    Zee Tamil dons fresh look; lines up new content offering

    MUMBAI: Zee Tamil is all set to don a fresh look and feel with its new packaging, which is aligned with its new content offering.

     

    The channel’s refreshed logo reflects the colour of Manjal (turmeric) and Kunkumam (kum kum), the two most auspicious colours and symbols in Tamil Nadu. The channel has positioned itself as people’s favourite channel with the new positioning statement “Ithu Namma Channel” (It is Our Channel).

     

    At the content level, new programmes include entertaining game shows, serials as well as reality and star-studded shows. The channel has recently launched two new serials namely Lakshmi Vanthachu and Annakodiyum Ainthu Pengalum in tune with the new positioning.

     

    The new upcoming serials will have differential and aspirational storylines appealing to the entire family. A new format game show Genes, is slated to launch in April. This will be the first of its kind show in Tamil GECs where celebrities play the game along with their relations. The show will be anchored by Suma, the most popular anchor in Telugu television, who is making her foray into Tamil Nadu market through this show.

     

    Tamil Nadu being a film market, movies play a key role in contributing to the overall television viewership. Zee Tamil has also expanded its movie library with the acquisition of blockbusters like Vikram Prabhu’s Vellaikara Durai, Kamal Haasan’s Uthama Villain, critically acclaimed Kayal and Sidharth’s Enakul Oruvan.

     

    Elaborating on the need for the new look, Zee Tamil business head Easwaran said, “Understanding the pulse of Tamil Nadu has been the strength of Zee Tamil. Every few years, a new set of audience come into television. The challenge lies in embracing the new audience into the existing one. The aim is to capture the hearts and minds of Tamil Nadu in its entirety and to make Zee Tamil the most watched general entertainment channel in Tamil Nadu.”

    Maruti ropes in Sidharta Mahadevan for ‘Breathless’ type anthem

    BENGALURU: Indian car major Maruti Suzuki India launched the new Alto K10 in Bengaluru on 4 November. The announcement was made by Maruti marketing and sales executive director RS Kalsi in the city while it has already been launched in the NCR region and Mumbai.

     

    The company has planned a month long 360 degree media campaign created by Lowe Partners. Television, print, outdoor and digital are the mediums on which the campaign will play out on. The theme of the campaign is ‘Chase your dream’.

     

    The new Alto K10 TVC has started playing out across major HSM, English and regional GEC’s and news channels since the car is targeted at the young among the masses. The TVC has been produced by Chrome Pitctures and directed by Manoj S Pillai.

     

    The company is also toying with the idea of utilising a ‘Breathless’ type ‘New Alto K10 Anthem’ that has been rendered by Shankar Mahadevan’s son Sidharth.

     

    The Alto brand has been one of the most successful of Maruti’s brands in terms of number of units of sold and has won a number of awards for the company. Since the launch of the first Alto K10 in 2010, the company has sold around 430,000 units. The new Alto K10 has CNG and auto gear shift models. The company expects these variants to increase volumes by around 10 to 15 per cent.

     

    Having won millions of customers, Maruti decided to upgrade an already successful car with a full model change that makes the Alto K10 taller, wider and roomier and about 15 per cent more efficient says the company. The car comes in six colours with Tango Orange its signature colour.

    CNBC-TV18 elevates Sidharth Zarabi to national news editor

    MUMBAI: CNBC-TV18, India’s No.1 business channel, has announced a strengthening of its editorial leadership team with a new role being assigned to senior editor Sidharth Zarabi as National News Editor. In this new capacity, Zarabi’s mandate will be to drive reporting teams nationally apart from leading special news programming initiatives on the channel. Zarabi earlier was the Economic Policy Editor and the Delhi bureau chief for CNBC-TV18.

    Speaking on this development, Anil Uniyal, CEO, CNBC-TV18 & CNBC Awaaz, said “Sidharth has played a critical role in CNBC-TV18’s leadership so far and going forward his expertise will be invaluable in terms of how CNBC-TV18 contributes as well as benefits from our integrated business newsroom”

    Commenting on this, Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor, CNBC-TV18 said “Siddharth is a versatile and prolific journalist with over 16 years of experience. He has brought energy and dynamism to the news room. In his new role as National News Editor, he will work closely with me to drive CNBC-TV18’s team of reporters. He will also front special news based shows for the channel

    Zarabi has over 15 years of experience and prior to joining the group in 2008, he has had stints with the Business Standard and The Indian Express.
