    BARC week 10: Regional TV: Leaders status quo unchanged, Alankar exits Prarthana enters Oriya GEC list

    MUMBAI: With no major changes in ranking orders, leaders of regional channels continued dominating their respective region in week 10 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data. Alankar exited the Oriya general entertainment channel (GEC) list, while Prarthana entered the top five channels list. 

    Bangla GECs

    Star Jalsha continued to be the numero uno channel in the Bangla GEC space with 222379 (‘000s). Zee Bangla retained the second berth with 147368 (‘000s) followed by Jalsha Movies in the third position with 64376 (‘000s). Zee Bangla Cinema was in the fourth slot with 33548 (‘000s) while Colors Bangla stood at number five with 32863(‘000s). 

    Bhojpuri GECs 

    With an increase in ratings, Big Ganga continued at the pole position with 21571 (‘000s) against 19226 (‘000s) in previous the week. Bhojpuri Cinema retained second berth with 11796 (‘000s) followed by Dangal TV at third position with 7924 (‘000s) while  Dabangg fell to  number four with 7477 (‘000s) . Oscar Movies Bhojpuri bagged fifth position with 2402 (‘000s). 

    Kannada GECs

    Colors Kannada retained the top position with 279049 (‘000s) followed by Suvarna at number two with 201153 (‘000s). Zee Kannada bagged third spot with 149027 (‘000s), while Udaya Movies was at fourth berth with 134729 (‘000s) followed by Udaya TV at fifth spot with 133376 (‘000s).

    Malayalam GECs

    Asianet continued to dominate the first position with 304181 (‘000s). Mazhavil Manorama retained second position with 86761 (‘000s) . Flowers TV bagged third position with 71764 (‘000s) pushing down Surya TV to fourth position with 62969  (‘000s). Asianet Movies maintained its fifth position with 56269 (‘000s). 

    Marathi GECs

    Zee Marathi also remained at the top with 146713 (‘000s) followed by Colors Marathi in second position with 107053 (‘000s). Zee Talkies retained third position with 70868 (‘000s), while Star Pravah grabbed fourth slot with 40848 (‘000s) and  Fakt Marathi at fifth position with 30647(‘000s)

    Oriya GECs 

    Sarthak TV retained its position on the top with a sharp rise in its rating to 97452 (‘000s). Tarang TV retained second berth with 50064 (‘000s). Odisha TV garnered third position with 16447 (‘000s) followed by Colors Oriya at fourth position with 15923 (‘000s) and  Prathana at fifth position with 8050 (‘000s).

    Tamil GECs 

    Sun TV continued to be in the top most position in the Tamil GEC space with 932750 (‘000s) followed by KTV at second position with 248390 (‘000s), whereas Star Vijay continued to hold third position with 183536 (‘000s). Zee Tamil  with 79540 (‘000s) stood at number four while J Movies maintained it fifth position with 75100(‘000s). 

    Telugu GECs 

    ETV Telugu continued to be the leader in Telugu GEC space with 449647 (‘000s) followed by Zee Telugu at second position with 408059 (‘000s), while Maa TV retained the third berth with 386333 (‘000s) and Gemini TV continued to hold fourth position with 327406 (‘000s). Gemini Movies,  retained its fifth position with 200401 (‘000s) against 174603 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: While there were not many changes in the regional channels space in week 5, the prominent gainer was Big Ganga, which climbed up to the first spot in the Bhojpuri channels’ space.

     

    Additionally, there was also a new entrant each in the Oriya and Tamil language regional channels Top 5 list in week 5 of BARC ratings in Alankar and J Movie respectively.

     

    Regional channel leaders in the Bangla, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu space continued to maintain a stranglehold on the top slot.

     

    Bangla GECs

     

    Star Jalsa retained the top position with 243019 (‘000s) followed by Zee Bangla in the second place with 138047 (‘000s). Jalsa Movies held on to its third position with 69803 (‘000s). Zee Bangla Cinema with 34628 (‘000s) climbed up one place to perch at the fourth spot, while Colors Bangla dropped one place to take the fifth place with 31471 (‘000s) in week 5 of BARC data in West Bengal (U+R): NCCS All : 4+ Individuals.

