    Inspirational Indians Felicitated at SENIOR CITIZEN AWARDS

    MUMBAI: In a first-of-a-kind initiative, CNN-IBN, in partnership with Paranjape Schemes Construction Limited, honoured 12 unsung senior citizens of India at the Senior Citizen Awards – The Unstoppables. At a glittering awards ceremony held at Taj Land’s End Hotel in Mumbai, Chief Guest Amitabh Bachchan felicitated the winners for their brave and inspirational endeavours.

    These special awardees, well past their retirement age, have been working tirelessly to improve the lives of people around them, thereby making themselves valuable partners in India’s progress. The recipients of this award were as follows:

    The Senior Citizen Awards – The Unstoppables adhered to a process of selection which had the CNN-IBN Editorial Board at its core.
    Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN-Lokmat, shares his views about the awards, saying, “We are proud to bestow this honour on our senior citizens who work at the grassroots to uplift our society without looking for any kind of recognition in return. These citizens have withstood the odds of age and have zealously taken it upon themselves to pave way for a better future for the generations to come.”

    MUMBAI: CNN-IBN, in partnership with Paranjape Schemes Construction Limited, brings you the first edition of Senior Citizen Awards – The Unstoppables. This weekend on the fourth episode of Senior Citizen Awards, we showcase inspirational stories of Anjina Rajagopal, who runs a home for abandoned and orphaned children in NCR; Shantuben Patel, a paediatrician who set up the Dhanvantri School to help mentally and physically challenged children in Bhuj; Sindhutai Sapkal, who runs five ashrams for abandoned Adivasi children across Pune and Wardha districts; and Padma Shri Tulasi Munda, an illiterate tribal girl who started an education revolution with an evening school for Adivasi children.

This weekend, we showcase inspirational stories of Joyce Siromani, who counsels and treats mentally ill women at his half-way home in Kolkata; Hirabai Ben Lobi, a tribal of the Siddi community who is working towards changing the social starta of her tribe; H S D’Lima, who has been braving threats to his life while fighting against illegal construction in the Andheri West neighbourhood of Mumbai; and Manilal Dand, a former businessman who now runs a library for the underprivileged children of Mazgaon, Mumbai.

    MUMBAI: CNN-IBN, in partnership with Paranjape Schemes Construction Limited announces the first edition of Senior Citizen Awards – The Unstoppables, to acknowledge the indomitable spirit of the senior citizens who have made a significant contribution to society. The second episode of Senior Citizen Awards features the inspirational stories of Keepu Tsering, who has pledged to save her community from extinction by ensuring that she gives children of the Lepcha community in Sikkim a good education, hope and confidence to achieve greater heights; Merzaban Patel, a 63-year-old hockey coach who has trained Olympians and now dreams of building an academy where players can be trained professionally; Girish Bhardwaj, who started a social movement to connect people from different villages by constructing low-cost suspension bridges; and Chandrashekhar Sankuratri, who after losing his wife and kids in a tragic plane crash, started a school and later an eye hospital for the underprivileged in his village in Andhra Pradesh.

    MUMBAI: CNN-IBN, in partnership with Paranjape Schemes Construction Limited announces the first edition of Senior Citizen Awards to recognize and honour the elderly who have made a notable contribution to the society. The first episode will introduce the idea behind the awards and emphasise on the issues which come with old age, threats which we as a society pose to our senior citizens and what inspires them to serve the society unconditionally even after retirement. On the show, esteemed personalities such as former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, image guru Dilip Cherian, known RTI activist Commodore Lokesh Batra, and Paranjape Schemes Managing Director Shashank Paranjape will come together to discuss the importance of our elderly generation.
