    MUMBAI: The Film and Television Producers Guild of India has announced the 11 edition of the Renault Sony Guild Film Awards. The Guild constitutes of the most influential luminaries in cinema who select winners, making it one of the most credible and much revered accolades. The extravaganza will unfold with New Year Celebrations in January and will be broadcast exclusively on Sony Entertainment Television.

     

    Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor, Ayushmann Khuranna, Kriti Sanon and Sonakshi Sinha feature among other star performers who will set the stage on fire with one incredible act after another.     Salman tops the chart for being most savvy on digital media

    MUMBAI: Salman Khan emerged as the most digital savvy celebrity with an overall score of 16.1, according to TO THE NEW Digital Celebrity Index for the month of September. Khan ranked as number one while Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan ranked at number two and three scoring 14.6 and 14.5 respectively.

    As per the TO THE NEW Digital data, Priyanka Chopra has emerged as the most active celebrity in social media, on the basis of highest number of posts on all the platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Chopra topped the chart with a total of 531 posts. Amitabh Bachchan is the second most active celebrity after Chopra with a total of 168 posts.

    On Facebook, Chopra had 75 posts during the month of September whereas Bachchan was close second with 71 posts during the same month. Female celebrities are more active when it comes to Instagram as compared to males. On Instagram, Chopra has total number of 66 posts. Sonam Kapoor was the second most active celebrity with a total of 45 posts.

    Chopra had 704 tweets, most of which were about her American TV show Quantico, which was launched on 27th Sep. Amitabh Bachchan grabbed the second spot in the list with a total of 140 tweets which were more generic in nature.

    Madhuri Dixit emerged as the most engaging celebrity on the basis of highest number of netizens she had engaged with on all platforms including likes, comments and shares on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The posts made by Dixit were found to be most engaging among all the celebrities with a score of 11.8 M. Shahid Kapoor remained the second most engaging celebrity with a total engagement of 1.0 M.  Shahrukh Khan was the most engaging celebrity with a total engagement of 694,913 for the month of September.  Most of the tweets made by Shahrukh Khan were generic in nature where 32 per cent of his total tweets were re-tweets.  

    Madhuri Dixit received the highest engagement ratio of 47 per cent with 25.1M of total fans. Shahrukh ranked at number two with 38 percent of engagement ratio with 18.2M of total fans. Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor ranked at number three, four and five with 34 per cent of engagement ratio with 9.6 M, 3.2M and 1.6 M of total fans. .

    Deepika Padukone has the highest reach across social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) with total of 39.8 M fans. It was also observed that despite very high number of posts, Priyanka Chopra could not gather many fans and ended up securing only fifth position among all the celebrities with total fan base of 31.7 M fans on all the social media platforms combined. Padukone had the highest number of Facebook fans among all the celebrities that was close to 27.6 M while Salman khan was close second with a total of 27.1 M fans and Amitabh Bachchan was close to 21.9 M of fans and ranked at number three. Padukone also topped the fan base on Instagram with 3.7M fans. Alia Bhatt was a close second with a total of 3.5 M fans.  Priyanka Chopra secured third position with 3.4 M.

    It was noticed that male celebrities had higher number of fans as compared to female celebrities when it comes to Twitter.  Unlike Facebook or Instagram, Amitabh Bachchan has the biggest fan base on Twitter with a close to 17.3 M followers. Shahid Kapoor remained a close second with a total of 15.7 M fans. Even after having the biggest celebrity base on Facebook as well as Instagram, Deepika Padukone could only secure 4th place with respect to the fan base on Twitter.

    Salman Khan came up as the most searched celebrity by netizens on Google with a total of 4.5 M searches during the month of September. That also overlapped the other celebrities in a big way, since the second most searched celebrity, Paukone could only secure 2.5 M searches for the same duration. Anushka Sharma bagged third position with 2.4M searches, Shahrukh Khan secured fourth spot with 2.3 M and Akshay Kumar grabbed fifth place with 1.5 M searches.

    Box Office: ‘Shaandaar’ collects Rs 30.8 crore in opening weekend

    MUMBAI: The Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Shaandaar fails to find the approval of moviegoers. The film, an attempt to blend comic book approach with a fairytale setting, seems to take the audience and its intelligence for granted and meets with ready rejection.

     

    Opening on Thursday to cash in on the major National holiday of Dussehra and enjoying the solo release status, its opening day collections of around Rs 11 crore leave much to be desired. The first day audience’s disappointment reflected at the box office on Friday as the collections dropped by over 30 per cent showing further decline on Saturday and Sunday to end its four day opening weekend with figures of Rs 30.8 crore.  

