    Scarecrow Communications bags Quikr account

    MUMBAI: Quikr has appointed Scarecrow Communications as its advertising solutions agency.

    The account was awarded to Scarecrow following a multi-agency pitch.

    Quikr (www.quikr.com) is a digital classifieds company that helps address day-to-day regular needs of consumers in a simple and easy way.

    “Quikr, the leader in horizontal classifieds offers a web and mobile based classifieds platform that addresses a wide variety of local needs in 40 cities across India. More than 12 million consumers visit Quikr every month to sell, buy, rent or find things ranging from laptops to mobile phones to cars to furniture to real estate to jobs, and everything in between,” said an official statement.
     
    The company is backed by Matrix Partners India, Omidyar Network, Norwest Venture Partners, Nokia Growth Partners and invested in by eBay Inc.

    Said Quikr co-founder and VP marketing Jiby Thomas, “We are at this exciting stage of being a young brand, a business which is growing very fast and a market leader in horizontal classifieds.     Scarecrow will handle all aspects of Quikr‘s communication including creative, strategy, design and activation.

The potential is huge and so are the challenges. In this scenario its a great opportunity for us to partner a leader like Quikr.     Scarecrow has clients like BPCL, Religare, Future Capital, Rupa and Nestle.

    MUMBAI: MVL Mobiles has appointed Scarecrow Communications as its communication consultant for upcoming products across India.

    Dentsu Marcom was the incumbent agency on the account that was handed over to the agency following a multi-agency pitch.

    The pitch also involved agencies such as WPP’s Contract Advertising and an independent brand communications, Law & Kenneth.

    MVL Mobiles foray into the mobile handset market need to be backed-up by an inclusive creative strategy and Scarecrow with its creative thoughts and ideas will further consolidate the company’s brand positioning.

    Scarecrow Communications founder director Raghu Bhat, “We are visibly thrilled to partner MVL Mobiles. In our interactions with the management, we have seen zero-tolerance for run-of-the-mill thinking and a determination to create genuine differentiation, at every level. This is very energising for any creative person.”

    MVL Mobiles director Arjun Rishi confirmed the news. MVL Group’s MVL Telecom launched mobile handsets under the brand name ‘MVL Mobiles‘ in June 2010.
    Founder director Arunava Sengupta said that mobile handset business is one of the most exciting and rapidly growing categories in India. “A brand in this category needs to be relevant to a wide audience set and that gives us tremendous opportunity to do some exciting consumer work leading to some path breaking communication”, he added.

    Kapil Tammal joins Scarecrow Communications as creative director

    MUMBAI: Scarecrow Communications has roped in Kapil Tammal as its creative director.

    Prior to this, Tammal was with McCann Erickson Mumbai serving as creative director (art).

    Scarecrow Communications founder director Manish Bhatt told Indiantelevision, “I had worked very closely with Kapil during my stint at McCann Erickson. His talent is a right mix of ideas and design. Apart from winning multiple international/national awards like Abbys, Cannes, Adfests and spikes, he was second runner up in Young Spikes 2008.”

    In his work experience spanning over 10 years, Tammal has worked for nearly seven years at McCann Erickson India, McCann Worldgroup and McCann Erickson Mumbai.

    Tammal started his career with Concept Communication as a visualiser in 2001 where he worked for more than two years, before moving to Triton Communications as an art director and then to Umbrella Design Mumbai as senior art director. He worked for seven months at both the agencies.

    At McCann Worldgroup, Tammal has worked with various clients including Vaseline, Pears, Liril (Unilevers), Maybelline (L’Oreal), Hanes, Wonderbra (Sara Lee), The Economic Times, Onida, Siemens, Britannia, Nerolac, NDTV, Cathay Pacific, Neo Cricket/Sports, Indian Oil Corporation, SBI, UTI, HDFC, Artha Money and Tata Indicom.
