    Star Utsav leads Hindi GEC (U+R) in BARC week 31

    MUMBAI: Star Utsav emerged as the leader by dethroning Colors in Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data for week 31 of 2018 in the Hindi GEC (U+R) market. Star Bharat and Rishtey swapped their fourth and fifth positions in the rural market while Star Plus pushed Colors to the second position and emerged as the leader as compared to the previous week in the urban segment.

    Hindi GEC (U+R)

    Star Utsav emerged as the leader by dethroning Colors with 672028 impressions (000s) sum. Zee TV stood at second position with 662938 impressions (000s) sum. Zee Anmol climbed to the third position from ninth position as compared to the previous year with 652641 impressions (000s) sum.

    Star Bharat, Star Plus, Colors, Sony Pal, Rishtey, Sony Entertainment Television and Sony Sab stood at fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 638043 impressions (000s) sum, 629941 impressions (000s) sum, 602352 impressions (000s) sum, 582609 impressions (000s) sum, 526501 impressions (000s) sum, 498865 impressions (000s) sum and 456529 impressions (000s) sum respectively. 

    Hindi Rural GEC

    Zee Anmol, Star Utsav and Sony Pal retained their first, second and third positions respectively with 512949 impressions (000s) sum, 476194 impressions (000s) sum, and 404831 impressions (000s) sum. Star Bharat and Rishtey swapped their fourth and fifth positions with 388943 impressions (000s) sum and 322204 impressions (000s) sum respectively.

    Dangal TV, Zee TV, Big Magic, Colors and Star Plus retained their sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 307573 impressions (000s) sum, 261511 impressions (000s) sum, 198768 impressions (000s) sum, 184927 impressions (000s) sum and 179438 impressions (000s) sum respectively. 

    Hindi Urban GEC

    In urban GEC, Star Plus pushed Colors to the second position and emerged as the leader in 450504 impressions (000s) sum. Colors stood at second position with 417425 impressions (000s) sum.

    Zee TV, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Sab, Star Bharat, Star Utsav, Sony Pal and Zee Anmol retained their third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth positions with 401427 impressions (000s) sum, 365339 impressions (000s) sum, 345253 impressions (000s) sum, 315840 impressions (000s) sum, 195834 impressions (000s) sum, 177778 impressions (000s) sum and 139693 impressions (000s) sum respectively.

    Rishtey emerged as the new entrant by dethroning &TV from the tenth position with 137558 impressions (000s) sum.

    MUMBAI: Zee Anmol retained its leadership position in Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data for week 28 of 2018 in the Hindi GEC (U+R) market. Dangal TV and Zee TV swapped their sixth and seventh positions in the rural market while all the top 10 channels retained their positions as compared to the previous week in the urban segment.

    Hindi GEC (U+R)

    Zee Anmol and Zee TV retained their first and second positions with 651719 impressions (000s) sum and 577951 impressions (000s) sum respectively. Sony Pal jumped to the third position from fifth position as compared to the previous week with 551727 impressions (000s) sum.

    Star Bharat, Colors, Star Utsav and Star Plus stood at fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively with 541652 impressions (000s) sum, 538323 impressions (000s) sum, 504288 impressions (000s) sum and 493095 impressions (000s) sum.    

    Rishtey, Sony Sab and Sony Entertainment Television retained their eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 429347 impressions (000s) sum, 410532 impressions (000s) sum and 407029 impressions (000s) sum respectively.

    Hindi Rural GEC

    Zee Anmol, Sony Pal, Star Utsav, Rishtey, Star Bharat retained their first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 503347 impressions (000s) sum, 377659 impressions (000s) sum, 346199 impressions (000s) sum, 306527 impressions (000s) sum and 285042 impressions (000s) sum respectively.   

    Dangal TV and Zee TV swapped their sixth and seventh positions respectively with 244443 impressions (000s) sum and 232042 impressions (000s) sum respectively.

    Big Magic, Colors and Star Plus retained their respective eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 167892 impressions (000s) sum, 163481 impressions (000s) sum and 147830 impressions (000s) sum.

    Hindi Urban GEC

    In urban GEC, no changes were observed. Colors, Zee TV, Star Plus, Sony Sab, Sony Entertainment Television, Star Bharat, Sony Pal, Star Utsav, Zee Anmol and Rishtey retained their first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 374843 impressions (000s) sum, 345909 impressions (000s) sum, 345266 impressions (000s) sum, 300846 impressions (000s) sum, 298959 impressions (000s) sum, 2566

    MUMBAI: Zee Anmol continued to dominate the Hindi GEC (U+R) and rural market whereas this week Colors has topped the charts of Hindi GEC urban market and garnered the first position, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data.