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    Even as it witnessed a fall in ratings, Big Ganga climbed up to the top position in week 5 with 10365 (‘000s). On the other hand, Bhojpuri Cinema forfeited its leadership slot and dropped down to the second place with a considerable drop in ratings at 9727 (‘000s) as compared to 17459 (‘000s) in week 4.

     

    Dabangg retained its third place but yet again with a drop in ratings at 5707 (‘000s). Dangal TV too saw a drop in ratings but maintained its fourth place with 4613. ETV Bihar Jharkhand too held its fifth spot with 2591 (‘000s) in the Bihar (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals according to BARC India.

     

    Kannada GECs

     

    Colors Kanada stood firm in the first spot even in week 5 with a drop in ratings at 261277 (‘000s). Zee Kannada in the second spot witnessed a rise in ratings with 159937 (‘000s) as compared to 145618 (‘000s) in week 4. Udaya Movies pipped Suvarna to claim the third spot in week 5 with 159785 (‘000s). On the other hand, Suvarna dropped to the fourth slot with 139413 (‘000s). Udaya TV maintained its place in the fifth position with 111309 (‘000s) in Karnataka (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals.

     

    Malayalam GECs

     

    Asianet continued to hold the top slot with 330282 (‘000s) followed by Mazhavil Manorama with 97830 (‘000s) in the second place. Flowers TV maintained its place at number three with 88167 (‘000s). Asianet Movies with with 50598 (‘000s) climbed up one place to stand at number four, while Surya TV dropped one place at number five with 49294 (‘000s) in the Kerala (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals market in week 5.

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    With no change in the Top 5 channels’ pecking order in the Marathi genre, Zee Marathi retained its numero uno position with 152180 (‘000s). Following it was Colors Marathi with 96885 (‘000s), whereas Zee Talkies maintained its place in the third spot with 63998 (‘000s). Star Pravah in the fourth slot was with 50095 (‘000s), whereas Maiboli stood in the fifth slot with 20489 (‘000s) in the Maharashtra / Goa (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals market.

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV maintained its place on top with 105782 (‘000s) and was followed by Tarang TV with 23447 (‘000s) in the second spot. Colors Oriya was in the third position with 23447 (‘000s), whereas Odisha TV retained its fourth position with 15420 (‘000s). Prarthana bowed out of the Top 5 list, paving the way for Alankar, which made an entry in week 5 at the fifth spot with 8948 (‘000s) in the Odisha (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals market.

     

    Tamil GECs

     

    Sun TV remained the undisputed leader in the Tamil space with a spike in ratings at 962670 (‘000s). KTV was at number two with 280055 (‘000s) whereas Star Vijay continued to hold its third spot with 196249 (‘000s). Polimer climbed up one place to take the fourth place with 80166 (‘000s), whereas a new channel J Movie with 79722 (‘000s) made its presence felt in the fifth place. In week 5, Zee Tamil, which was in the fourth position last week, dropped out of the charts in the Tamil Nadu/ Puducherry (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals market.

     

    Telugu GECs

     

    The Telugu genre too saw no change in the pecking order from last week. ETV Telugu continued to lead the genre with 426874 (‘000s) followed by Zee Telugu with 370362 (‘000s). Maa TV was in third spot with 364618 (‘000s), whereas Gemini TV retained its place in the fourth rung with 268420 (‘000s). Gemini Movies with 194587 (‘000s) stood in the fifth position in week 5 in the Andhra Pradesh – Telangana (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals market.

    MUMBAI: Regional channels continued to hold their leadership position in their respective genres in week 51 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India ratings.

    Star Jalsha maintained its top slot and led the Bangla genre, while in Bhojpuri GECs, Bhojpuri Cinema continued to lead the chart.

    Colors Kannada, Asianet, Zee Marathi, Sarthak TV, Sun TV and Maa TV too continued to lead their respective genres in week 51.

