    Channels curate special line-up for Valentine’s Day

    MUMBAI: Love comes in all shapes and sizes and between all kinds of people. On Valentine’s Day, channels celebrate this love with a special programming line-up for its viewers. From Hindi movie channels to regional GECs to music channels to English movies channels, each one of them pays a tribute to a variety of love.

    Hindi movie channels

    Hindi movie channels Zee Cinema, &Pictures, Colors Cineplex and Sony MAX2 have scheduled various movies for viewers throughout the day. Sony MAX2 has curated a line-up with a wide variety of films that are iconic and commemorate some of the most memorable love stories that fans can watch. The channel will air movies from 12-28 February to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Its line-up includes titles like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge which aired on 12 February, Deewana airs on 14 February, Karan Arjun on 21 February, Akhiyon Se Goli Maare on 22 February and Heer Ranjha on 28 February.

    On 14 February, kickstarting the day with a treasure trove of heart-warming movies, &pictures with its special segment ‘Loveistaan’ will showcase the magic of new age love stories that are bordering on insanity and unimaginable passion with inconceivable limits that tests true love. From the caring husband like Laxmikant in Padman, to Madhav proving his love to his Half Girlfriend, &pictures will put together a pyaar and passion ka combination in its day long festival, 9.30 am onwards. Loveistaan: a day-long movie festival will air Padman at 9.30 am, Jabariya Jodi at 12 pm, LoveYatri at 3 pm, Kedarnath at 5.45 pm, Zero at 8 pm and Half Girlfriend at 11 pm. The channel will also air Dream Girl on 15 February at 8 pm.

    To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Zee Cinema has scheduled a World Television Premiere ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’ at 8 pm. Colors Cineplex is doing a Loveria Festival on Valentine's Day wherein the stars of Love Aaj Kal – Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan also shot a promo. It was a weeklong movie festival and showcased popular movies like Inspector Vijay, Magadheera, Bajirao Mastani, Garam and Manmadhudhu 2 to name a few. On 14 February the channel will bring a World Television Premiere of Dove, along with titles like The Super Khiladi 2, Dangerous Khiladi 3, Gabbar is Back, and Manmadhudu 2.

    English Movie Channels

    Zee English cluster celebrates the emotion that needs to language and the feeling that makes the world go round with a special line-up of blockbuster movies curated for the day. Zee Café, &flix and &PrivéHD are each set to present a day-long binge on 14 February 2020.

    &flix brings a collection of top-rated Hollywood hits with ‘The Things You Do For Love’. The day-long binge starting 9 am, includes the biggest and most-acclaimed movies such as the Wall-E, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Passengers and the sci-fi delight A-X-L among others.

    Adding a dash of romance to the day is the exciting line-up of Valentine’s Day special movies on Zee Café. The titles include Academy Award-winning movies such as Ratatouille and Slumdog Millionnaire along with celebrated rom-coms like How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, She Is Out Of My League and Playing It Cool, 8 am onwards.

    &PrivéHD, the premium destination of nuanced cinema is set to turn hearts to mush as it encourages viewers to feel the love, all day long with heart-warming movies as part of ‘Love All Day’ starting 9 am onwards. The line-up includes tales that explore the unconventional and unravel the other side of love, obsession and infatuation with titles such as Juliet, Naked, The New Romantic, The Seagull among others.

    Star Movies and Star Movies HD will air The Incredibles-2; Disney's Jungle Book, Titanic and Cinderella on 14 February. Star Movies Select and Star Movies Select HD will bring The Book of Life starring Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna at 3 pm.

    Regional Channels

    Colors Bangla has a Valentine’s Day special episodes in Kanak Kakan and Chirodini Ami Je Tomar. For its viewers Zee Thirai will air a world television premiere of Yen Aalodu Seruppu Kanum at 7 pm. Zee Cinemalu will be seen running a special line-up through the day, the channel will air Lovers at 7 am, Ye Maaye Chesave at 9 am, Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam at 12 pm, Hello at 3.30 pm, Mr. Majnu at 6:30 pm and Student No.1 at 9 pm.

    Music Channels

    The music channels will play the lists of top romantic songs throughout the day on their channels but apart from that Vh1 celebrates the day of love with couples and their #SignificantThird through a special contest. The channel has also come-up with a contest where viewers can participate in fun engagement by clicking on the Instagram link

    , tag their bae, their third-wheel and tell Vh1 why he/she is the couple's ‘Significant Third’.

    On 14 February, viewers can reminisce and take a look back at 50 of the best and most romantic love songs from this decade that mesmerized everyone on – ‘Vh1 top 50 love songs of the decade’ at 12pm & 5pm.

    MTV has also released its brand films on Valentine's Day. In its newly released brand film, couples from all walks of life engage in everyday arguments and conversations, something as relatable as couples fighting over eating on the bed, or ordering food from outside, not spending enough time with each other- only to prove that problems are as necessary to love as love is to life. The film shows how fights and arguments are normal for every couple on a regular basis, in the cutest way. But in the end, no matter what happens or even if the argument reaches a crescendo, love conquers all. These tiffs give you a sneak peek into the daily lives of the couples, irrespective of any limitation.