    DD National is the new entrant in rural market as Sony Entertainment exits.

    Hindi GEC

    Zee Anmol continued to lead the genre with 680454 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Bharat in the second position with 658655 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV in third place with 651461 Impressions (000s).

    Sony Pal stood at number four with 590647 Impressions (000s) and Colors at five with 585745 Impressions (000s).

    Sony Entertainment Television, Star Plus and Rishtey grabbed sixth, seventh and eighth slots with 486356 Impressions (000s), 478712 Impressions (000s) and 428369 Impressions (000s) respectively. Sab TV and Star Utsav bagged ninth and tenth spots with 404768 Impressions (000s) and 340404 Impressions (000s) respectively.

    Hindi GEC rural

    Zee Anmol, Sony Pal and Star Bharat are at first, second and third slots respectively with 536136 Impressions (000s) sum, 411736 Impressions (000s) sum and 359652 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Rishtey, Zee TV and Star Utsav are at fourth, fifth and sixth positions with 316529 Impressions (000s), 273574 Impressions (000s) and 260020 Impressions (000s) sum respectively.

    DD National, Big Magic, Colors and Star Plus are at seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 224594 Impressions (000s), 181926 Impressions (000s), 175388 Impressions (000s) and 154283 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Hindi GEC urban

    This week, Colors has bagged leadership position with 410356 Impressions (000s) followed by Zee TV on second with 377886 Impressions (000s) and Sony Entertainment Television with 354255 Impressions (000s) stood at number three. Star Plus bagged the fourth spot with 324428 Impressions (000s).

    Sab TV, Star Bharat and Sony Pal stood at fifth, sixth and seventh with 301854 Impressions (000s), 299002 Impressions (000s) and 178911 Impressions (000s).

    &TV, Zee Anmol and Rishtey garnered eighth, ninth and tenth slots with 152958 Impressions (000s), 144317 Impressions (000s) and 111840 Impressions (000s) respectively.

    MUMBAI: Zee TV has vaulted from the third position to the numero uno position and the leader Star Plus slipped a slot whereas Sony Entertainment slipped two slots to the fourth position in the GEC Urban market. DD National appeared at the tenth position in two markets and surprised at the seventh slot in the rural market, according to BARC week 38.

    GEC (U+R)

    Zee Anmol, Zee TV and Star Bharat retained the first, second and third positions with respective 700182, 671377, 582902 Impressions (000s) sum.

    On the fourth, fifth and sixth positions are — Colors, Star Plus and Sony Pal with 563342, 551710, 524409 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

    SET, Rishtey, Sony Sab, DD National appeared at the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions, respectively, with 513853, 402694, 363462, 310627 Impressions (000s) sum.

    GEC (Rural)

    Zee Anmol, Sony Pal and Star Bharat respectively retained the first, second and the third positions with 542022, 365125 and 321608 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Rishtey, Zee TV, Star Utsav retained the fourth, fifth and sixth positions with 297623, 269288 and 204474 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

    On the seventh position, DD National replaced Star Plus garnering 198410 Impressions (000s) sum. 

    Colors, Star Plus and Big Magic bagged the last three positions respectively with 180950, 164459 and 149212 Impressions (000s) sum.

    GEC (Urban)

    Zee TV, Star Plus, Colors and SET bagged the first, second, third and fourth positions with 402089, 387250, 382392 and 377352 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Sony Sab and Star Bharat retained their respective fifth and sixth positions with better ratings of 264544 and 261294 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Sony Pal, Zee Anmol, &TV and DD National pocketed the last four respective positions with 159284, 158159, 155999 and 112217 Impressions (000s) sum.

    BENGALURU: Over the past few weeks, either Zee TV or its free to air (FTA) network peer channel Zee Anmol have been topping the Hindi GEC’s in the top 10 channels Across Genre : All India (U+R) : 2+ Individuals weekly lists. Both the channels are from the Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) stable. In Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) list for week 34 of 2017 (Saturday, 19 August 2017 to Friday, 25 August 2017), the pole position continued to be held by the Sun TV Network’s Tamil flagship GEC Sun TV with 1,057.511 million weekly impressions.

