    MUMBAI:In its continued efforts in inspiring, influencing and making students ‘feel alive’ with its enthralling content, Sony BBC Earth, India’s most loved factual entertainment channel, recently concluded the third edition of ‘feel alive hours’. Post the phenomenal success of the first and second edition of this exclusive on-ground property, the channel made the third edition bigger in scale and outreach by adding Chennai to the list. This year’s edition reached out to over 1 lakh students across 300 schools in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata, and helped the students open their eyes to the wonders of the world amidst their busy study schedule.

    An idea born from a BBC Research about how being connected to nature makes one happy, ‘feel alive hours’ helped rekindle the joy of being closer to nature through positive, insightful stories from some of the channel’s landmark shows. This year’s edition, additionally, emphasised on the importance and the relevance of ‘Being Eco Conscious’. Students were encouraged to adopt and advocate sustainable living through thought-provoking stories and ‘Do it yourself’ workshops on reusing plastic bottles as bird feeders, plant pots and lava lamps.

    The especially curated educative and entertaining 90 minutes program also included quirky science experiments, engaging quizzes, exciting eco-friendly giveaways and many mind-blowing and never seen before stories on fun science, nature, wildlife, adventure, exploration, manufacturing, culture, food, fitness and more.

    Of the 300 schools covered, there were 75 schools in Mumbai including RBK Global School and Arya Vidya Mandir; 75 schools in Delhi including Alpine school and Ryan International School; 75 schools in Chennai including VNR Vivekananda Vidyalaya and Ramakrishnan Mission Matrix Higher Secondary School; 50 schools in Bangalore including Cambridge and AECS Magnolia CBSE and 25 schools in Kolkata including G B Memorial and Harvard House High School. Basis the phenomenal response, the faculty and students are inspired to co-exist with nature and be more responsible about their plastic footprint.

    MUMBAI: India’s premium infotainment channel Sony BBC Earth is all set to premiere the much-anticipated series on biodiversity across the seven distinct continents – Seven Worlds, One Planet – on 20 January at 9PM. Narrated by the Godfather of Natural History – Sir David Attenborough – and set to a beautiful musical score by Hans Zimmer, the series will take viewers on an incredible 7-part journey revealing how each distinct continent has shaped the extraordinary animal behavior and biodiversity found there.

    ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’ will premiere in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and has attracted marquee advertisers including TATA Intra as the Co-presenting sponsor and Suhana and BYJU’S as the co-presenting sponsors. By telling unknown, unseen and unexpected wildlife stories, the series is set to uncover the fundamental truth about what makes each one of our seven worlds unique.  

    Rated 9.5 on IMDB and from the makers of Planet Earth II, ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’ is shot over 4 years in 38 countries by a crew of over 1500 people worldwide and is the first time BBC Studio has explored all the planet’s continents in a single series. It not only celebrates the diversity of life on each of these continents, but also features the many challenges faced by animals in a modern world dominated by humanity.

    Given the spectacular prowess of the content, the premiere was supported by an engaging and extensive on-ground and social media plan. Starting with the global premiere at the Royal Opera House, Mumbai, this was the first time that Sony BBC Earth was a part of a one-of-a-kind global launch. Over 400 students from select schools got a chance to be the first few in the world to not only witness the first episode of this much awaited series, but also interact with the talented crew including Sir David Attenborough.

    While Royal Opera House screening was on invitation basis, Sony BBC Earth also hosted ‘open to all’ screenings of select episodes at various consumer touchpoints, to create excitement and chatter, leading to the big television premiere. In a category first move, the channel partnered with The Lil Flea, Mumbai – the city’s biggest flea market – and screened two episodes at the festival, creating a cozy, family-viewing experience. Additionally, The Lil Flea housed a thought-provoking art gallery with breath-taking visuals from each continent supported by the unheard stories that explain the diversity behind each continent.

    The channel also joined hands with India Habitat Centre in Delhi and SOCIAL in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune to screen South America and Asia episodes for the patrons, before the Indian Television Premiere. SOCIAL event curated a special menu inspired from the seven continents which will be available across 23 outlets in 5 cities. The idea behind the menu is to celebrate the diversity of our world in one meal.

    On social media, a robust 4-week promotion plan kickstarts with a LIVE interaction with Fredi Devas – Producer of the first episode: Antarctica, on the day of the episode premiere. Also, there’s something exciting planned for the premiere of each episode on 7 continents.     Sony BBC Earth, from 26 – 29 December, as the ‘Earth Partner’ urged the attendees to responsibly dispose the waste and be more aware of their plastic footprint and its long-lasting impact. Festival goers were confronted with eye-opening and thought-provoking facts, across the campus, like ‘it takes 450 years for a plastic bottle to decompose’ and ‘by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fishes’ to make visitors think about their own plastic footprint and inspire a positive behavioral change. Eventually, 4500 kgs of waste collected was responsibly managed by ‘Mood Indigo’ and Sony BBC Earth, making it India’s first zero waste college festival.

    MUMBAI: Set to enthral the world is BBC’s much-awaited landmark series ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’, which received a one-of-a-kind global launch on 7th October amidst students and guests in London, India and Africa. In India, Sony BBC Earth partnered with Royal Opera House to host this exclusive event for a select 500 school children who were the first few in the world to be a part of this global premiere and witness the biggest series ever produced on biodiversity.

    The grand event was hosted by actress Tara Sharma Saluja and graced by Maria Goretti and Cyrus Sahukar, all three are sincere environment advocates and big fans of Sir David Attenborough. The enthusiastic audience watched the first part – Antarctica – of the 7-part series, before joining a live Q&A session with the crew in London. The response to the first episode was overwhelming as students cheered in support of Weddell Seals and Baby Albatross and were beyond thrilled to quiz Sir David Attenborough and the production team about the challenges involved in making the series.

    Premiering in India in December, ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’ tells the story of earth’s spectacular and unique seven continents, each one full of life and how they shape the extraordinary animal behaviour and biodiversity we see today. For the series, filmmakers have employed new technology, including boundary-defining drone techniques, to capture unique perspectives, new species, and animal behaviour never before seen.

    MUMBAI: 50 years ago, on July 20, 1969, millions of people around the world witnessed a trio of astronauts – Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collin – create history, as they became the first men to step on the moon. To commemorate this historical milestone, Sony Pictures Networks India’s (SPNI) English Cluster (comprising channels like Sony BBC Earth, AXN and Sony PIX) will celebrate the big day by premiering the movie ‘First Man’ and ‘8 days to the Moon’ for the first time on Indian television.

    The Oscar and Golden Globe winning film ‘First Man’, is a biography on the life of astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969. The movie, starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy, will air on AXN and Sony PIX this July 20 at 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

    In a unique initiative, Sony BBC Earth has partnered with India’s largest interactive science centre – Nehru Science Centre – to showcase its content 8 Days: To the Moon and Back. The docu-series chronicles the journey of the first man to step on the moon.     MUMBAI: Content may be King, but so is the viewer. Sony BBC Earth, India’s premium factual entertainment channel, takes another leap in audience engagement by giving viewers the choice to pick their favourite shows of 2018 on the channel. 

    Last year, Sony BBC Earth made the viewers feel alive with a specially curated ‘Best of Earth’ line-up. This unique initiative is the channels’ attempt to bring consumer preferences to the fore.
