    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has appointed Kunal Wadhwani as head of social media and digital marketing to give a push the company’s digital marketing initiatives.

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Jai Maroo said, “We are glad to welcome Kunal on board. We understand the importance of digital marketing and its growing influence on the masses. Kunal will drive Shemaroo’s way forward in digital marketing.”

    Prior to joining Shemaroo Entertainment, Wadhwani was with Everymedia Technologies heading media planning and buying. He also managed digital marketing and Online Reputation Management (ORM) for Bollywood movies, brands and celebrities.

    MUMBAI: In a bid to keep old movies relevant in today’s fast paced digital world, Shemaroo Entertainment has launched an innovative initiative called ‘Shemaroo Retro Talkies’ on social media.

    Shemaroo Retro Talkies is an innovative story-telling format for Bollywood films via which the company will capture evergreen movies in a few posts. The company will make this available on its Facebook page, Twitter handle and YouTube channel. Under this, a movie will be re-released every fortnight and each movie will have its own way of story-telling that may be through short videos, GIFs or sketches.

    The first movie to re-release under this initiative is the Sunny Deol starrer Ghayal. The entire movie has been captured in five tweets / posts.

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Jai Maroo said, “With Shemaroo Retro Talkies, we want users to re-live classic Bollywood movies and also connect to the youth who’ve not watched these movies before. We will be narrating the entire story of the film but in a format that people like to consume these days like short videos, GIFs and sketches. The format will give out the entire story of the film in less than five minutes and help them decide if they want to watch the full film.”

    Shemaroo launches Miniplex movie service on Tata Sky

    MUMBAI: After joining hands with Airtel Digital TV, Shemaroo Entertainment has now tied up with yet another DTH operator – Tata Sky to launch its subscription-based movie premiere service Miniplex.

     

    The subscription based ad-free service Miniplex will premiere one movie every Friday for the first time on Indian television as well as other recent movies.

     

    As was reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, in addition to DTH, Shemaroo also plans to launch Miniplex across other platforms like cable and online in a phased manner.

     

    The monthly subscription price for the service is Rs 60. To activate it, consumers can give a missed call to 9230892308. For HD subscribers, the service is on channel number 298, whereas for SD subscribers, it is on 298.

     

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada said, “Miniplex is a subscription-based movie premiere service curated to cater to movie lovers across the country. We are glad to tie up with Tata Sky for this service. Tata Sky consumers can now enjoy world television premiere of movies on every Friday. Not only this, other movies showcased on the channel are carefully selected set of movies that are not telecasted on television so often.”

     

    The ‘Premieres’ are supported by ‘Premiums,’ which are movies released post 2005. ‘Premiums’ will be showcased for five days of the week with everyday featuring a new movie.

     

    Tata Sky chief content and business strategy officer Paolo Agostinelli added, “To satisfy our subscriber’s hunger for refreshing content, we were glad to tie-up with Shemaroo to provide this collection of movies under the new service called Miniplex. The day-long movie timings, enriched content with the novel concept of premiere and premium movies  ensure the movie-buff’s of Tata Sky have entertainment on their fingertips 24×7.”

    Q2-2016: Shemaroo revenue up 10% at Rs 93.62 crore

    BENGALURU: Indian integrated media content house Shemaroo Entertainment Limited (Shemaroo) reported 10.2 per cent higher  consolidated Total Income from Operations (TIO) for the quarter ended 30 September, 2015 (Q2-2016, current quarter) at Rs 93.62 crore as compared to Rs 84.96 crore in Q2-2015 and 20.4 per cent more than the Rs 77.63 crore in Q1-2016.

    (2) All numbers are consolidated unless stated otherwise.

    Shemaroo’s consolidated PAT for the current quarter improved 30.7 per cent to Rs 11.20 crore (12 per cent margin) as compared to the Rs 8.57 crore (10.1 per cent margin) but declined four per cent as compared to the Rs 11.67 crore (15 per cent margin) in Q1-2016.

    Shemaroo’s EBIDTA including other income at Rs 24.34 crore (26 per cent margin) increased 14.8 per cent YoY as compared to Rs 21.20 crore (25 per cent margin) and declined by 0.6 per cent QoQ from Rs 24.48 crore (31.5 per cent margin).