    Following behind with 817.317 million weekly impressions was Zee Anmol at second place among BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genres. Zee TV was placed third with 661.541 million weekly impressions.

    Zee TV was followed by Network 18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors with 649.852 million weekly impressions at fourth place. Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus was at fifth place with 648.518 million impressions followed by its network peer and flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa at sixth place with 568.169 million weekly impressions.

    Network 18’s FTA Hindi GEC Rishtey with 524.829 million weekly impressions was seventh with the Sun TV’s flagship Telugu GEC climbing up one place as compared to last week at eighth place with 523.591 million weekly impressions. Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) women oriented Hindi GEC Sony Pal was at ninth place with 511.107 million impressions while Zeel’s flagship Telugu GEC Zee Telugu completed the list of top 10 channels with 502.844 million impressions.

    In brief, three channels from the Zeel network, two channels each from the Sun TV Network, Star India and Network 18 stables and one channel from SPN made up the top 10 channels across genre list for week 34. All the ten channels were general entertainment channels or GECs’. From the language perspective, six Hindi GECs’, three Telugu GECs’ and one Tamil GEC made up the top 10 channels across genre list for week 34 of 2017.

    Four properties in the Hindi GEC (Urban+Rural), two properties each in the Hindi GEC (Urban) and Hindi GEC (Rural) spaces have helped Zee TV and Zee Anmol retain places in the top 10 channels lists of these markets for week 34 of 2017.

    For Hindi GEC (U+R), Zee Anmol topped the top 10 channels lists with Zee TV at third place. Four programmes – three on Zee TV – Kumkum Bhagya and its spinoff Kumkum Kundali and Sa re ga ma pa little champs and one on Zee Anmol – Jamai Raja were among the top 5 programmes list for week 34 in Hindi GEC (U+R) market.

    Though Zee TV was placed third and Zee Anmol seventh in the top Hindi GEC (U) channels lists, Amul Sa re ga ma pa little champs and Kumkum Bhagya were in the top five programs list for week 34. For the Hindi GEC (R) market, Zee Anmol was placed first and Zee TV fifth in the top 10 channels lists for week 34. Jamai Raja and Kaala Teeka on Zee Anmol were among the top five programmes in the Hindi GEC (R) lists during week 34 of 2017.

    MUMBAI: Zee Anmol has retained its leadership position in two markets — Hindi rural and Hindi (U+R) in week 34 whereas Colors continued to lead the urban market, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC)’s all-India data.

    Hindi GEC – U+R

    Zee Anmol continued to be the leader in Hindi GEC (U+R) market with an increase in ratings with 815471 Impressions (000s) sum against 671478 (000s) in previous week.

    Colors climbed to number two position with 618223 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Zee TV on the third with 617260 Impressions (000s) sum. Star Plus stood at number four with 598506 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Rishtey grabbed the fifth spot with 520553 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Sony Pal on the number six position with 507753 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Sab TV, Sony Entertainment Television and Star Utsav bagged seventh, eighth and ninth positions respectively with 390017 (000s), 383176 Impressions (000s) and 331097 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Life OK stood on number 10 with 328571 Impressions (000s).

    Hindi GEC – Rural

    Zee Anmol grabbed the first position with 644496 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Rishtey on the second with 389772 Impressions (000s) sum and Sony Pal with 356952 Impressions (000s) sum on the third spot.

    Star Utsav bagged the fourth place with 255900 Impressions (000s) sum and Zee TV the fifth with 246870 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Colors, Star Plus, Big Magic and DD National grabbed the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth spots with 204350 Impressions (000s) sum, 187255 Impressions (000s), 176799 Impressions and 138549 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

    Sab TV stood at the tenth position with 119131 Impressions (000s).

    Hindi GEC – Urban

    Colors retained its top position with 413873 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Star Plus on two with 411251 Impressions (000s) sum and Zee TV on third with 370390 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Sony Entertainment Television stood at number four with 277671 Impressions (000s) sum followed by Sab TV on number five with 270886 Impressions (000s) sum.

    Life Ok and Zee Anmol stood on number six and seven with 213162 Impressions (000s) sum and 170975 Impressions (000s) sum, respectively.

    &TV, Sony Pal and Rishtey grabbed the eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively with 166519 Impressions (000s) sum, 150801 Impressions (000s) and 130780 Impressions (000s) sum.

  • Zeel channels continue to lead, Star Vijay makes maiden entry

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV, last week, led Hindi GECs’ in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) list of top 10 channels across genre list.  

