    Ganesh Venkatraman to host SonyLIV’s Crime Patrol in Tamil

Over the last 16 years, this marquee show from the Sony Pictures Networks stable has kept us hooked onto our screens with compelling cases and gritty storytelling. Riding on its colossal popularity of being India’s longest-running reality crime television series, the show now gets a Southern makeover. SonyLIV, the digital streaming platform is set to launch the Tamil version of Crime Patrol and has roped in leading Tamil actor Ganesh Venkatraman as the anchor.

    Ganesh Venkatraman will step into the shoes of Anup Soni who toplined the Hindi version of the crime series for years. With films across six regional industries, Ganesh is one of India’s finest film and TV actor and was also a finalist in "Bigg Boss Tamil 1". Some of the films he starred in were Radha Mohan's Abhiyum Naanum (2008), Unnaipol Oruvan (2009) and Kandahar (2010) besides a number of ad films across different Indian languages.

    Confirming the news, Ganesh Venkatraman said, “Creating awareness about crimes is a serious job and I am happy to team up with a very passionate team of technicians for the same. I truly believe Crime Patrol is not just a format breaking series but a path-breaking one for the Tamil audiences. My grandfather was a Police officer and my father is a lawyer, so naturally law & order runs in my blood. My tough cop roles in my movies have been always appreciated by Tamil audiences. I am super excited to don a new avatar piecing together these crimes for our audiences. My best wishes to SonyLIV for a successful launch in Tamil and shooting for the series is turning out to be a fantastic experience.”

    Crime Patrol Tamil will go live this August only on SonyLIV.

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN), the official broadcaster of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, kick-starts its initiatives for the upcoming prestigious multi-sporting event starting with its on-air campaign, ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’. SPSN marks the one-year countdown to one of the world’s greatest sports event with the telecast of a series of Olympic Channel shows, which includes India-centric content to further familiarize the audiences with Indian athletes and Olympic sport disciplines.

    ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ is a call that invokes a strong sense of national pride for our athletes and rallies the nation to unite in a state of support for our athletes for Tokyo 2020. The inspiring campaign also aims to motivate the athletes to put their strongest foot forward for the biggest sporting event in the world and make the nation proud through the journey to win medals. The film showcases aspiring athletes in training, inspired by their real-life heroes and past Olympians. The track is a stylized version of the anthem, ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’.     With less than 365 days to go for Tokyo 2020, a specially customised programming line-up of Olympic Channel content will also be aired on SONY TEN 1 channels every Friday at 8:00 PM. The content will include India-specific series, which will be aired under “Hum Honge Kamyab!” and non-India content under “The Olympic Dream”.  Under the “Hum Honge Kamyab!” series, the sports network will air “Land of Legends” that highlights the stories of India’s medal winning hockey teams followed by other episodes “Can’t Stay Down” about India’s wrestling akharas, “Foul Play: Dutee” featuring the story of Dutee Chand’s trials with gender testing policies and “Shakti: India’s Super Women” featuring Indian female athletes Dipa Karmakar, Deepika Kumari, Sakshi Malik and Sandhya Shetty who have overcome unmatched obstacles to achieve their sporting dreams. “The Olympic Dream” programming includes episodic series like “Unforgettable Olympic Moments”, “The Olympics on the Record”, Olympic documentaries from Five Rings Films and much more.

    MUMBAI: In its efforts to make payment getaways more convenient for consumers, SonyLIV, India’s first premium video on demand (VOD) platform, has partnered with Amazon Pay, adding another secure payment option on its platform. While the service is already available for the subscribers, the cashback gratifications will start in less than 2 weeks. To access this payment mode, users will have to select Amazon Pay as their mode of payment on SonyLIV’s payment page and as part of the collaboration, users will get an instant cashback of 30% (up to Rs. 150/-) over a period of 90 days.

    Amazon Pay will be extended across the country to SonyLIV subscribers and allow them to enjoy an uninterrupted online viewing experience and discover good quality content, through an easy and hassle-free mode of payment.

    MUMBAI: SonyLIV, India’s first premium video on demand platform (VOD) crossed the 100 MN app download on Play store. Launched in 2013, SonyLIV has been a pioneer in India’s digital ecosystem catering to a plethora of digital viewers with content across languages like English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati.

    With a 3X increase in monthly active users in 2019, SonyLIV records around 100 downloads per minute with a rise of 7X in total time spent on the platform. In May, the platform extended its services in Tamil and Telugu launching over 4000 hours of content across both languages. SonyLIV also announced its new Hindi original Gullak last month adding up to its extensive repertoire of over 150 titles.

    Mumbai: As a part of its ‘Hawa Badlo’ initiative, GAIL (India) Limited launches the much awaited web series “Hawa Badle Hassu”. The one of its kind campaign keeps growing with each leg and this time around the company has embarked upon a unique and ambitious approach of a full season of a web series. The series is heavily hinged on entertainment conspicuously conveying the messages that company stands for- crusade against air pollution and environment conservation.

    Hawa Badle Hassu is an Environmental Sci-Fi thriller web series with a total of forty minute run time broken into 4 episodes. Each episode tackles crucial spaces and aspects pertaining to Environment (pollution). The first episode focuses on ‘Home Environment’ and as the story progresses it moves to cover topics like ‘Education and career building options around environment’, ‘Outdoor Environment’ and finally escalates to ‘Global Environment’. Actors from mainstream Hindi cinema have been cast for all key roles with Chandan Roy Sanyal essaying the lead and titular role of “Hassu”. Sanyal is joined by Smita Tambe, Vikram Kochar and Hollywood actor Zachary Coffin in meaty roles.

Hawa Badle Hassu is directed by duo- Shaptaraj- Shiva and it is launched on leading OTT platform SonyLiv. The series comes close on the heels of World Environment day.
