    TV ad volumes increase by 11 per cent YoY in September

    Mumbai: TV ad volumes increased by 11 per cent in September year-on-year (YoY), according to data provided by TAM Media Research. The month saw eight per cent growth in categories, 18 per cent growth in advertisers and 15 per cent growth in brands, the data revealed.

    Ad volumes on TV grew in every week of September 2021 over the same weeks in September 2020; the highest growth of 14 per cent was seen in the first week of September 2021.

    Out of 370 categories on TV, the top categories that advertised in September were milk beverages (four per cent), followed by e-commerce/media/entertainment/social media (four per cent), toilet soap (three per cent), toothpaste (three per cent) and shampoo (three per cent). The top 10 categories contributed 31 per cent share of ad volumes on TV.

    During the month, 190+ categories increased ad volumes on TV versus the same period last year. Milk beverages category advertising increased by 74 per cent and e-commerce online shopping advertising increased by 2.5 times.

    The top five advertisers on TV included Hindustan Unilever Ltd (14 per cent), Reckitt Benckiser (10 per cent), Brooke Bond Lipton India (three per cent), Cadbury India (three per cent), and Amazon Online India (two per cent). HUL and RB were top advertisers for both September 2021 and September 2020. The top ten advertisers contributed 39 per cent share of ad volumes.

    Horlicks, Amazon India, Dettol, Lizol, Disney+ Hotstar, Harpic, and Clinic Plus Shampoo were some of the top brands advertised on TV. More than 3900 brands appeared on TV during the month, said the data.

    There were more than 50 categories that were visible in September 2021 but not in the comparative period last year. Some of the top categories include eyewear lenses, adhesives, childcare products, mouth wash, and frozen foods. The top exclusive advertisers were Lux Industries, Google, Parle Biscuits, BPL, and Travelxp India.  The top exclusive brands were Dettol, Airtel Black, Moov Pain Balm, Lux Cozi, and Reliance Digital.

    Disney Plus to premiere Star Wars: Visions on 22 September

    New Delhi: Streaming platform Disney Plus is all set to premiere its new anime anthology series Star Wars: Visions on 22 September. The platform and Lucasfilm unveiled the first look of the much-anticipated anime series on Sunday.

    The OTT platform also announced the names of the seven Japanese anime studios that are behind the nine short films in the series during the Anime Expo Lite event. The studios are Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production IG.

    According to Variety, each anime studio will use their signature animation and storytelling styles to deliver their visions of George Lucas’ Star Wars universe.

    “From the beginning, stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have counted Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa among their many influences, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the unique animation style and perspective of each anime studio,” stated Disney Plus in a press release.

    Jacqui Lopez, James Waugh, and Josh Rimes of Lucasfilm are executive producing the show along with Qubic Pictures’ Justin Leach. Kanako Shirasaki is producing.

    Apart from the names of each studio and episode, Disney Plus also gave fans a sneak peek into the creation of `Star Wars: Visions` with a three-minute teaser video shared on YouTube.

    MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms and Star Plus are all set to launch a new fiction show set in the steel city of Jamshedpur. The show called Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan will go on air from 28 September and will be telecast from Monday – Saturday at 8.30 pm.

     

    The love story builds on the fact that if it’s not mad, extra ordinary and passionate love, then it’s not love at all. Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan is the coming of an age story of three friends – Koyal, Raj and Madhavan, each different from the other yet connected by the bond of friendship.

     

    The show is set in Jamshedpur, exploring the colour and life style of a small town, where almost everyone works in the same steel industry and lives a simple, routine life. Jamshedpur and the steel factory culture will bring a unique colour to the show, as it explores the story of three families, one Bengali, one Punjabi and one South Indian, all related to each other through their place of work and profession.

     

    Kuch Toh Hai Tere Mere Darmiyaan stars Shritama Mukherjee as the protagonist playing the role of Koyal. She will be paired opposite two lead actors, Vibhav Roy and Gautam Gupta playing the role of Raj and Madhvan respectively.

    The launches will include two fiction shows Raavi, Maahi Sagar and a comedy show titled Nadaaniyaan. Each of the shows have been designed on the basis of audience penchants while offering advertisers multiple opportunities to engage with audiences.

    MUMBAI: Comedy Central is best known to deliver acclaimed comedy content to its viewers consistently, month after month and it is now all geared up to introduce four of the most hilarious shows as part of its primetime line-up this month.

     

    Starting 9 September 2013, the show that premieres on air is Parks and Recreation, followed by the 16 September premiere of Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza place, Yes, Dear and Underemployed.
