from facing the camera since 2012, has been roped in to play Rockstar Abhi with a cult following of his own. Faisal Rashid will be seen as Suresh, the college professor who works closely with Pragya (Sriti Jha). Having led a tough life in the military and lost most of his close ones, he is an embittered soul with much angst and pent-up frustration about life. It remains to be seen how the lives of these two men intertwine with the Arora girls and change their destinies forever!

Talking about introducing a fresh concept on primetime, Zee TV Programming Head – Namit Sharma said, “It takes one epic show to replace another, so you can imagine the faith we have in Kumkum Bhagya, as a property, to replace a show that has been extremely special to Zee for over 4 glorious years. Pavitra Rishta has given Indian television audiences their most sought-after dinner table companions in Manav and Archana – star-crossed lovers that millions of viewers have loved, and idolized. Kumkum Bhagya is another extremely engrossing story from a Punjabi mohalla in Mumbai. It talks of a matriarch and her quest to find ideal grooms for her daughters who’re as different as chalk and cheese. Deriving its core from Sense and Sensibility, Ekta has Indianized it beautifully. It’s a passionate drama of love, a far cry from regular saas-bahu soaps and has an ensemble cast of some very talented actors.”

With ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ slated to air at 9 PM from the date of its launch on Zee TV, ‘Pavitra Rishta’ will now be aired Monday – Friday at 6:30 PM on the channel. Talking about the time shuffle amongst her projects on Zee TV, Ekta says, “While two of my shows (Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar) are already on-air and doing immensely well on Zee TV, it’s a pleasure to extend my partnership with Zee to a third show. ‘Pavitra Rishta’ has had a run of over 4 years now and the journey has been most gratifying for me as a producer. While the audiences who are hooked on to ‘Pavitra Rishta’ will continue to enjoy the show at 6:30 PM, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ will open at 9 PM, drawing maximum eyeballs. Kumkum Bhagya is so contemporary in its treatment that viewers will be able to instantly spot characters out of their own lives in the show. It’s a story of passionate love that anyone with a soul would be able to easily relate to.”

Speaking of his comeback as an actor, Shabir says, “With me producing shows, it was getting very difficult to manage time for acting assignments. But now, I have decided to concentrate on acting. You can’t be away from what you love doing for long. The role appealed to me a great deal. This is the first time that I will be playing a rockstar on television and in order to look my part, I had to ensure that I did not just get my costume and look right, but also get that attitude right that is required to portray a rockstar onscreen.”

Ekta Kapoor’s association with Zee TV dates back to almost two decades ago when the partnership produced one of the greatest successes of satellite television – Hum Paanch. Her soaps, be it Kasamh Se, Pavitra Rishta or Jodha Akbar – the latest historical to rule the roost on Indian television, have been universally appreciated and have enjoyed long, glorious runs on the tube.

Starting 15th April, stay tuned to Kumkum Bhagya at 9 PM every Monday-Friday, only on Zee TV!

  • ‘Pavitra Rishta’ to be replaced by Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’

‘Pavitra Rishta’ to be replaced by Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’

MUMBAI: Two decades ago, Ekta Kapoor started her association with Zee TV with the popular sitcom – Hum Paanch.

And since then there is no looking back. The queen of television especially the primetime slot is back with a new show on the channel.  The new offering will be replacing her own successful and popular show ‘Pavitra Rishta’.

The show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ will once again see Kapoor’s blue-eyed boy Shabbir Ahluwalia who has shied away from facing the camera since 2012, essaying a role of Rockstar with a cult following on the show. The lead actress of the show is played by Sriti Jha who will play the elder amongst the two sisters on the show loosely based on Jane Austen’s classic ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

The Indian interpretation follows the life of a mother who runs a marriage hall and lives with the hope of seeing her two daughters – poles apart in bearing, outlook and disposition, happily married some day. Known for making shows that are women-centric, the pivotal characters of the show are a bunch of strong, feisty women, living together in an all-female, matriarchal family.

On her new show, Kapoor said, “All I can say is that it’s a very passionate story of love …!”

But does this spell ‘The End’ for the former show?  Not really, ‘Pavitra Rishta’ will now be aired Monday to Friday at 6:30 pm on the channel.

Talking about the time shuffle amongst her projects, Kapoor said, “Pavitra Rishta has been on-air for over four years now and the journey has been most gratifying for me as a maker. After ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu thi’ if there is any other show which is close to my heart, then it is ‘Pavitra Rishta’. The characters of Manav, Archana, Arjun, Purvi and now Ankita-Naren have endeared themselves to the audience, so much so that they are an inseparable part of their lives. While the audiences who are hooked on to ‘Pavitra Rishta’ will continue to enjoy the show at 6:30 pm, the new show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ will open at 9 pm, drawing maximum eyeballs.”