     

    Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 was lapped up by the youth it being a romantic comedy catering to the young lot. That the film enjoyed certain brand equity because of earlier film, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which was a reasonable success, also helped the sequel. Despite the film following a similar theme and gags as the previous version, the film did not fail to entertain. After a strong opening weekend of Rs 20.8 crore, the film held steady through the week to end its first week with figures of Rs 37.8 crore. 

     

    The film will enjoy a lucrative second week as it enjoys a favourable word of mouth while also benefiting from poor opposition from the new release of the week, Shaandaar.

     

    Wedding Pullav faces total rejection. The film manages to collect a poor Rs 50 lakh for its first week.

     

    Other minor films, released without any promotion, go unnoticed. The films are: Chinar Daastaan-E-IshqBumper DrawHogaya Dimaagh Ka DahiPrivate Teacher and Jaatiwad.

     

    Jazbaa drops to about 10 per cent of its first week figures, which in itself was poor. The film adds Rs 3.1 crore in its second week to take its two week total to Rs 23.7 crore.

     

    Singh Is Bliing collects Rs 1.3 crore in its third week taking its three week total to Rs 73.95 crore.

     

    Talvar remains strong despite new releases. It braves all oppositions. On a strong public appreciation, the film returns impressive figures in its third week. It adds Rs 3.55 crore to take its three week tally to Rs 29.55 crore.

    MUMBAI: Colors popular dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa has always given popular stars a platform to debut on TV as a judge. Madhuri Dixit being the biggest example, who was a part of the Jhalak panel for three years.

     

    To focus on other projects, Dixit has decided to take a break from the show this year. Replacing her will be critically acclaimed actor and dancer, Shahid Kapoor as a judge on the show.

     

    Kapoor will take viewers on a whirlwind journey of his dance roots that have been instrumental in catapulting his acting career as well.

     

    Colors CEO Raj Nayak believes that television has become the primary choice of engagement for the film industry with its reach and direct audience connect making it centre stage for mainstream popular entertainment.

    Queen bagged awards for best film, best performance by Ranaut, and best story by Vikas Bahl, Chaitally Parmar & Parvez Shaikh.Haider was a winner for best performance by Kapoor, best performance for a negative role for Kay Kay Menon, and best supporting actress Tabu.

     

    Heropanti, which introduced Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger Shroff won two awards: one for best male debut by the junior Shroff and the best debut female for Kirti Sanon.

     

    Another film, which won two awards was Ek Villain: for the song ‘Galliyan’ by Ankit Tiwari and for male supporting actor Riteish Deshmukh.

     

    Umang Kumar won the best direction for Mary Kom though many had hoped lead Priyanka Chopra may win the best actress award.

     

    Contrary to expectations, Aamir Khan’s PK won just one award: for its director Rajkumar Hirani.

     

    The other winners were: Best debut direction: Sajid Nadiadwsla for Kick; Best music direction: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for 2 States; Best playback singer- female: Kanika Kapoor for Baby Doll (Ragini MMS2); Best performance in a comic role: Varun Dhavan forMain Tera Hero; and Best regional film: Lai Bhaari.

     

    Eminent film-maker Subhash Ghai was awarded for his Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema. “So many emotions I am going through, so many memories. That is why you fall, then rise, then rise again. Thank you, IIFA,” he said.

     

    Deepika Padukone won an award for IIFA Woman of the Year and Ranveer Singh recited a poem for her.

     

    The S Cross IIFA Awards was held at the Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For the first time ever, Bollywood’s hilarious duo- the talented actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor played host to the awards ceremony. The twosome won over audiences and industry members alike, leaving those present in splits with their witty quips, perfect comic timing and laudable on-stage camaraderie.

     

    Their opening performance was a medley of iconic Jodi songs – Mein Khiladi Tu Anaari, Dola Re Dola, Mere Do Anmol Ratan where the two donned outlandish costumes keeping the audience in tears of laughter. They were joined on stage by Rakhi Sawant, who took the entertainment quotient to another level.

     

    Bollywood’s ace dancers Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor stunned audiences with their performances and dance moves. More highlights of the night were Sonakshi Sinha, who who stole the show with her singing act, Parineeti Chopra’s mesmerising performance on Pareshaan, Baby Doll, Lovely and Drama Queen and Shraddha Kapoor’s act on Khalnayak Hu Mein, Choli Ke Piche Kya Hai and Om Shanti Om – a tribute to Subhash Ghai. Anushka Sharma gave a spell-binding performance on songs from her film Bombay Velvet.

     

    For the first time, S Cross IIFA Awards will be broadcast globally on Colors.
