    BARC week 48: Colors regains second spot on pay platform

    MUMBAI: Sony Sab has slipped down to third spot on pay platform in week 48 (Saturday 28 November 2020 to Friday 4 November 2020) of Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) data. Colors has secured second position on both pay platform and urban market. Dangal has climbed up to the eight spot on pay platform.

    In week 48 of BARC India ratings, the top ten channels on pay platform were Star Plus, Colors,Sony Sab,  Zee TV, Sony Entertainment Television, Star Utsav, Sony Pal, Dangal, Star Bharat, and ColorsRishtey.

    Urban Market


     
    In the urban market, the top ten channels were Star Plus,Colors,Sony Sab, Star Utsav, Sony Entertainment Television, Zee TV,  Sony Pal,  ColorsRistey, Dangal and Star Bharat in week 48 of BARC India ratings.

    Rural Market


     
    Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Sony Pal, ColorsRishtey, Dangal, Star Plus, Zee TV, Sony Sab, Colors and Big Magic were the top ten channels in the rural market in week 48 of BARC India ratings.

    Free Platform


     
    On the free platform, Star Utsav, Zee Anmol,Sony Pal, ColorsRishtey, Dangal, Big Magic, Shemaroo TV, DD National, DD Retro and DD Uttar Pradesh were the top ten channels in week 48 of BARC India ratings.

    Rakesh Jain joins Sony Pictures Networks India as creative director

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India has recently appointed Rakesh Jain as creative director. He joined the company in July 2020. Recently, he was one of the key people in launching FTA GEC Shemaroo TV during the pandemic.

    He comes with over 18 years of experience in the media space where he has led the programming teams from the inception stage and has launched two successful Hindi GECs. He has also been instrumental in creating channel driver properties for Star group, Zee group, and Turner group from the broadcasting ecosystem. Jain worked as a vertical head for the commissioning team of one of the flagship channels of ZEE Network (&TV), he was responsible for shaping the content strategy of the channel. His main task was to identify the viewing needs of consumers and shaping stories and content to meet their expectations.

    Jain comes with a great experience of launching GEC channels. He earlier served as associate vice-president in &TV, and helmed the team of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain at the time of its inception. Jain was responsible for revamp of a GEC Channel on STAR network twice.  

    From 2001 to 2007, Jain worked in Star Plus as the executive producer and from 2007 till the day Imagine TV shut down, he held the position of the deputy creative director. Jain, who was in Sameer Nair’s core team during the days of Imagine TV’s inception, has also worked as a creative director for JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia’s Hats Off Productions. He had joined the studio in May   2012 and worked till August 2013

    For the uninitiated Ramayan happened to be his first show on Imagine, and he went on to work with various shows like Jyoti, Chandragupta Maurya, Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhungaa. He also worked on a show called Ganga – a family drama dealing with the prejudice against widows in one of the holiest places in India – Varanasi. Later, he took up the role of editor – vice president at Life OK in 2015.

    Shemaroo TV channel launches with simulcast on Facebook

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has created a new benchmark in the television space by simulcasting content of its flagship Hindi GEC, Shemaroo TV, on Facebook. For the first time in history, an Indian television channel has run concurrently live (stream), online. The service was officially launched on 1 May 2020 at 6:00 am and the viewers can enjoy the live telecast on Facebook.

    Facebook users will have access to live content aired on Shemaroo TV for one week on Shemaroo TV Facebook page. Simulcast on Facebook will allow Shemaroo Entertainment to reach a varied set of audience and showcase its channel content offering across various geographies of India

    Staying true to its brand philosophy of 'Badalte Aaj Ke Liye', Shemaroo TV provides family entertainment that has a blend of Indianness but with a modern feel to it. In the first week of the launch, Shemaroo TV will be airing the mythological series – Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, Jai Bajrangbali, Mata Ki Chowki, followed by a daily dose of drama with Dil Se Dua Saubhagyavatibhava, and iconic sitcom of the 90's Zabaan Sambhalke. Moreover, the prime time will see romantic, family-drama shows and horror series such as, Geet Hui Se Parayi, Sshh Koi Hai, to name a few. The channel also has six hours of fresh content along with famous Hindi movies that will be showcased on weekends.
