    MUMBAI:  TOIFA 2016 announces Sony Entertainment Television as the official telecasting partner for India. This year TOIFA promises to be larger than life with all the A-listers from the Bollywood industry attending and performing on March 18th at Dubai International Stadium.

    With programming that is targeted towards family audiences, the channel will bring broad exposures for TOIFA, 2016 given its reach across urban and tier II & III markets in India.

    Star Plus topples Colors to claim pole position in BARC week 8

    MUMBAI: The fight for the pole position in Hindi general entertainment channel continues between Colors and Star Plus in week 8 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data. As per the latest data from BARC, Star Plus secured the leadership slot while Colors stood at number two even after an increase in ratings.

    Star Plus grabbed the lead position in the Hindi GEC genre with 768495 (‘000s) and bagged the second place with 725868 (‘000s) against 692564 (‘000s) in week 7.  

    Zee Network’s Hindi entertainment channel Zee TV secured the third berth with a decline in ratings to 645473 (‘000s) against  666691 (‘000s) in the previous week. Its free to air channel Zee Anmol too witnessed a fall in ratings with 625553 (‘000s) viewership against 656412 (‘000s) in last week, but maintained its the fourth spot.

    Star Ustav climbed up to number five with 492907(‘000s), followed by Sony Pal with 477372 (‘000s) on sixth spot and Life OK with 437776 (‘000s) stood at number seven. 

    With no change in last three positions in the ranking list, Rishtey stood at number eight with 372527(‘000s). Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Television continued at ninth and tenth slot with 363158 (‘000s) and 311654 (‘000s) respectively.

    Kapil Sharma set to make a comeback on Sony with comedy show in May

    MUMBAI: Speculations about actor – comedian Kapil Sharma joining hands with Sony Entertainment Television can finally be laid to rest. It’s official now! Sharma, who had a rather acrimonious fallout with Colors recently, is all set to join hands with Sony to launch a comedy show.

    Confirming the news to Indiantelevision.com, Sony Pictures Networks India CEO NP Singh said, “You will see Kapil soon on Sony TV in a few months’ time.”

    According to information available with Indiantelevision.com, the weekend show is slated to launch in May. 

    A source close to development informed that Sharma’s new show on Sony will be produced by Frames Productions and Sharma’s K9. 

    It may be recalled that before hopping on to Colors with Comedy Nights With Kapil, he was onboard one of Sony’s most popular comedy reality shows – Comedy Circus and has also been a winner of six seasons.

    That apart, in a bid to grab eyeballs, Sony Entertainment Television is also gearing up to regale its audience with the launch of two new shows namely Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi and EK Duje Ke Vaste on 29 February.  

    Produced by Beyond Dreams Productions, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi boasts of a talented star cast comprising Supriya Pilgaonkar, Shaheer Sheikh and Erica Fernandes in lead roles. It is a new age love story that deals with modern day intricacies of romantic relationships. The show will be aired at 9:30 pm from Monday – Friday. 

    On the other hand, Ek Duje Ke Vaste produced by Bindu Productions is a story of Shravan played by Namik Paul and Suman played by Nikita Dutta that explores the conflict between love and self-respect. It will be aired at 10 pm from Monday to Friday.

We are thrilled to associate with Yash Patnaik & Dilip Jha for these two shows respectively.”

    MUMBAI: The flagship Hindi general entertainment channels of Star India, Viacom18 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises have maintained their place in the top three slots in the genre in week 5 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data in HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals.

     

    While Star Plus retained its numero uno position with an increase in ratings at 724223 (‘000s) in week 5, Colors also witnessed a spike in ratings with 713106 (‘000s) and managed to hold on to its second position. On the other hand, while witnessing a drop in ratings from last week, Zee TV held on to its third position with 684106 (‘000s).

     

    Zee Network’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol too saw a drop in ratings from last week but held on to its position in the fourth spot with 540883 (‘000s).

     

    Life OK climbed up the charts from its place in the eight position last week to perch on the fifth spot with 425211 (‘000s) in week 5, while Star Utsav with 355093 (‘000s) was down one spot to stand in the sixth place with a considerable fall in ratings from last week’s 487280 (‘000s).

     

    Sony Entertainment Television with 338638 (‘000s) and its sister channel Sab with 334730 (‘000s) were in the seventh and eighth position respectively. On the other hand, Sony Pal with 330874 (‘000s) was in the ninth place.

     

    Rishtey with 289121 (‘000s) saw a massive drop in ratings from last week’s 416858 (‘000s) and fell to the tenth spot from its erstwhile seventh position.

    Dhadkan launched on Monday and airs thrice a week through to Wednesday while Hubahu opens tomorrow airing Thursdays. The contests close on 21 February. Another feature is that surfers can download wallpapers, listen to the title track, watch promos and trailers.

    Hubahu is a comedy about twins and mistaken identity. The channel has positioned it as a show that will break the monotony of the saas-bahu triangle stories. The channel looks at Hubahu as a truly fresh concept, with a storyline new to the tube. The twins have contrasting personalities. There are four questions for this with multiple options.
