    Mumbai: Zeenat Aman recently took the audience on a nostalgic journey at the first edition of Carvaan Live’s Yeh Shaam Mastani. Held at the Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium in Sion, the event was a heartfelt tribute to the golden era of Indian cinema, blending music, nostalgia, and stories that have shaped it.

    Saregama Carvaan has expanded its retro music experience to live performances with Carvaan Live. The launch event, Yeh Shaam Mastani, featured the legendary Zeenat Aman, who shared personal stories and timeless melodies.

    From the moment Zeenat Aman took the stage, the audience was captivated by her anecdotes about iconic films like Manoranjan, Don, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, and Qurbani. She discussed the challenges of portraying her characters and shared insights about working with directors like Raj Kapoor and Feroz Khan, identifying herself as a director’s actor. She also revealed candid moments about her chemistry with co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, along with fun behind-the-scenes stories.

    Zeenat Aman addressed the more challenging aspects of her career, including navigating industry politics while remaining true to herself. The evening was filled with untold stories and the magic that defines her legacy.

    In conversation with RJ Anirudh Chawla, her stories resonated with the audience, who were further entertained by lead singers Pragati Nagpal and Pranav Chandran. The duo performed beloved songs like Chura Liya Hai Tumne and Laila O Laila, supported by a live band. The audience, many of whom grew up with these classics, sang along, making the evening a celebration of Bollywood’s music.

    Speaking about the event, Zeenat Aman shared her heartfelt thoughts, “Being on stage with so much love in the room was truly special. Seeing people connect with songs and stories that have been part of my journey was heartwarming. Thank you to everyone who came out to spend this beautiful evening with me. I hope to connect with more people as the show goes to Delhi & Jaipur later this month.”

    Mumbai: Media industry leader Jay Pandya, recognized for his role in cinematic storytelling, has launched his new production company, Blank Slate Films. To start this new chapter, Blank Slate Films debuts with the Malayalam anthology project, ‘Manorathangal’.

    Manorathangal is an anthology based on nine captivating short stories by the acclaimed M. T. Vasudevan Nair. Presented by Saregama (Yoodlee Films) and supported by Kamal Haasan, this inaugural project for Blank Slate Films features an illustrious ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Fahad Fazil, Biju Menon, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Indrajith Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Mamukkoya, Vineeth, Indrans, Aparna Balamurali, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Surabhi Lakshmi, and Ann Augustine.     Jay Pandya, whose career spans over two decades, has seamlessly transitioned from being a distinguished media executive to a visionary producer.     Saregama acquires majority stake in Pocket Aces

    Mumbai: A new chapter in Saregama’s growth story commences with a majority acquisition in a fast-growing digital entertainment company Pocket Aces Pictures Pvt Ltd, that owns direct relationships with over 95M younger digital-first customers across Instagram, YouTube, etc. Saregama will acquire 51.8 per cent shares for Rs  174 crores with a clear path to further acquire another 41 per cent stake in the next 15 months at pre-agreed multiples. The transaction is an all-cash deal.

    This acquisition will further strengthen Saregama’s strategic ambiton to take leadership position in new music across all Indian languages.  

    Pocket Aces, a youth-focussed digital content creator and publisher, boasts of an IP catalog of over 3000  content pieces ranging across web series, sketches, music videos and reels on its channels FilterCopy, Nutshell and Gobble, and releases over 30 new pieces of content every day. The company’s talent management arm, Clout, manages over 100 digital influencers, and its long-form studio, Dice Media, has created relatable youth-centric web series across OTT platforms such as Netflix, Hotstar, and Amazon.

    Pocket Aces’ revenue from operations was Rs 104 cr in FY23. Revenue has grown by 34 per cent CAGR over the last 4 years and is expected to grow even faster in future.

    Acquiring Pocket Aces will add on a whole new dimension of IP and a distribution network of over 95 million followers, which Saregama will leverage to further popularize its music library among the 18-35 audience segment. It will also create synergies across the artiste & influencer management and long-format video creation businesses of the two companies.

    Saregama vice chairperson Avarna Jain said, “This acquisition signifies the confluence of tradition and innovation. While we have always been leaders in the realm of music and media, this partnership with Pocket  Aces will add new dimensions to our business as we tap into the burgeoning young digital audiences.”

    Carvaan Mobile is a first ever keypad mobile with pre-loaded songs, speakers, a long-lasting battery, dual sim, FM, a LED torch and other features. Saregama plans to launch the phone in all regional languages.

    Mumbai: Saregama has announced a global deal with YouTube for YouTube Shorts, a short-format video experience on YouTube.

    This partnership will allow users to create short videos on YouTube using Saregama’s humongous catalogue of songs. Saregama said that it is India’s oldest music label with a catalogue of over 1.40 lakh songs across many different genres, including new and old film and non-film songs, devotional music, ghazals, and Indipop in more than 25 languages like Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Bhojpuri, and Gujrati, amongst others.

    Starting now, YouTube Shorts creators will be able to use music from one of the most extensive music libraries in India, which includes classics from legends like Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Gulzar, Jagjit Singh, R.D. Burman, Kalyanji Anandji, Geeta Dutt, and Laxmikant Pyarelal, and at the same time, the latest hits from Badshah, Neeti Mohan, Papon, Adnan Sami and many other contemporary artists.

    Mumbai: Music label Saregama has inked global music licensing deal with homegrown short-format app Chingari.

    As part of the deal, the entire catalogue of the music label will be made available on Chingari, allowing users to create innovative content using the robust music library of over 130K songs in diverse Indian languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi and Gujarati among others, said the statement.

    The deal will also have the recent slate of new content that the music label has acquired off late. A quick scan of the recent additions include music of the films such as “Bellbottom,” forthcoming projects like “Gangubai Kathiawad,” “Maidaan,” and the next untitled project of Ranveer Singh with director Shankar.

    The deal also includes music from forthcoming Telugu films like “Sarkaru Vaari Paata” (starring Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu) and “Shyam Singha Roy” (featuring popular Telugu leading man Nani), hit singles of Badshah, B Praak, Arjun Kanungo, and Shreya Ghoshal among others as well as latest Punjabi tracks of Kaka, Amy Virk, Sukh-E, Parmish Varma and more, songs of Bhojpuri superstars like Khesari Lal Yadav, Pawan Singh and Ritesh Pandey and others, all the new songs of popular Gujarati singers Rakesh Barot and Kajal Meheriya.

    KOLKATA: It’s the confluence of two iconic entities in the Indian film and music industry. Saregama and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have now decided to collaborate, where Saregama has come on board as the music label for three forthcoming projects of the award-winning filmmaker. These projects will be the much awaited Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi – the music rights of which have been acquired from Pen Studios; the next untitled Bhansali directorial and his first non-film Hindi originals album which will have music composed by him.

    “Many a childhood memory of mine are of listening to the golden classics of Hindi cinema that the Saregama library holds and imagining my own world of stories around it. These songs and the music have been an essential part in my formative years.
