  • Radio City lines up slew of new shows for Bangalore listeners

    MUMBAI: Radio City 91 FM is introducing a whole new host of English shows for its Bangalore station, starting 22 August.

    Nite Mix from 9 pm – midnight will be a one-stop shop for world class English music. While on Sundays from 2 – 5 pm Vintage 91 will treat listeners with classics from the yesteryears. And to top it all, there is an International Top 25 featuring the latest chartbusters in English music on Saturdays from 6 – 9 pm.

    Radio City 91 FM’s shows will be hosted by Rohit Barker. Says he, “Now I’m hosting the Night Mix every week night as well as the International Top 25 every Saturday. It’s going to be your destination for the best International music. It’s going to be very interactive… your voice… your station… your music!”

    That’s not all, Bangaloreans are in for more treat with six more new exciting shows that are being launched. For fans of hit Kannada music the station has added Total Time Pass every week day from 4 – 5 pm – a Kannada show with a little bit of Bollywood music.

    Students have something exciting to look forward to with Brunch with the Boss on Saturday from 11 am – 12 noon. The first chat show on-air focusing on top CEO’s talking about their official and personal lives and career opportunities in their area of work.

    Sunday will see an exciting slew of shows with mornings with RJ Kiran on Chow Chow Baat entertaining his listeners with the best from Kannada Music from 7 – 11 am.

    Building Blocks is a show for all your queries and guidelines on house hunting from 11 am – 12 noon. Followed by Destination 91 from 12 noon to 2 pm that will introduce listeners to places of interest in India with details on how to get there and what to do there.

    For matters of the heart the in-house specialist will be there on air to discuss problems and issues faced by lovers on Saturday from 2 – 5 pm on Stupid Cupid.

  • Zee’s Jagran TV rolls out slew of fresh programming

    MUMBAI: Zee Telefilm’s spiritual channel, Jagran will adorn an all new look this summer with a number of new programmes and innovative channel packaging.

    The channel is working hard to draw and hold the attention of the young and middle-aged people, while keeping intact its convention viewers in older age groups.
     
    The channel has now lined up program properties that will offer “spirituality” in its true form and at the same time offer entertainment value to its viewers. The channel’s viewpoint reflects a secular vision and is trying to get more interactive with its viewers, states an official release.

    The channel has started Azan at 8.30 time band everyday. The new programs that are being introduced this month are Flavours of Faith, a program that showcases glimpses of teachings of all religions . A separate program on the life and the teachings of Gautam Buddha is lined up that will narrate stories from the life of Buddha and highlight his teachings in an applicative way along with simple meditation techniques.
     
     

    Other weekly programs in the pipeline include The Tarot Show hosted by the international tarot reader Nancy Sood, a call in program that answers to viewer questions online. Besides the daily discourses delivered by Osho, documentaries will shown on the channel for the first time ever. Also in the pipeline are special episodes by Shri Ravi Shanker on Art of Living course, program by Vikas Malkani on meditation, international episodes from Bramhakumaries, Interactive Yoga program by the new age Yogacharya Dr. Surakshit Goswmi and an interactive road show based on Astrology.

    The channel packaging that includes the recently acquired new look of the channel logo is being done innovatively that offers creatively done fillers or breathers that provide 3-5 minute breaks for the viewers in between scheduled programs. These daily fillers include mini program properties like – Instant Yoga (that carries simple yoga tips for daily use at office, while driving or at home. Customized tips are also available for different age groups-children, youth, middle and aged groups). There is a daily feed of humour with Osho Jokes and Osho statements in his inimitable style.

    Vikas Malkani offers a Thought of the Day that provides tips on meditation and enlightenment. The Tips of the Day offers viewers with quick reference applications on Vastu, Feng Shui, Food, Health and Alternate Lifestyle, the release adds.

    The channel has also short-listed some most popular mantras and inspirational songs. The mantras have been redone with more ambience, resonance and body in treatment of the songs that offers a fresh appeal to the established or stagnated audio perception.

    To top it all, the channel has broadened the scope of its film library and added some legendary titles, that are lined up for telecast this summer. A few of them are socio-patriotic greats of their time – Shaheed (old), Saransh, Eeshwar, Upkaar, Purab aur Paschim, Shaheed Bhagat Singh (new) and more.

  • Samsung lines up special promotions for Puja; slew of products launched

    MUMBAI: Samsung India has launched a promotion programme for the festival period and has also unveiled a slew of hi-tech AV products – LCD, Plasma, DLP TVs and Home Theatre Systems.

    Samsung also announced its consumer promotion, Samsung ‘Pehla Kamaal, Doosra Dhamaal’ offer, which will be available in the east between 15 September – 31 October, 2005 and in the rest of the country between 25 September – 10 November, 2005.

     

     
    Samsung launched two new 42” Plasma Panels; three new advanced Slim LCD TVs in 20”, 26” and 32” screen sizes, as well as a 50” Samsung DLP TV.

    The Samsung PS42S5 model, which is HDTV Ready, is priced at Rs 240,000, while the PS42D5 is priced at Rs 200,000. With the introduction of the new models Samsung Plasma Panel range is available in screen sizes between 42”- 63” and is priced in the range between Rs 200,000 – Rs 900,000.

     
     
    Samsung’s new advanced LCD range, available in 20” 26” and 32” screen sizes, uses 10 bit processing method and 3.2 billion colours to ensure a more natural and vivid picture that is much closer to the original source image. With a 3000:1 Dynamic Contrast ratio, Brightness Sensor, Wide Viewing Angle 170?/170? and HDTV Ready functionality, the Samsung LCD TV guarantees vivid, razor sharp images.

    The Samsung LCD models are priced at Rs 44,990 for LA20S5 (20”), Rs 69,990 for LA26R5 and Rs 109,990 for LA32R5. The Samsung LCD TV range is priced in the range Rs 44,990 – Rs 240,000 (20”~40” screen sizes).

    Samsung India deputy managing director Ravinder Zutshi said, “We expect the value contribution of our hi-end CTVs to our total CTV range to grow to 10 per cent this year from around four per cent level last year.”

     
     
    The Samsung 50”DLP TV, SP50L7, with Samsung’s unique DLP optical technology is priced at Rs 235,000. The Samsung DLP TV range is available in 50”, 56” and 61” screen sizes, priced in the range between Rs 175,000 to Rs 250,000.

    The company has also launched three new Home Theatre models in the Indian market. The flagship model of the new Home Theatre range is the HT-P1200, the world’s first HDMi and USB Host Home Theatre System. It has a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) for 100 per cent Digital to Digital Signal transfer. While the HT-P1200 is priced at Rs 68,000, the HT-RP16 is priced at Rs 16,900 and HT-TP 33 is priced at Rs 23,900.

    “We are aiming at a market share of 30 per cent in the Home Theatre category this year,” added Zutshi.

    The Samsung ‘Pehla Kamaal Doosra Dhamaal’ consumer promotion for the Festival season, is a scratch based promotion, with a difference. As part of this promotion, any customer buying a Samsung Audio Video or Home Appliance product gets two chances to win exciting gifts instead of one.

    The First Scratch or the ‘Pehla Kamaal’ reveals to the customer the sure shot or the assured gift he/she has won. The sure shot gift options include a copper based utensil set, five piece parka container set, microwaveable lunch box and an electric kettle.