    Zee TV was the second most watched channel across genre following the Sun TV Network’s Tamil flagship GEC Sun TV and followed one rank behind by its sister FTA Hindi GEC channel Zee Anmol at third rank in week 30. This week – week 31 – Saturday, 29 July 2017 to Friday, 4 August 2017, it is Zee Anmol that stands second in BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genre list, following Sun TV and followed by Zee TV.

    Star India’s Tamil flagship GEC made its maiden entry in 2017 in the top ten channels across genre list. It is also for the first time in 2017 that two Tamil channels have made it to the top 10 across genre list

    Three Star India channels, and two channels each from the Zeel, Network 18 (Viacom 18) Network, and Sony Pictures Network (SPN) and one channel from the Sun TV Network made it to BARC’s top 10 channels across genre list in week 31 of 2017. Putting it from the markets point of view – Two Tamil channels, one Hindi movie and Telugu channel each and six Hindi GEC channels formed the list.

    Sun TV once again took its fixed pole position with 989.801 million weekly impressions followed by Zee Anmol with 713.472 million weekly impressions at second spot. Zee TV was at third rank with 696.319 million weekly impressions followed by Network 18’s Hindi flagship GEC with 665.958 million weekly impressions.   Star India’s Hindi flagship GEC Star Plus was at fifth rank in week 31 with 650.130 million weekly impressions. Last week, Star Plus was fourth and Colors fifth.

    Network 18’s FTA Hindi GEC Rishtey came in sixth with 572.328 million weekly impressions followed by Star India’s Telugu flagship GEC Star Maa at seventh with 569.216 million weekly impressions. SPN’s women show centric channel Sony Pal was eighth with 552.221 million impressions followed by its sister Hindi Movies channel Sony Max with 509.365 million impressions. Star Vijay at tenth place with 502.284 million impressions completed the list.

    Zee Anmol and Zee TV have also topped BARC’s Hindi GEC (U+R) list with three of its shows – one reality show and two family dramas (Kumkum Bhagya and its spinoff Kumkum Kundali) among the top five programmes in the Hindi GEC genre. Further, Zee Anmol also topped the ratings in the Hindi GEC (Rural) market and two of its shows were ranked second and third in BARC’s list of top five programmes. Zee TV was ranked four in the Hindi GEC (Rural) genre. However, the two channels were ranked third (Zee TV) and ninth (Zee Anmol) in BARC’s list of top 10 channels in Hindi GEC (Urban) market. Zee TV’s reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs topped the top five programmes in the Hindi GEC (Urban) market list.

  • GEC: Star Plus regains lead, Sony Pal slips in two segments

    MUMBAI: Star Plus has regained its top position in Hindi GEC (U+R) this week. Last week’s leader Sony Pal fell to the third position in two segments (U+R and rural), according to BARC India week 25 ratings data. 

    Zee Anmol has remarkably jumped two slots each to the numero uno (rural) and second (U+R) positions respectively with approximately 10 per cent jump in ratings each whereas Star Plus has retained its top position in the GEC Urban. Colors too made a good leap from the seventh to the fifth position this week.

    Among the programmes on GEC channels, India-Pakistan ICC Champions trophy match on DD National    lead the list with 22525 Impressions (000s) Sum. Kumkum Bhagya and Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs both on Zee TV pocketed the second and third positions, respectively, with 9764 and 9523 22525 Impressions (000s) Sum.

    Hindi GEC (U+R)

    Star Plus, Zee Anmol and Sony Pal have bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively, with 593712, 580287 and 560468 Impressions (000s) Sum.

    Rishtey, Colors and Zee TV pocketed the fourth, fifth and sixth position with 546014, 496646 and 479152 Impressions (000s) Sum.

    Sony Sab, albeit with a ratings jump of 6000 Impressions (000s) Sum, slipped a slot bagging the seventh position with total of 445866 Impressions (000s) Sum. DD National, Sony Entertainment and Life OK retained their last three slots in chronological order with 417285, 379146 and 346293 Impressions (000s) Sum, respectively.

    Hindi GEC – Rural

    Zee Anmol, Rishtey and Sony Pal came at the first, second and third positions respectively with 460492, 416163 and 405741 Impressions (000s) Sum, respectively.

    DD National, Star Utsav and Star Plus retained their last week’s respective positions with 243874, 222847 and 193456 Impressions (000s) Sum, respectively, with a minor fall in ratings as compared to BARC week 24.