    The company’s Total Expenditure (TE) in Q2-2016 at Rs 70.86 crore (75.7 per cent of TIO) increased 9.2 per cent YoY as compared to Rs 64.91 crore (76.4 per cent of TIO) and was 30 per cent more than Rs 54.50 crore (70.2 per cent of TIO) in Q1-2016.

    The company’s cost of Raw Materials consumed increased 89.4 per cent in Q2-2016 to Rs 113.58 crore (121.3 per cent of TIO) as compared to Rs 59.98 crore (70.6 per cent of TIO) in Q2-2015 and was 22.6 per cent more than the Rs 92.65 crore (119.3 per cent of TIO) in Q1-2015.

    Employee Benefit Expense (EBE) in Q2-2015 increased 30.9 per cent to Rs 6.01 crore (6.4 per cent of TIO) as compared to the Rs 4.59 crore (5.4 per cent of TIO) and was 31.2 per cent more than the Rs 4.58 crore (5.9 per cent of TIO) in Q1-2016.

    Basic and undiluted EPS in Q2-2016 was Rs 4.12; in Q2-2015 EPS was Rs 4.30 and in Q1-2016 was Rs 4.29.

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment tied up with direct to home (DTH) platform Airtel Digital TV to launch a movie premiere service called Miniplex.

     

    Miniplex will premiere one movie every Friday for the first time on Indian television. In addition, the service, which is an ad free subscription based service will also showcase other recent movies.

     

    In addition to DTH, Shemaroo also plans to launch Miniplex across various other platforms, like cable and online in a phased manner in the future. 

     

    Miniplex is a cross platform subscription-based movie premiere service that will provide the audiences an opportunity to view premiere and also premium movie content for a subscription fee of Rs 60 per month or Rs 3 daily. The Miniplex service will be available on channel number 162 on Airtel Digital TV. 

     

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada said, “Miniplex is a richly curated movie premiere service and we are glad to launch it with a partner like Airtel Digital TV. We have seen that apart from the top few movies of the year, audiences end up missing most movies in theatres. Very often TV channels too don’t carry many such movies and so consumers don’t have access to them. With Miniplex, we hope to bridge this gap. In addition, we have also picked good recent movies, which may have already premiered on TV but don’t get telecast often.”

     

    Airtel Digital TV chief marketing officer S Sriram added, “As a customer focused brand, we at Airtel constantly strive to introduce innovative products and services with an aim to enhance our customer’s TV viewing experience. We are therefore happy to partner Shemaroo for the launch of Miniplex, which is an innovative service to enable movie buffs to catch up on latest blockbusters in the comfort of their home at an affordable price.”

     

    The movies on the service will be scheduled at fixed timings throughout the day.

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment and video-on-demand service HOOQ have inked a partnership, which will see the addition of more than 1000 movie titles across multiple genres and languages on the OTT platform. 

     

    With a content library of over 30,000 hours, HOOQ will now distribute Shemaroo’s library that includes a mix of classics to super hit films, TV serials and fitness videos. The content catalogue includes titles like Hunterrr, The Dirty Picture, Ishqiya, Don, Kaalia, Khuda Gawah, Mughal-E-Azam, Nukkad, Shilpa’s Yoga and Bipasha’s Fit & Fabulous amongst others.

     

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Jai Maroo said, “We are excited to partner with HOOQ for Indian content. With increasing number of devices and its users, the consumption of content on these platforms will certainly see an upward swing.     Singtel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros launched HOOQ in India earlier this year and has also inked deals with the likes of Yash Raj Films amongst others.

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has acquired the exclusive television distribution rights to Red Chillies Entertainment’s film library.

     

    The deal includes a dozen blockbuster films of Shah Rukh Khan namely Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Chalte Chalte, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Asokaamong others.

     

    Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada said, “We are excited to join hands with Red Chillies to distribute its content on TV platform.  This is just the beginning of a synergic relationship with them and we hope to go a long way ahead.     BENGALURU: Shemaroo Entertainment has its maiden annual numbersafter listing in September 2014. The company has reported 50.7 per cent growth in profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 40.92 crore (12.7 per cent of Total Income from Operations or TIO) as compared to the Rs 27.16 crore (10.3 per cent of TIO) in FY-2014.