    Bangla GECs

    Star Jalsha led the genre with 267162 (000Sums) followed by Zee Bangla in the second spot with 165155 (000Sums) and Jalsha Movies in the third spot with 79535 (000Sums). Zee Bangla Cinema and Colors Bangla grabbed the fourth and fifth slot with 35241 (Sums) and 31634 (000Sums) respectively.

    Bhojpuri GECs

    In the Bhojpuri GECs section, Bhojpuri Cinema continued to lead the genre with 15820 (000Sums) followed by Big Magic Ganga on second spot with 12279 (000Sums) and Dabangg in the third spot with 6809 (000Sums).

    Dangal TV stood in the fourth position with 6579 (000Sums) and ETV Bihar Jharkhand was in the fifth place with 2740 (000Sums).

    Kannada GECs

    Colors Kannada continued to lead the Kannada GECs genre and was in the first position with 268806 (000Sums) followed by Udaya Movies in the second slot with 141118 (000Sums). On the other hand, Udaya TV stood in the third position with 140356 (000Sums).

    Zee Kannada bagged the fourth position with 136734 (000Sums) and Suvarna stood at number five with 132432 (000Sums).

    Malayalam GECs

    Asianet led the genre and came out on top with 273833 (000Sums) followed by Mazhavil Manorama in the second position with 158167 (000Sums) and Surya in the third spot with 114628 (000Sums). Flower TV grabbed the fourth spot with 87234 (000Sums) and Kiran TV stood at the fifth position with 52646 (000Sums).

    Marathi GECs

    In week 51, Zee Marathi maintained its top position with 152099 (000Sums). Zee Talkies grabbed the second slot with 82426 (000Sums) and Colors Marathi stood at number three with 77862 (000Sums). Star Pravah garnered the fourth slot with 34825 (000Sums) and Maiboli was at number five with 24315 (000Sums).

    Oriya GECs

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position in the genre with 111015 (000Sums) followed by Tarang TV in the second spot with 70120 (000Sums), while Colors Oriya came third with 18725 (000Sums). Odisha TV with 14823 (000Sums) and Alankar with 10579 (000Sums) grabbed fourth and fifth berth respectively.

    Tamil GECs

    Sun TV continued to lead the Tamil regional channel genre with 1042599 (000Sums) followed by KTV with 325553 (000Sums) in the second spot. Star Vijay with 214321 (000Sums) stood in the third position. Polimer grabbed the fourth spot with 107967 (000Sums), whereas Kalaignar TV with 84670 (000Sums) grabbed the fifth spot.

    Telugu GECs

    Maa TV in the Telugu GECs genre grabbed the first spot with 384977 (000Sums) and was followed by ETV Telugu in second spot with 384816 (000Sums). Zee Telugu trailed behind with 314851 (000Sums) in the third position. Gemini TV with 307265 (000Sums) and Gemini Movies with 196697 (000Sums) bagged the fourth and fifth place respectively.

    MUMBAI: Star India’s regional channel Star Jalsha maintained its numero uno position in the Bangla regional genre, whereas amongst Bhojpuri regional channels Bhojpuri Cinema secured the leadership position.

     

    Colors Kannada led the Kannada regional channels genre, while Asianet bagged the first spot in the Malayalam regional channels genre.

     

    On the other hand, Zee Marathi continued to lead the genre, while ETV Telugu and Sarthak TV continued to dominate their respective genres in week 49 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U + R) data.

     

    Bangla GECs

     

    Star Jalsha continued to lead the genre and secured the first position with 228859 (000Sums) followed by Zee Bangla in the second berth with 162105 (000Sums) and Jalsha Movies on the third spot with 68361 (000 Sums). Colors Bangla with 37549 (000Sums) and Zee Bangla Cinema with 31155 (000Sums) bagged the fourth and fifth places respectively.

