    Sony Music and Eros International tie up with Raanjhanna

    MUMBAI: Eros International Media Limited has once again collaborated with Sony Music, to present the music Raanjhanaa. It is a romantic story starring Sonam Kapoor and south Indian actor Dhanush (of Kolavari Di fame) that will highlight the essence of love and simplicity.

    Sony Music will distribute and promote the music of the movie across all physical and digital platforms. The Hindi and Tamil original sound track of Raanjhanaa will be distributed under the co-branding of Sony Music and Eros Music labels.

    Set in the streets of Delhi and Varanasi, Raanjhanaa‘s music is composed by Oscar Winner A R Rahman.

    Sony Music Entertainment India MD Sanujeet Bhujabal said, "We are delighted to be associated with Eros International for its second release of this year. The trailer of Raanjhana was released recently and has already accumulated a huge response. We are extremely confident that AR Rahman‘s music will connect hugely with the music fans at all levels."

    Eros International Media president business development Kumar Ahuja added, "We are very happy to align with Sony Music and follow up the success of Go Goa Gone with Raanjhanaa. Raanjhanaa has a magical score by A R Rahman which will definitely strike a chord with listeners and we are looking forward to the response to the album".

    Goa Goa Gone‘s music is already out across all platforms while Raanjhanaa‘s music will be available in the coming weeks.

    Eros and Sony music announce a strategic alliance

    MUMBAI: Indian production and distribution company Eros International Media Ltd has announced its strategic tie-up with global recorded music company Sony music Entertainment for the music launch of its upcoming film Go Goa Gone.

    Eros said in a press statement that the music of Go Goa Gone will be distributed under the co-branding of Sony Music and Eros Music labels.

    Eros International managing director Sunil Lulla said, "We are happy to partner Sony Music, an established player in the music domain for the sound track of Go Goa Gone, which is very upbeat, aptly suited to the film‘s genre. By joining hands together, we hope to optimally exploit this highly anticipated title."

    Talking about the tie up, Sony Music Entertainment president India and Middle East Shridhar Subramaniam said, "We are delighted to work with Eros Entertainment and we are confident this is a beginning of a new and long standing relationship. The music of Go Goa Gone is cutting edge and we are already getting great response across radio, TV and from music enthusiasts".

    Go Goa Gone stars Saif Ali Khan and will hit the theaters on the coming 10 May.

    MUMBAI: Prime Focus said it will showcase some of its newest Cloud technologies, made in India for the world, at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2013.

    At the annual industry event, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in April this year, Prime Focus Technologies (PFT), the technology arm of Prime Focus, will highlight how the organisation is bringing the best of its Clear Hybrid Cloud technology platform and Digital Content Services to address a new enterprise digitisation opportunity – multi-platform content production (TV, feature film and digital media).

    Created at the company’s R&D centre in Bangalore, PFT’s new solution aims to bring the production process on to a single digital platform, transforming the very manner in which producers interact with their content, partners and vendors.

    “As the technology evolves and businesses transition to the ‘new normal’, PFT continues to invest heavily in its R&D to provide solutions to its customers that put them ahead of the technology evolution curve,” says Prime Focus Technologies Founder, President and CEO Ramki Sankaranarayanan.

    He further adds “Currently, Clear is managing more than 250,000 hours of content for the broadcast industry. Our 200+ R&D employees have now brought alive the latest innovation from the PFT stable –a fully integrated content, workflow and project management solution that addresses the customer’s production process, enabled by our Hybrid Cloud technology platform. It will allow content producers to leverage digital technologies, and gain control over the production process, thereby leading to a considerable reduction in cost, and greater efficiencies.”

    India is the hub for Prime Focus’ innovation and product development. Set up in 2008, the company’s R&D centre develops the Clear Hybrid Cloud enabled enterprise digitisation platform. PFT’s focus areas include multi-platform content operations, enterprise digitisation, mobility, contextual advertising, cloud editing and content analytics.

    PFT aspires to be the unified content hub for media firms leveraging its global technology infrastructure. Since its launch major functionalities and features like cloud editing, iPad access, HTML5 player, and B2B sales and fulfillment portal have been added to the current solution at the same time developing new solutions ground-up for clients.     Star India appoints Vijay Singh as president, strategy & corporate development

    MUMBAI: Following the exit of its corporate CEO Peter Mukerjea as of 1 February, and the pending departure of its operational CEO Sameer Nair next month, Star has made the first executive announcement regarding the leadership team that will lead it in the next phase of the network’s evolution.

    Star India announced today the appointment of Vijay Singh, former CEO of Sony Music and currently Tata group company Tetley Tea’s managing director – developing markets, as president, strategy and corporate development. Singh will report to Star Group CEO Paul Aiello, who is currently holding additional charge as Star India chief executive.

    In what the broadcast major terms a newly created role, Singh will be responsible for developing business directions for Star India while taking an active role in the company’s venture businesses in India. He will oversee corporate functions including strategic planning, business development, human resources, legal, government affairs, MIS, administration and corporate communications. A point of note here is that there has been a position of president corporate affairs lying vacant since Nitin Atroley resigned a year ago.

    Singh will join Star in April, soon after the departure of Nair, whose last working day as head of India’s lead broadcaster is 26 March.

    With the public announcement of Singh’s appointment, Star now officially has two presidents. Paritosh Joshi is president, advertising sales and distribution.

    Commenting on Singh’s appointment, Aiello said, “Vijay is a veteran executive with a huge breadth of experience and we feel very fortunate to have attracted him to join Star India. His business acumen and unique insights into India and other developing markets will be invaluable as Star India readies itself for its next phase of growth and expansion.”

    Vijay Singh to be next Star India COO; Peter Chernin flying in

    MUMBAI: After Star CEO Paul Aiello, it is News Corp president and COO Peter Chernin, Rupert Murdoch’s right hand man, who will be coming to these shores to shore up the morale of the Indian team. Chernin is flying in late on Thursday and will be in Mumbai over the following three days meeting the troops as it were.

    And in a related development, Indiantelevision.com learns that Vijay Singh, former CEO of Sony Music and currently Tata group company Tetley Tea’s managing director, developing markets, has been appointed as Star India COO.

    The main agenda of Chernin’s visit would appear to be to reinforce India’s importance, as well as to make clear how the new executive structure in Hong Kong and India (of which Singh is a key element) will mesh with News Corp’s overall growth plans.

    Singh, who will complete serving out his notice at Tetley by the month-end, is not taking up his new assignment immediately however. Indications are that he will join Star in the latter half of March. Singh will reportedly be taking up his new position just ahead of the departure of Star Entertainment India CEO Sameer Nair, whose last working day as head of India’s lead broadcaster is 26 March.

    Star officials were unavailable for comment on the issue of Singh’s appointment.

    As regards the announcement of a CEO, it will be made within the next one to two months is all that Indiantelevision.com had been able to garner from industry sources at the time of filing this report.

    With Singh’s arrival as COO, and with Aiello holding additional charge as Star India CEO, the jewel in News Corp’s Asian crown will have gone back to the structure it had before March of 2006 when Nair was COO and Peter Mukerjea was CEO. Mukerjea exited Star as of 1 February.