To further add to all the Diwali thrill Sony MAX2, will broadcast 12 movies under a three-day movie festival – ‘Jashn-e-Diwali’ starting October 25, featuring an extensive line-up of notable movies that families would love to watch together.

    Jashn-e-Diwali starts with Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer action packed Dhoom 2 followed by many dhamakedaar films including one of the most watched movie on television – Sooryavansham and the movie that has been screened in theaters for more than 1000 weeks – Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.     Sony MAX2 remembers Hrishikesh Mukherjee on his 97th birth-anniversary with ‘Lights, Camera, Kissey’

    MUMBAI: Sony MAX2 will host a special segment of Lights, Camera, Kissey on 28th September 2019 to pay a special tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee who is largely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of his era. The writer / director who symbolized the ‘middle-class man’ through his characters is recognized for his slice-of-life movies, many of which won several accolades. The upcoming episode of Lights Camera Kissey will pay a tribute to Hrishikesh Mukherjee with interesting trivia and unheard stories from his 1983 film Rang Birangi which also saw Parveen Babi’s last performance of her career.

    Hrishikesh Mukherjee fondly known as Hrishi da made his directorial debut with Dilip Kumar starrer Musafir in 1957 went on to direct over 40 movies in a career spanning close to 50 years. He was the directorial mastermind behind several iconic films like Satyakam, Chupke Chupke, Anupama, Anand, Abhimaan, Guddi, Gol Maal, Majhli Didi, Chaitali, Aashirwad, Bawarchi, Kissi Se Na Kehna and Namak Haraam amongst many others.

    Rang Birangi was one of his most memorable movies where a meddling friend whose attempt to rekindle the spark in his friend's relationship with his wife leads to complications in their lives. The story goes into a comical turn of events which are bound to keep audiences laughing endlessly. It is an iconic film that witnessed Amol Palekar and Parveen Babi share the screen for the first time.

    The man behind the lens was a legend, one that will always be remembered for his humility and versatile storylines and Shekhar Suman will be throwing some light on this in the upcoming episode of ‘Lights Camera Kissey’.

    Eminent actor and prolific storyteller, Shekhar Suman, will take audiences on a trip down memory lane, sharing some behind the scene, unheard stories that haven’t yet seen the light of the day! He will narrate stories of Bollywood actors, singers, producers and directors to give us a sneak peek into the bygone era of Hindi cinema through LCK on Sony MAX2.

    Mumbai, 9th May, 2018: When we think of the films from the 70s era, we are transferred to a world that saw the birth of new genres of movies – be it action, thriller or musical. One such film, a masterpiece that stands out for being the perfect blend of action, thrill, music and dialogues is the Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman starrer Don.

    As the film completes its 40 years’ milestone, Sony MAX2, India’s iconic Hindi movie channel from Sony Pictures Networks with its proposition Kuch Filmon ka Jaadu Kabhi Kam Nahin Hota, presents this cult classic on Saturday, 12th May 2018 at 7pm.

    Don is a crime thriller set against the backdrop of Mumbai’s underworld and revolves around Vijay, a Bombay slum-dweller who resembles the powerful crime boss Don and is asked by law enforcement officer DSP D’Silva (Iftekhar) to masquerade as Don, in order to act as an informant for the police and track down the root of the criminal organization.

    For those born in the 60s-70s era, Don was the perfect example of flower-power with an adrenaline rush, be it Roma (Zeenat Aman) who could be the girl next door and a deathly assassin with the same élan or the poor guy Vijay (Amitabh) as the one and only DON.

    MUMBAI: Rekha’s fans are in for a sweet surprise this week as India’s iconic Hindi movie channel from Sony Pictures Networks, Sony MAX2 is all set to air classic movie Biwi Ho Toh Aisi. A light-hearted family drama stars Bollywood legends Farooq Sheikh and Rekha in lead roles and marks the debut of Salman Khan in the industry. The movie also features yesteryear actors like Bindu, Kader Khan, Asrani and Onm Shivpuri in vital roles.

    Biwi Ho Toh Aisi revolves around soft-spoken, Suraj Bhandari (Farooq Shaikh) who follows his heart and marries the not so rich, yet talented village girl Shalu (Rekha) against his mother’s consent. Shalu welcomes herself in the household, where she has a submissive yet loving husband, caring father-in-law Kailash Bhandari (Kader Khan), dominating mother-in-law Kamla (Bindu) and supportive brother-in-law Vicky (Salman Khan). Like a doting daughter-in-law of the family, Shalu tries to overcome all the obstacles in her married life to win over the acceptance of her domineering mother-in-law.

    MUMBAI: It’s that time of the year again when television channels go full throttle to appease their viewers. With Diwali in full swing, broadcasters are betting high by undertaking several initiatives to bring television screens alive with their unique programming line-ups.

    With TV viewing expected to be higher at this time added to it is the fact that Diwali is falling on the weekend, several TV broadcasters have made it a point to create special programming during the season. To enhance the festivities of our viewers, Indiantelevision.com looks at some of the specials planned by the Hindi channels during Diwali this year.