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    Bhojpuri Cinema led the Bhojpuri genre with 20488 (000Sums) followed by Big Magic Ganga in the second spot with 17196 (000Sums), whereas Dangal TV was perched on the third spot with 9517 (000Sums). Dabangg with 5728 (000Sums) and ETV Bihar Jharkhand with 3201 (000Sums) were placed at the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

    Colors Kannada continued to lead the genre and took its place in the first position with 302974 (000Sums) followed by Suvarna in the second spot with 1541271 (000Sums) and Udaya Movies in the third berth with 130501 (000Sums). Zee Kannada grabbed the fourth place with 125042 (000Sums) while Udaya TV bagged the fifth place with 118442 (000Sums).

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    Zee Marathi continued to lead the genre with 145301 (000Sums) followed by Colors Marathi in the second place with 80690 (000Sums) with Zee Talkies placed in the third position with 57811 (000Sums). Star Pravah with 41435 (000Sums) and DD Sahyadri with 19008 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth slots respectively.

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position in the genre with 113465 (000Sums) followed by Tarang TV in the second spot with 58075 (000Sums) and Colors Oriya in the third place with 20289 (000Sums). Odisha TV with 15850(000Sums) and Prarthana with 12351 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth berths respectively.

     

    Telugu GECs

     

    ETV Telugu secured the leadership position with 420239 (000Sums) followed by Zee Telugu in the second spot with 340131 (000Sums), while Maa TV was on the third spot with 339978 (000Sums). On the other hand, Gemini TV with 255875 (000Sums) and Gemini Movies with 180736 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth berths respectively.

     

    Malayalam GECs

     

    In week 49, Asianet continued to lead the genre with 376542 (000Sums) followed by Mazhavil Manorama in the second place with 99395 (000Sums) and Surya TV was placed third with 80013 (000Sums). Flowers TV with 68404 (000Sums) and Asianet Movies with 53985 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth slots respectively.

    MUMBAI:  Star India‘s Bangla regional channel Star Jalsha secured the leadership position in the genre, while in the Bhojpuri regional channel genre Bhojpuri Cinema led the chart.  Colors Kannada continues to lead the Kannada regional section.  Zee Marathi led the Marathi channel genre, while in the Oriya and Tamil genres Sarthak TV and Sun TV led the sections respectively in week 46 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U + R) data. 

     

    Bangla GECs

     

    Star Jalsha continues to lead the genre and secured the first position with 234375 (000Sums) followed by Zee Bangla on second berth with 138668 (000Sums) and Jalsha Movies on third berth with 77649 (000 Sums).  Aakaash Aath and Colors Bangla bagged fourth and fifth places with 36600 (000Sums) and 33549 (000Sums) respectively.

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    Bhojpuri Cinema led the Bhojpuri genre with 41361 (000Sums) followed by Big Magic Ganga in second spot with 38455 (000Sums) and Dabangg on third place with 15768 (000Sums). Dangal TV and ETV Bihar Jharkhand were place at the fourth and fifth spots with 9599 (000Sums) and 6326 (000Sums) respectively.

     

    Kannada GECs

     

    Colors Kannada continues to lead the genre and garnered first position with 300188 (000Sums) followed by Udaya Movies in second spot with 156491 (000Sums) and Suvarna on third berth with 139570 (000Sums). Zee Kannada grabbed fourth place with 134709 (000Sums) while Udaya TV bagged fifth place with 114916 (000Sums).

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    Zee Marathi continues to lead the genre with 136053 (000Sums) followed by Colors Marathi in second place with 69438 (000Sums) and Zee Talkies placed third with 67347 (000Sums). Star Pravah and Maiboli grabbed fourth and fifth slot with 51156 (000Sums) and 23360 (000Sums) respectively.

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position in the genre with 94201 (000Sums) followed by Tarang TV on second spot with 62666 (000Sums) and Colors Oriya on third with 21501 (000Sums). Odisha TV and Prarthana grabbed fourth and fifth berth with 18407 (000Sums)and 11993 (000Sums) respectively.

     

    Tamil GECs

     

    Sun TV continues to lead the Tamil regional channel genre with 983740 (000Sums) followed by KTV and Star Vijay on second and third slot with 323638 (000Sums) and 155297 (000Sums) respectively.  Polimer grabbed the fourth spot with 106821 (000Sums) while Adithya TV with 74029 (000Sums) bagged fifth place.

