    SPN India launches FTA movie channel ‘Sony Wah’

    MUMBAI: After Star India launching its free to air (FTA) movie channel Star Utsav Movie, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has expanded the scope of its Hindi movie channels from 3 to 4 with Sony Wah.

    Based on a deep understanding of audiences across different strata in the Hindi-speaking markets (HSM) landscape, Sony WAH a premium FTA Hindi movie channel will cater to the unserved needs of rural and small town India.

    Celebrating the best of Hindi Cinema, Sony WAH, with its positioning of ‘Filmon Ka Mela” will bring alive the content and experience that audiences of FTA channels have never seen before. The channel will showcase a mix of Hindi movies as well as films from the southern parts of India dubbed in Hindi. There will be a lot of marquee titles as well ranging across present-day blockbusters to movies from the last 3 decades.

    With this launch, SPN’s Hindi movie channel cluster comprising of Sony MAX, Sony MAX2, Sony MAX HD and Sony WAH will cover the entire viewer spectrum of HSM at 94 percent unduplicated reach.

    MUMBAI:  Sun TV continued its run at the top position in week 22 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, followed by Star Plus and Colors at second and third place respectively with Sony Max moving to fourth place from last week’s second place. 

    The last five saw movement along with a re-entry and an exit. Star Utsav moved up a place to sixth from last week’s seventh. Zee Anmol re-entered the list, while Maa TV exited after a short stint at tenth place last week. Its peer in the Telugu space, Zee Telugu retained eighth place. The list covers the top 10 channels across all genres.

    Placed at the top slot, Sun TV reported higher ratings in week 22 at 979272 Impression (000s) as compared to 965644 Impression (000s) in week 21. Star Plus moved back after a long IPL driven haitus that had pushed it and Colors down. Star Plus reported higher ratings with 771342 Impression (000s) in week 22 as compared to 701975 Impression (000s) in the previous week.

    Colors moved up in week 22 with 720052 Impression (000s) as compared to 679907 Impressions (000s) in week 21. Sony Max with a far lower score in week 22 of 618756 Impression (000s) as compared to 884251 Impression (000s) in the previous week was at fourth week.

    Zee TV retained fifth space in week 22 with lower ratings of 567178 Impressions (000s) as compared to 570091 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. 

    Star Utsav also retained sixth place with a growth in rating to 527825 Impressions (000’s) from 478993 Impressions (000’s) in the previous week. , Sony Pal also retained its last week’s position of seventh place with 526739 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 467806 Impressions (000’s).

    Life OK returned to eight spot, pushing down Zee Telugu one place in week 22 with 438899 Impressions (000s) as compared to 435353 Impressions (000s) in week 21

    ZeeTelugu moved one place down to ninth place in week 22 with 472509 Impressions (000s) as compared to 458926 Impressions (000s) during last week.

    Zee Anmol returned to the top ten list in week 22 after a one week break with 431517 Impressions (000s).

Star Utsav moved up to seventh from the tenth position in week 19, while Zee Telugu, the only other regional channel among the top 10, returned to tenth place from the previous week’s ninth slot. The list covers the top 10 channels across all genres.

    Returning to the top slot once again, Sun TV reported 950618 Impression (000s) in week 20 as compared to 944626 Impression (000s) in week 19. Sony Max lost ratings with a score of 881515 Impression (000s) from 944851 Impression (000s) in week 19 to fall back to second place.

    In the ding dong battle between third and fourth spots, Star Plus once again climbed to number three in week 20 with 702036 Impression (000s) as compared to 664177 Impressions (000s) in week 19. Colors was fourth with 668837 Impressions (000s) as compared to 703707 Impression (000s) in week 19

    BARC week 17: Sony Max continued its lead across genres

    MUMBAI: Sony Max continued to lead across the genres while Sun TV secured second place, while free to air channel Rishtey exited the top ten list in week 17 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data.

    Sony Max garnered first position with 962992 Impressions (000’s) on the back of the ongoing Indian Premiere League. Sun TV, which has been the leader across the genres until the ninth season of IPL commenced, grabbed the second slot with  914047 Impressions (000’s) this week.

    Star Plus bagged the third position with 748672 Impressions (000’s) followed by Colors on number four with 722264 Impressions (000s) and Zee TV grabbed the fifth place with 576721 Impressions (000s).

    Sony Pal stood at number six with 550246 Impressions (000’s) followed by Life OK with 495250  Impressions (000’s) grabbed seventh slot and Star Utsav fell to number eight with 487336 Impressions (000’s).

    Zee Anmol  and Zee Telugu  garnered the ninth and tenth spots with 474977 Impressions (000s) and 443316 Impressions (000s) respectively.