    Zee TV, Big Magic, Colors and Sony Sab, respectively, bagged the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 191432, 181942, 163880 and 136198 Impressions (000s) Sum.

    Hindi GEC – Urban

    Star Plus retained its first position with 400256 Impressions (000s) Sum followed by Colors with 332766 Impressions (000s) Sum at the second position which pushed Sony Sab with 309667 Impressions (000s) Sum to the third slot.

    Zee TV, Sony Entertainment and Life OK pocketed the fourth, fifth and sixth positions with 287719, 274566 and 221025 Impressions (000s) Sum, respectively.

    DD National, Sony Pal, Rishtey and &TV bagged the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions with 173410, 154727, 129851, 128264 Impressions (000s) Sum, respectively.

  • Return of Rebel 2 & PK return Sony Max to top 10 prog list across genre

    BENGALURU: The airing of The Return of Rebel 2 across Hindi Movies (Urban+Rural), Hindi Movies (Urban) and Hindi Movies (Rural) and PK along with Son of Satyamurthy in the Hindi Movies (Urban+Rual) and Hindi Movies (Urban) markets saw Son Max re-enter the Top 10 channels across genre All India (U+R): 2+ Individuals list for week 24 –(Saturday, 10 June 2017 to Friday, 16 June 2017). After the tenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 10) which commenced in week 14 of 2017, this Sony Pictures Network channel had had a small hiatus from BARC’s lists across genre for one week – week 23. Sony Max was placed at ninth rank in the list with 460.016 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2017.

    The Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) list of top 10 channels for week 24 has seen some shakeups and exits vis-à-vis the previous week (week 23).Since the past few weeks two Balaji Telefilm’s soaps on competing channels have given each other a tough fight in the ratings battle on Hindi GEC. For a few weeks the infinite length family drama Kumkum Bhagya on Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV  had taken the ratings lead backed by strong viewership in the Hindi GEC (Urban+Rural) and the Hindi GEC (Urban) markets. However, as Balaji Telefilm’s second season of the finite length supernatural series Naagin 2 on Viacom 18’s Hindi flagship channel Colors approaches its closure, it has retaken the lead in the ratings tables in these markets over the past few weeks.

    Cricket, of course has always been close to the heart of all Indians, and hence the presence of Star Sports 1 Hindi and DD National that broadcast the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in which India was one of the finalists, though a losing one.

    While the top five channels from the Week 23 list have retained their rank and order,albeit with altered ratings in week 24, Zee Anmolclimbed up one rank to the sixth place while pushing its older peer channel Zee TV down to seventh place in week 24 from its previous week’s sixth rank. The Sun TV Network’s Telugu flagship channel Gemini TV maintained its eighth position of week 23 in week 24 while Sony Max and Colors (which also re-entered the list) pushed out DD National and Star Sports 1 from the top 10 channels list.

    MUMBAI: Sony Pal emerged as the number one channel in GEC (U+R) space pushing Star Plus to the number two position in week 24 of BARC’s all-India data. In the rural market too, Sony Pal led the segment. In the urban market, however, Star Plus retained its leadership and Sab TV jumped two slots to emerge at the second slot.

    Programmes-wise, however, DD National led in the top two positions owing to telecast of ICC Champions trophy matches, and Zee TV’s Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs emerged on the third position.

    Hindi GEC (U+R)

    Sony Pal bagged the first spot with  590797 Impressions (000s) followed by Star Plus on the second slot with 584337 Impressions (000s) and Rishtey on third number with 573860 Impressions (000s).

    Zee Anmol bagged the fourth spot with 531190 Impressions (000s) whereas Zee TV stood at the fifth spot with 469297 Impressions (000s).

    Sab TV climbed two slots to number sixth position with 439300 Impressions (000s). Colors however maintained its seventh position with 433443 Impressions (000s) followed by DD National on the eighth with 424973 Impressions (000s) and Sony Entertainment Television with 362259 Impressions (000s) stood at ninth spot. Life OK came tenth with 321383 Impressions (000s).

    Hindi GEC Rural

    Sony Pal retained its the numero uno slot with 431225 Impressions (000s) with improved ratings this week as compared to 402620  Impressions (000s)  in week 23.

    Rishtey and Zee Anmol respectively stood at second and third positions with 428756 Impressions (000s) and 410953 Impressions (000s). DD National retained its fourth position with 259909 Impressions (000s) sum.