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) has acquired 100 per cent equity stake in Sarthak Entertainment Pvt Ltd which operates Sarthak TV, the Odia language general entertainment channel (GEC). 

     

    The acquisition will be from current shareholders of Sarthak Entertainment, subject to requisite regulatory approvals, as an all-cash deal at a consideration of maximum of Rs 115 crores.

     

    With this, Zeel has entered the rapidly expanding regional market in Odisha. This acquisition further strengthens its already dominant line-up of regional channels.

     

    Sarthak TV would complement Zeel’s regional bouquet of channels viz. Zee Marathi, Zee Talkies, Zee Bangla, Zee Bangla Cinema, Zee Telugu, Zee Kannada and Zee Tamizh.

    KOLKATA: Sarthak TV, from the Odisha-based Sarthak Entertainment Group, has launched a new reality show Dance Queen from 29 January. The show will be aired every Thursday and Friday from 9-10 pm.

     

    “This is an innovative dance reality show for married women irrespective of age. The main motto is to allow housewives to entertain themselves as well the audience including their family members. A married woman whether working or housewife, old or young has dreams within her, perhaps ambitions too and mostly has an unreleased childish energy which perhaps stays suppressed due to societal norms and pressures,” said Sarthak Entertainment Group marketing manager Debi Prasad Padhi.

     

    Now, Sarthak TV gives them a platform for realizing their dreams or aspirations, which they might have had in their early years, said Padhi.

     

    Padhi further claims that it is for the first time in the history of Odisha television industry that such a unique reality show has been launched for the common woman.

     

    “We aim to bring the show on a huge reality show format, which has never before been attempted by any other channel in Odisha and is expected to garner very high TRPs then any other show before,” added Padhi.

     

    When being asked about the event flow, Padhi said that from 25 January, auditions were held at different cities in the state of Odisha like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Rourkela among other locations. “Thousands of participants showcased their talents and entertained our celebrity judges. The event flow will have auditions, mega audition, studio round, semi final, and grand finale,” he said.

     

    The show will have celebrity judges like actress Riya Dey, veteran actor Sritam Das, superstar Bobby Mishra, and dancer and actress Koel Mukherjee. “Their presence will not only ensure high TRPs but assist the participants to hone their dancing skills,” Padhi said.

    Sarthak TV to air ‘Nua Geeta Nua Swara’ starting January

    KOLKATA: Come 2015 and Sarthak TV from the Odisha-based Sarthak Entertainment Group, is all set to launch a reality show, ‘Nua Geeta Nua Swara’ (NGNS), starting 5 January every Monday and Tuesday for one hour.

    “This is a unique televised singing talent hunt where the participants will be performing on a virgin composition which has never been recorded anywhere for any public listening. The concept has not yet been explored by any other channel across the country,” said Sarthak Entertainment Group marketing manager Debi Prasad Padhi.

    For pre-auditions and audition phases, the team of NGNS will travel to different districts of the state to handpick the budding hidden talents of Odisha and groom them to become professionals by the end of the show. “Contestants would be undergoing through the pre-auditions round where their vocal ability and their composition (own/new) will be judged by two affluent persons from the music industry of Ollywood,” informed Padhi.

    Those who successfully cross pre-auditions, will face the three main judges in the audition round and on successful completion of this, the contestant will move to the next level where they will sing with instruments, further explained Padhi.

    For the mega audition, only a few handpicked talents will be given a chance to perform to prove themselves, thus winning the title.

    The show will have close to 40-50 episodes.

    On the unique selling proposition (USP) of the programme, he said, “This show will witness the freshness of the new lyrics, new composition and a new voice.”
     
    Radhakanta Mishra would be the judge and anchor during pre-auditions while the auditions will be judged by music directors Manmath Mishra and Bikash Das.

    Apart from this, renowned Ollywood film personalities, serial stars and famous singers will also appear as guests on the reality programme.

    In four years since its inception, Sarthak TV has launched Odiya mega serials along with reality shows like ‘Rajo Queen’, ‘Gruha Laxmi’ and many more to appeal to the tastes of Odiya viewers.