    News Channels

    Aaj Tak

    The channel will air a show focused on spot reporting from different posts or camps of military and paramilitary forces, where our soldier stand guard on Diwali. Titled Border, the show will see the anchor going to the border or LoC post and show the country how they celebrate Diwali. This one hour show will air on 29 October at 9 pm with a repeat telecast on 30 October at 6 pm. The channel will also air a show titled Jab Desh Me Hai Diwali wherein the team will spend a day with the Army, BSF and CRPF jawans and see how they performed their Diwali puja. This show will air at 10 pm on 29 October with a repeat telecast at 10 am and 8 pm on 30 October.

    Ek Diya Shaheedon Ke Naam, will focus on Diwali of the Martyr family. The 60 minute long show will air on 30 October at 9 pm. Aye Dil ki Diwali was telecast on 29 October at 11 pm and will be repeated on 30 October at 4 pm and 11 pm. This show is an effort to light up the lives of the underprivileged children. The Aaj Tak team will travel to an orphanage in Mumbai with goodies as Diwali gifts. The children will be treated to a surprise as filmstars Ranveer Kapoor and Anushka Sharma pay them a visit.  The two actors will play games, sing songs, dance with the children and answer their questions.

    A special edition of AAA, this show will narrate the story of the Indian myth of Kuber. Titled Kuber Ka Khajana, this programme will air at 8 pm on 29 October and at12 pm and 10 pm on 30 October.  

    CNBC-TV18

    CNBC-TV18 will showcase India’s biggest and brightest market guru’s share insights and give their top stock picks to help viewers create wealth. Through their special programming line-up for Diwali, the business channel is bringing dedicated expert advice on stocks, markets, wealth creation ideas, investment insights and more.

    The channel will assess the impact of the festive season through CNBC–TV18 Festive Pulse Meter. In addition to this, there will be a fun element added with the Golden Boy of Bollywood Bappi Lahiri.

    Some of the investor focused initiatives being led by CNBC–TV18 this Diwali are:

    Muhurat Trading  on  30 October between 5.55pm to 8pm, The Big Bull wherein Udayan Mukherjee will interview Rakesh Jhunjhunwala discussing investments for the long term, the state of the markets, how Rakesh sees the markets going from one Diwali to next, etc. The show that got viewers 70 per cent returns from last year, CNBC-TV18 Hitlist is back with three experts Dipan Mehta, Prakash Diwan, Ambareesh Baliga. Programmed under wealth generation, Samvat 2073 Market Masters and Samvat 2073 God of stocks will have experts help the viewer with wealth creation ideas, investment insights and more    

    IBN7

    IBN7 has lined up exclusive Utsav programming starting from 1 October to 30 October  to bring to the viewers the excitement of the festivals.

    The programming will showcase Navratri celebrations from across the country along with live footage of Dandia from Mumbai and Gujarat. On the occasion of Dussehra, the channel will telecast live Ravan Dahan visuals and Ram Ek Khoj – a series of 5 one-hour specials on Ramayana related legends and tales associated with the island nation.

    The channel will next focus on Karva Chauth, highlighting celebrations of the festival in Bollywood and the TV world as well as a special segment Karva Chauth Ki Kahani.

    GEC

    &TV will present & It’s Diwali, a special two and a half hour programme with leading artists from the television industry who will perform on latest chart-busters and ring in Diwali with a lot of sparkle and style. The show will air on 29 October at 8 pm.

    Actors like Jay Bhanushali, Saumya Tandon, Angoori, Anita Bhabhi, Mouni Roy, Ritwik Dhanjani, Asha Negi, Sharad Malhotra, Kratika Sengar, etc will enthrall and entertain the audience.

    Viacom18’s Colors doesn’t have any special Diwali show but has popular properties like Thapki…Pyaar Ki, Sasural Simar Ka, Shakti…Astitva Ke Eshaas Kii, Bigg Boss 10 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa lined up for the viewers.

    Sony SAB celebrated Diwali with their annual property called SAB Ki Diwali on October 27 which was filled with colourful performances by cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and its other shows. Additionally, across all their shows there will be Diwali celebrations as part of programming.

    Hindi Movies

    &pictures will add a thrilling flavor to the Diwali festivities with the premiere of horror flick 1920 London on 31 October at 8 pm. Written by Vikram Bhatt and directed by Tinu Desai, the movie stars Sharman Joshi, Meera Chopra and small screen hunk Vishal Karwal in the lead.

    Sony Max and Max2 will kick- start the festivities with a specially curated movie list. Commencing from 29 October to 31 October, Sony Max’s Dilwali Dhamaka and Jashn- E- Diwali on Sony Max2 will bring a potpourri of entertaining super hits.

    While Sony Max will air titles like Mera Target, Robot, PK, Dhoom3, ABCD2, Jaani Dushman, Magadheera, Bahubali, Dilwale, Return of Rebel, etc, Max2 will telecast movies like Chandni, Yaarana, Guru, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Don, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, etc.
